There are certain things that have no known limits. The Universe is one. Human stupidity is another. The stupidity of those in county lockup can be added to the list.
Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of George Zimmerman has been arrested for perjury.
This is no great shock after the evidence that was introduced at the bond revocation hearing of George Zimmerman.
First the facts and then what is going on behind the scenes.
When George Zimmerman originally had a bond hearing a couple of months back, both Zimmerman and his wife testified. His wife testified to their limited finances. Based on what the judge heard, bond was set.
Unfortunately, while George Zimmerman may not be guilty of murder, neither he nor his wife appear to be the sharpest knives in the drawer. Not only did they transfer funds they had to different accounts, they talked about it on the phone when Zimmerman called his wife. Almost every jail in the nation has a phone system for inmates to make calls. There are signs or other warnings posted that the calls may be monitored or recorded. No warrant is needed because if you are calling from county lockup you do not have the same reasonable expectation of privacy you do from your den.
Days before the bond hearing, Shellie Zimmerman transferred $74,000 to various accounts in amounts from $7500 to $9900.
This creates a huge problem for the Zimmermans.
Under Federal law, transactions involving $10,000 or more must be reported to the IRS. If you structure transactions to avoid the $10,000 trigger that is a separate criminal offense called “structuring.”
Based on the evidence that was used to obtain the arrest warrant on Shellie Zimmerman, it looks like there was enough evidence to charge George Zimmerman as well.
Why wasn’t he charged with perjury too?
The answer is the end game is coming and the screws are being turned.
I spent 10 years as a state prosecutor and I can already tell you what is going on behind the scenes. George Zimmerman has turned down one negotiated plea offer. While the specifics of the plea offer are not publically known, I can tell you the deal was Zimmerman plead to something and his wife would not be charged.
Whatever the offer was, it was too much for Zimmerman.
Now a new offer will be made. The offer will involve Zimmerman pleading guilty to some degree of homicide in the shooting of Trayvon Martin. The deal will involve prison time for Zimmerman. The deal will also involve Shellie Zimmerman not doing any jail time.
If George Zimmerman turns that deal down, he will be charged with perjury and his wife will probably face a Federal charge. You will be able to tell if the negotiations break down because Zimmerman will be charged. Zimmerman is set for a bail hearing on June 29th. If that hearing is suddenly cancelled, that probably means a deal is close or has been reached.
For Angela Corey, the worthless prosecutor who is handling this case, George Zimmerman’s stupidity is going to save her. She will probably get Zimmerman to plead on some type of homicide in order to save his wife.
The really disgusting part is, the plea will be used by the race hucksters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton as vindication of what they did.
If Zimmerman and his wife committed perjury then that is what they should be convicted of. Unfortunately, justice is not Angela Corey’s top priority.
Politics is.

But this tactic provides an excellent opening for a political counter offensive by conservatives. Making this case loudly and publicly would undermine support for the case against the Zimmermans... among liberals. Liberals are so used to believing that prosecutions against minorities are conducted this way, that their enthusiasm for the Zimmerman prosecution would crater -- thereby undermining Sharpton, Jackson, et al.
Permalink Reply by Dennis L on Lying in court under oath is not a very smart thing to do and the Zimmermans gave the government exactly what it needed to finish it's lynch job on them. While we will never know what really happened during the Martin-Zimmerman confronatation, the job of convicting a man "to keep the peace and the votes" is well underway. Had Mr Zimmerman used his head and also carried highly effective non-lethal Mace/Pepper Spray and stopped the confrontation with Trevon using this method the incident would have not even made the news. The sad reality is that the killing of a black man never gets any notice unless someone other than another black person does the killing. Anyone ever notice that black on black crime is of little interest to anyone? Why?, because it cannot be used for political exploitation.
Permalink Reply by Rich Knoch on Isn't this another Grand Blemish on American Justice, as the charge to Mr. Zimmerman should (probably) never have been made, as an impaneled Grand Jury would have considered the evidence and, probably, never sent this to trial.
This has escalated to the point where either Mr. Zimmerman will plead guilty to something he is not guilty of, or, both will be charged for perjury for a crime that was caused by the incompetence of Ms. Corey?
The three ultimately guilty parties would seem to be Ms. Corey for incompetence, and Al and Jesse who've made a living of Capital Race Baiting. . . . . for decades.

When you see the updated pictures of the thug Mr. Zimmerman was attacked by you realize why He was concerned about this man roaming through the neighborhood. Nobody talks about why they have a neighborhood watch and I'm sure it's not because thugs like this have broken into their homes and stolen their peace of mind! Where will it end and who will be thrown under the bus next? Should they squeeze the screws and force him to cop a plea to protect his family it will be an injustice that Obama even shares in. Do you really think if they had shown the updated pictures of this thug, Obama would have made the statement his son would have looked like that? Media has a large part to bare for this travisty.
