Obama’s warrior legacy


 

 

Obama is a many singularly devoid of his own accomplishments.   There are types of men who must build their legacy on the acts of others.  Obama is one of those.  His legacy of war is not only dangerous but opens the door for America’s defeat.

 

What is his legacy?

 

Obama’s primary military legacy is the use of UAV’s or drones.   Drones are great for a cowardly President.   He can order the drone to hit a target and if there is success, he can claim the glory for it and if the drone fails, there is no captured American pilot or the corpse of an American pilot to be paraded about on TV.

 

In Obama’s military, gone are the swaggering fighter jocks of Top Gun or World War Two.  Instead, Obama warfare is little more than a very expensive video game.

 

The use of robots in warfare may be the Obama doctrine and it maybe Obama’s legacy, but it is a dangerous legacy. 

 

The dangerousness of our dependency on drones and not American pilots was recently revealed when computer “mal-ware” infected a part of the drone system.  The Air Force Space Command says that virus did not affect any of the flight control systems.  Instead it was a virus designed to steal logins for video games.

 

But this is a greater threat than just an inconvenient computer virus.  With our growing dependency on drones to carry out military operations, it is now becoming a question of when and not if, a hostile power will be able to hack into the controls and redirect some of those drones.

 

Last year, news surfaced that a computer worm called “Stuxnet” had been introduced into Iran’s nuclear facilities and the worm had done so much damage that Iran’s nuclear ambitions were pushed back significantly. 

 

Everyone assumed that the Stuxnet worm was a sophisticated effort by a nation state to knock Iran back.  Everyone assumed only a nation state could put together the kind of resources it would take to create such a computer worm.

 

Now, computer hackers using very modest labs and with a very small budget are replicating what Stuxnet did.  The implications of this are horrifying.

 

American infrastructure, not to mention our military is going to become increasingly vulnerable to this type of hacking over the next years.

 

Thanks to the Obama legacy this could even be worse.

 

Under the Obama Defense Department, unmanned vehicles are the flavor of the day.  Unmanned vehicles do have their uses, but as our primary military strike tool, they leave a lot to be desired. 

 

Of course, for liberals, there is only one consideration with the military.  In liberal land, the military must never be a political embarrassment for the liberal President.  Yes, they can be around to transport the President.  Yes they can be around for disaster relief.   But if there is a military operation, they had better not screw up and end up with collateral damage or Americans captured or killed. 

 

That is why Obama and the left love drones so much.

 

Unfortunately, there are far too many risks with the drones.  With almost all of our computer components now imported, it defies belief to think the Chinese, who manufacture many of those components have not included software or even hardware back doors so they can access these components if there is hostilities between America and China.

 

Liberals never ask the important question about defense.  What are our threats and how do we defend ourselves?  Instead, defense is always a political question.  How do we have defense without “embarrassing” the liberal President?   The answers they come up with are always wrong.

 

By relying on technology alone, without American airmen and soldiers actually doing the fighting, Obama is creating a legacy like his liberal predecessors. 

 

A hollow defense that may not serve America in her time of need.

Obama's "warrior legacy" aside, our foreign policy under him has been a disaster.  Not only have we disrespected allies -- UK and Israel -- over and over, but there is not _one single country_ where our bilateral relations have improved under Obama.  Isn't that what foreign policy is all about?  Has anything in our foreign policy made this country more secure?

Aren't you the brave one...is it because you are too old to be called into service?  In fact, have you ever served in the military?  Drones, smart bombs, nuclear weapons...why not ask the survivors of Hiroshima whether they would have preferred an attack by drones with conventional weapons or the atomic bomb?

Marines. There's a couple more of us too. Who cares what the targets think about the methods we use to eliminate them? As long as they're no longer fighting against the US, I coud care less. Go back to Zucotti Park.

So you would rather see fewer drones and more dead marines?  The issue is not what the targets think or want, it is what is the most efficient way, with the least loss of American lives...I have little patience with people who advocate for more dead military personnel...which was the point of this article.  Furthermore, no one has bothered to explain the difference between Bush's smart bombs and Obama's drones....

This is why liberals are increasingly irrelevant. I've made it perfectly clear that I'm in favor of drones. They're very good for putting a precision airstrike on an HVT and providing real-time battlefield intel to troops on the ground. However, they're not the answer to every tactical or strategic problem. And "Bush's smartt bombs and Obama's drones?" The drone program started under the Bush administration, and as Obama has a tendency to do, he took credit for the success of others, though it's true that it has expanded. I have no idea what you mean by "Bush's smart bombs". In the build up to the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq we launched an air campaign to destroy military, political, and communications infastructure, this was an entirely different mission than a surgical strike designed to eliminate a single HVI, and as such requires different tools to accomplish it.

Navy. No computer is 100% secure if it communicates with another one...and all of these drones communicate with each other and their command centers. In such a wireless environment as this, all someone would have to do is figure out how to create an impostor and have it send bogus commands to the others.

Very nice piece for you.  But as for legacy's  and Obama  I don't see any.  He will down as the worse president ever, accomplishes in my view NONE.  He is trying to destroy America with all his radicals he keeps close to him.  This congress and senate will also be remembered as the worst ever.  After this the people will be very select on who they elect and from now on watching every move.
