Our politicians are like something from a bad science fiction movie. It is as if they are infected by a creature that turns their brains to mush or when the get to Washington they are instantly transported to a bizzaro world where good ideas never see the light of day and bad ideas are the norm.
Two of the worst offenders are at it again. They have already created a huge disaster and now they want to make it worse.
Who is it and what are they doing?
It is Joe Lieberman and John McCain. They have met with Syrian rebels and are now proclaiming the Syrians need American weapons.
Great.
Not to wear out the Titanic analogies, but these clowns are asking us to go full speed ahead into the iceberg.
Lieberman and McCain, who truly could be called dumb and dumber, took their road show to Libya last year. To err is human but to really turn a screw up into a full-fledged disaster, you need these two TSA rejects.
Qaddafi was a vicious Arab dictator. There is no question about that. In the last few years before his overthrow, Qaddafi had been fairly well behaved. He was not supporting Al-Qaeda like our alleged ally and the nation Obama would most like to bow to, Saudi Arabia and he had abandoned his weapons of mass destruction program.
The lesson to other nations and other dictators is clear. Never cooperate with America and never give up a WMD program.
Qaddafi did and we supported the rebels. He ended up dead, and while that was no great loss, other nations will remember.
Speaking of those rebels that Liebermann and McCain were so adamant that we support, how did that turn out?
A huge amount of Qaddafi weapons have been pilfered, including thousands of what are referred to as “man-portable air defense” weapons. In plain English, those are shoulder-fired surface to air missiles.
The black flag of Al-Qaeda flies over many Libyan cities and now Islamist fighters are moving into other African countries, using weapons taken from Libya.
Not satisfied that they have created a disaster in the Sahara, these two now want to repeat their failure in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Bashar Al-Assad is a brutal dictator, just as bad as Qaddafi. But here is a clue for the Bozo brothers. If the Assad regime is brought down something will replace it. If history is our guide, what will replace it will be worse than the current regime.
Look at what has happened in the so-called “Arab Spring.” The governments of Libya, Tunisia, Yemen and Egypt have fallen. An Islamist government has replaced each of them.
If insanity is described as trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, can we call Liebermann and McCain certifiable? Based on the track record of the region, do we really believe that if the Assad regime in Syria is overthrown, do these two brain transplant donors really believe that the Arab George Washington is suddenly going to appear and an American style constitution will be written, with freedom and liberty for all?
No, that is not going to happen. Anyone but a United States Senator could figure that out. Instead, if the Assad regime is toppled, we will have an Islamist regime that will support anti-American terrorism. It will destabilize the Middle East, as the Islamists will want to go to war with Israel. The Christian minority in Syria will be persecuted as they have been in Egypt.
Only Obama would think those are good things.
Liebermann and McCain are proof that those in Washington are not our best and brightest. They have been awarded a license for stupidity. Unfortunately, unlike a driver’s license, the American people cannot ever get those revoked.
