Much as children would play the game, pin the tail on the donkey, the new game in Washington is to pin the blame on the Republicans, and by extension, the Tea Party. The players are the Democrats and their lapdog allies in the media.
Perhaps it is time we crash the party and start playing pin the blame on the party it belongs on.
Let’s start by indentifying the problems and getting the truth out. This is from the AP (Via the Boston Globe)http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2011/07/05/minnesota_leg...
EAGAN, Minn. - As Senator Ted Daley, a Republican, hustled up Yankee Doodle Road in the lineup for Eagan’s Fourth of July parade, some of his constituents wondered loudly why he wasn’t at the state Capitol 10 miles to the north trying to end the state government shutdown that was in its fourth day.
“Go get your job done!’’ shouted Bill Egan, a 52-year-old salesman who said he is disgusted by the standoff between Governor Mark Dayton, a Democrat, and the Republicans who control the Legislature.
They have been at odds over the state budget since they were sworn in early this year.
Republicans want to limit state spending to $34 billion, the amount the state is expected to bring in over the next two years, while Dayton wants to raise income taxes on the state’s top earners to provide $1.8 billion more to keep up with growing demand for state services and prevent cuts to social programs and public colleges.
With neither side willing to budge, talks broke down Thursday night hours before the government shutdown. Dayton urged lawmakers to spend the holiday weekend in their districts, listening to the people they represent.
“I just want to see compromise,’’ said Egan, a Democratic-leaning independent who voted for Daley last year “because he goes to my church.’’ Watching the state’s second government shutdown in six years, Egan said he’s tired of politicians failing to compromise.
All of the elements of the story are there. The Republicans are to blame for the shutdown. Instead of working to solve the shut down, they went off for the holidays while the ‘heroic’ liberal governor urged them to work through the holidays (Does anyone remember the Harvard University study that says liberals don’t go to Fourth of July parades?).
And of course, there is the obligatory; we just want “compromise.”
Buried in the story is a portion of the truth. The fight is over the budget. The GOP wants fiscal responsibility and the Governor from the Party of Treason wants to wreck the Minnesota economy with more tax and spend policies.
What the AP and most of the drive by media is not saying is that the GOP led legislature had the budget bills wrapped up. Dayton did not voice complaints then. Instead he waited until the last minute and vetoed the spending bills. The Minnesota state legislature increased spending by 6% over the previous year. This was all based on anticipated growth in revenue. This was not good enough for Dayton who wanted a 15% increase.
The Party of Treason, or in Minnesota it is known as the Democratic Farmer Labor Party, has done this before. In 2005, the roles were reversed. The Republicans, in the form of Tim Pawlenty, held the governor’s mansion and they held the legislature. By the end of the legislative session in May of that year, no budget had been passed by the legislature, so Pawlenty called a special session to get the budget passed. According to sources, the Republicans and the Party of Treason were very close to an agreement when the then Senate Majority Leader, Dean Johnson abruptly walked out of the talks and forced a shutdown. Even though the Party of Treason walked out of the negotiations, the left and their willing accomplices in the drive by media blamed it on Pawlenty, dubbing him “Governor shutdown.”
Eventually Pawlenty caved and signed on to some tax increases. The political planning was evident as the Party of Treason wanted to use this to try and get Pawlenty, an otherwise popular governor, defeated the next year in his bid for reelection. Pawlenty narrowly won reelection.
This year, the GOP led legislature offered compromise with the Governor. They even offered what in Minnesota is a “lights on” bill to keep the government running so that negotiations could continue and the government would not shut down.
That was not good enough for far left Governor Mark Dayton, who shut the government down.
The media is now doing exactly what the Party of Treason wants it to do. Blame the Republicans, and by extension the Tea Party, even though it is the liberal Governor who is responsible for the shut down. The strategy is simple. By blaming the Republicans, hopefully the people will be so disgusted by them, next year when the legislature is up for election, the voters will turn the legislature from Republican control to the Democrat Farmer Labor Party.
We have to fight back.
We need to bypass the mainstream media and get our message out. This shut down is the result of a far left governor trying to play politics so that his party can pick up votes in the next election and control the state legislature. We need to get the message out that the only reason Minnesota’s state government is shut down is because of the Party of Treason, not because of the GOP.
We use social media. We use Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other media that we have available. If we do nothing, we lose and a victory in Minnesota will encourage them to try similar tactics in other states.
Get your Tea Party groups on board. All of us need to get this message out. The Minnesota shutdown is not because the GOP is beholden to the Tea Party and we are being unreasonable nor is the GOP being unreasonable.
This is a calculated political strategy by the left.
Either we conservatives win this battle or liberals do. We cannot afford to lose any battles. Get involved and help us win this battle!
The interview from Eagan MN of a fellow named Egan is just that.
The interview of a partisan of the left, by a reporter of the left, or of
the status quo. Better had it been an interview of two or more such
persons, one portion with a different opposing view for good form, or
else it was not a news item but an op-ed piece. Op-ed has its own
page in print media, but is harder to pigeonhole in telemedia or now
e-media, having been parrotted elsewhere from an original source. At
least this stupid piece names the individual whose stupid opinion was
aired, and not something like "official (or unofficial) sources say..."
I understand the attacks by Democrats. I do not understand the media abandoning their objectivity. Their bias exposes their outright defiance of our system of government. Their support for all things liberal, is beyond belief. It is also a contempt for anyone conservative. We are called sophomoric, childish, etc. Name calling seems to come easy for some. And yes, there are plenty of conservatives who do the same. The difference for me is, liberals do it & the media pick up on it & expand upon it. They amplify the attack mentality.
It is true we must communicate as much as we can with as many as we can. In the end, I think many suspect that the media is all wet, and they also realize just spending away will not work. In fact the stimulus spending accomplished almost nothing & even Obama admitted that. Had Bush done so, the hew & cry would have been deafening. Why no hew & cry now that Obama came right out & said there were few "shovel ready" jobs. Studies reveal stimulus jobs in infrastructure were about 5% of the stimulus spending. 5% is not enough to get an economy going.
So, I'll shoot off my mouth & I hope others do the same.
"I do not understand the media abandoning their objectivity."
IF YOU ACCEPT the idea that the socialists have been working on taking over the country for decades, then it's not that difficult to accept that they took over the media, and was probably one of the first things they did... not long ago, I was thinking this was a recent take over, but then I started looking at something someone told me about Walter Cronkite, who was the #1 news reporter back in the day when there were only a couple of over-the-air channels... when he announced that we were losing the war in Vietnam [Tet Offensive, '68], THAT was when the general population turned against the war... up until that time, the "hippies" had no support amongst the Silent Majority... ANNOUNCING that we were losing was a lie, but it was soon parroted over all media, so now I'm thinking they had already made major inroads towards taking over the media w-a-y back in the 60's...
SO NOW, if you want to be a part of the "media", you have to go-along-to-get-along, or you don't last in that business...
SO I GUESS what I'm saying is, the media lost its objectivity long, long ago... we just didn't notice it until recently.
Always, cut the snakes head off first. Get rid of Obama legally because he is illegal, and the rest of the snake withers or gets eaten by possums.
End of the way to deal with the crisis.
However, the crisis is getting the RINOS and Boehner to do one darn thing.
I have been saying this for over a year now yet again Mr. Judson Philipps just now writes it down in an article. I think I need to start writing these articles, ha, ha. Anyway I totally agree we need to get the word out. Easier said than done. Most of us know that liberials and the progessives are always doing this stuff so is really anyone that has any common sense suprised that they did this. And the democrate that was yelling at the republican to go back so they can work on the budget. WOW!!! REALLY!!?? He is a democrate people, of course he is going to be mad at the republican because he probably had been watching MSNBC or CNN and they have been filling his head with crap instead of what is really happening. If anyone watch Obummer talking to Congress and the Senate the other day trying to blame them for his crappy policies and making them escape goats. (Quick note:) If I was a democrate and sat there while the president blamed me for all of his blonders, I would have switched sides in a heart beat and voted with the republicans just to piss him off.
Anyway back to the democrate trying to blame the republican. By the way where was the democrates during the 4th of july weekend? For that matter where was our gallant president at. I KNOW!! ON his 50th vaction since taking office. Yes everyone was on vaction but it's all the republicans fault AS USUAL. And always will be until we can change demograhics of the media from liberial to conservative. That means we need to start training our children and getting them into the one outlet that influences everyone. The news media, and the NEA. Do what the progressives have been doing to us. Influence from within. Sure it will take time but patience is a virture we seldom indulge in anymore. But it may be our only true allie. God bless.
There are only TWO (2) ways:
(1) The right way;
(2) The wrong way;
Compromise is how both sides lose and nobody wins. Let's get it right the first time.
Impeach Obama. Fire Congress. Stop complying with the NEA, ACLU, EPA, and every damned government org. that wants to ban the flag, the pledge, or our Judeo/Christian roots. Call up talk radio/TV and tell them again and again that there is NO SUCH THING as the "separation of church and state" clause.
OK, so exactly what is the Republican Party? Would someone enlighten me please. It sure seems that "Republican" is a very, very generic term with very little meat on its bones. SO what exactly does the Republican Party stand for and against?
If you cannot answer that question without feelings squeamish and uncertain...perhaps you should quit using the term or demand that the party come clean with a "10 commandments" / "declaration of independence" of their own...and then require every elected representative or candidate for office to sign off on the NEW Republican platform.
We cannot even get presidential candidates to sign off on anti-abortion pledges. The whole social conservative, financial conservative, social liberal, financial liberal metaphor leaves me feeling like I am being lied to as often as I am being told the truth. How can one be both, liberal and conservative? are even these two words too difficult to understand.
When written, the United States Constitution seemed to be pretty clear, with only a few exceptions where interpretation might be a little dicy...but look at how screwed up it has become in today's political arena.
God gave us the 10 commandments...seems like even today they are still the best laws man has ever seen for living together.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
2 Chronicles 7:14
IF My people, who are called by My name,
shall humble themselves
and seek My face
and turn from their wicked ways,
THEN will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin
and will heal their land.
2 Timothy 3:1- 9
But understand this,
that is the last days there will come times of difficulty.
For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud,
arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful,
unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control,
brutal, not loving god, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit,
lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
having the appearance of godliness but denying its power.
Avoid such people. For among them are those who
creep into households and capture weak women,
burdened with sins and led astray by various passions,
always learning and never able to arrive at a
knowledge of the truth.
Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses,
so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted
in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.
But they will not get very far,
for their folly with be plain to all,
as was that of those two men.
You shall not pervert justice.
You shall not show partiality,
and you shall not accept a bribe,
for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise
and subverts the cause of the righteous.
Deuteronomy 4:5-9 –
See, I have taught you statutes and rules,
as the Lord my God commanded me,
that you should do them in the land that you are entering
to take possession of it.
Keep them and do them,
for that will be your wisdom and your understanding
in the sight of the peoples,
who, when they hear all these statutes will say,
‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people’
For what great nation is there that has
a god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us,
whenever we call upon him?
And what great nation is there, that has statutes and rules
so righteous as all this law that I set before you today?
Only take care, and keep your soul diligently,
lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen,
and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life.
Make them known to your children and your children’s children.
Thank you for your wonderful postings. It still amazes me how much one (me) can still learn in their old age (70).
My aunt is 94, still drives her car and still has more fire in her belly than a lot of teenagers. The reason why, who knows...but I believe it is her passion for Christ, her love of our nation, and her years as a young adult spent in a dictatorship in south America. Sometimes, to truly love something, you must lose it. She did and she came home with a great appreciation for freedom, liberty, and written laws that apply to everyone. Image her dismay today in America when all of these things are being swept away by Progressives and by the lack of response by lazy citizens who have forgotten their duty, responsibility, and obligations.
