I few years ago, I was reading a book about billionaires and the author pointed out an interesting fact. An amazing number of billionaires were poker players. This made sense. Poker is not gambling. It is a game that involves computing odds, gauging risk and looking at the guy across the table and trying to not only read him but also outthink him.
I would love to play high stakes poker with John Boehner. He is not a player and that is a problem.
We have a huge crisis brewing in the government and we need a poker player on our side. The enemy has Harry Reid. Say whatever else you want to about Harry Reid, the man knows how to play poker - and gullible Republicans do not!
For this crisis, the cards have been dealt. The advantage on the draw goes to the Republicans. Republicans can totally shut the government down. This is the big card the GOP has. No one can force them to spend money. If the party of treason will not agree to major spending cuts, all the GOP has to do is play that card. Contrary to myth, the armed forces will continue to function, as well the air traffic system and seniors will get their social security checks.
The big card Harry Reid is holding is the GOP fear of a public backlash, as happened in 1995. This is a different world from 1995. The World Wide Web did not exist in the same capacity as it does today. Conservative media was almost non-existent. Other than Rush Limbaugh, there were almost no conservative voices in the media. Fox News did not exist.
The shut down card is also a card that breaks for the GOP. Here is one simple fact that terrifies the liberals. Let’s say the GOP holds its ground (I know that is a stretch, but we can hope). On March 4th, the government shuts down. Essential functions will continue, but the majority of the government will be sent home. If this shutdown lasts more than a few days, Americans will start noticing how much they are not missing the government. The question the Tea Party and the conservatives will be putting to the American people is, if the lack of government is not impacting your daily lives, why are we paying so much for government?
This is the nightmare scenario for the party of treason. They have been filling the media with accounts of what would happen if the government shuts down. Their favorite expression is basically, it will be the end of the world, as we know it.
When the end does not come, a lot of Americans will be looking around asking, ‘how much government do we really need?’
For a party whose sole existence is predicated on growing government and growing government dependency on government, this is a nightmare of biblical proportions!
Like most conservatives, I would prefer not to have a government shut down. What I would really like to see is the liberals suddenly see the light, realize spending is not sustainable and join in to make massive spending cuts. Today I received an email offering to send me money from the Ivory Coast, if I would just help this poor soul out. I have better chances of seeing money materialize from that email than the chances of liberals starting to cut spending.
For John Boehner, I have some simple advice. Call the guys from Poker Stars and get them to teach you poker. And please, do it quickly!

This time they hold an unbeatable hand.
Will that have the sense to stand firm? Time will tell.
By the way, on NPR’s “All things Considered” today, they played a tape of bo (my term for the resident of the White House) saying people won’t get their SSI checks if the government shuts down. Then, amazingly, NPR exposed that as not accurate. Of course they didn’t use the word “lie”, but it was obvious that bo was lying.

Permalink Reply by Montana Outback on February 24, 2011 at 6:44pm Liberals created the entitlement-welfare class. Close to 50% of income tax filers pay nothing, thanks to progressive law makers who seek favors from the huge constituency they built and enslaved.
When the government shuts down and these people don't get their benefits they will riot in the streets.
I lived through the Oakland riot during the postal workers strike and one other time when I volunteered for a food program for the poor. Our team started to run low on food boxes and the folks started to riot. One thing I'll never forget was watching those who got food, load it into their big cars. Some even came back to get more. Most were obese and well dressed.
So, shut down the government and watch out. Do you really think the folks who have been nurtured by the likes of Obama, will blame the Democrats?
Who will ultimately get the blame in Wisconsin, Ohio and Illinois? Not the Democrats. The teachers will stand by and watch, as parents have to stay home from their jobs to care for their kids. Cops will stand down and let criminals take over and firefighters will watch as homes burn.
I know who will get the blame.

Today, I was just thinking might be the day when I was gonna start liking ya.....now ya say this, and we're back to square one!!
What's with you and John R? He says he "loves Sarah, don't et him wrong, BUT......." and you are so geeked over John Boehner's tear ducts! I'm sending ya both coal next Chritmas, hear?
Okay, back to what's on my mind....John Boehner, in my book doesn't have to worry about a power playing game tctic. Government is not a game. I have been praying for honesty and a heart for serving the people of America. I believe he is trying to do just that. Ya twitter him, he gets back to ya, send an email, he answers and invites you to ask on a regular basis. He' looing tired, but determined and pretty somber with responsibily. Can we cut him some slack and pray for the fool? I'll pray for yo too, if you agree to pray for him,...fool! Now staighten up and get along or I'm gonn hide yer baseball cards!
