Obama is a many singularly devoid of his own accomplishments. There are types of men who must build their legacy on the acts of others. Obama is one of those. His legacy of war is not only dangerous but opens the door for America’s defeat.
What is his legacy?
Obama’s primary military legacy is the use of UAV’s or drones. Drones are great for a cowardly President. He can order the drone to hit a target and if there is success, he can claim the glory for it and if the drone fails, there is no captured American pilot or the corpse of an American pilot to be paraded about on TV.
In Obama’s military, gone are the swaggering fighter jocks of Top Gun or World War Two. Instead, Obama warfare is little more than a very expensive video game.
The use of robots in warfare may be the Obama doctrine and it maybe Obama’s legacy, but it is a dangerous legacy.
The dangerousness of our dependency on drones and not American pilots was recently revealed when computer “mal-ware” infected a part of the drone system. The Air Force Space Command says that virus did not affect any of the flight control systems. Instead it was a virus designed to steal logins for video games.
But this is a greater threat than just an inconvenient computer virus. With our growing dependency on drones to carry out military operations, it is now becoming a question of when and not if, a hostile power will be able to hack into the controls and redirect some of those drones.
Last year, news surfaced that a computer worm called “Stuxnet” had been introduced into Iran’s nuclear facilities and the worm had done so much damage that Iran’s nuclear ambitions were pushed back significantly.
Everyone assumed that the Stuxnet worm was a sophisticated effort by a nation state to knock Iran back. Everyone assumed only a nation state could put together the kind of resources it would take to create such a computer worm.
Now, computer hackers using very modest labs and with a very small budget are replicating what Stuxnet did. The implications of this are horrifying.
American infrastructure, not to mention our military is going to become increasingly vulnerable to this type of hacking over the next years.
Thanks to the Obama legacy this could even be worse.
Under the Obama Defense Department, unmanned vehicles are the flavor of the day. Unmanned vehicles do have their uses, but as our primary military strike tool, they leave a lot to be desired.
Of course, for liberals, there is only one consideration with the military. In liberal land, the military must never be a political embarrassment for the liberal President. Yes, they can be around to transport the President. Yes they can be around for disaster relief. But if there is a military operation, they had better not screw up and end up with collateral damage or Americans captured or killed.
That is why Obama and the left love drones so much.
Unfortunately, there are far too many risks with the drones. With almost all of our computer components now imported, it defies belief to think the Chinese, who manufacture many of those components have not included software or even hardware back doors so they can access these components if there is hostilities between America and China.
Liberals never ask the important question about defense. What are our threats and how do we defend ourselves? Instead, defense is always a political question. How do we have defense without “embarrassing” the liberal President? The answers they come up with are always wrong.
By relying on technology alone, without American airmen and soldiers actually doing the fighting, Obama is creating a legacy like his liberal predecessors.
A hollow defense that may not serve America in her time of need.

Under Bush, thousands of doves were shot in Mississippi every fall. I suppose that was his fault as well. What about the thousands that died of cancer, auto accidents, and lightning strikes? If Bush had not been such a Republican, that would not have happened! ...and Oh, my God...the earthquakes and hurricanes and old age!
Gee, I guess the only thing you can't blame on Bush is the abortions!

Permalink Reply by John Smith on October 24, 2011 at 8:03am LOL- this is a pretty shallow assessment Judson... there are tons and tons of contingency plans for all kinds of scenarios in the works everyday that do not need liberal presidential approval.
S/F
"Tons and tons?" Mr. Smith
Now that is an imprecise assessment of an excellent piece. Name one of your plethora of contingency plans and give its exact weight among the "tons"; only then may you be less shallow than the writer you so glibly criticize.

Have you not seen headlines about stolen hard drives, pilfered top secret documents, lost computers?
We are talking about the federal government here...a bunch that very often cannot find its butt with both hands! Hackers can break into any network. I know this. No computer is 100% secure if it communicates with another. No encryption method is perfect. Secrets are stolen and sold every day.
It's only a matter of time for instance before somebody figures out how to text a virus to all cellphones, or radio a virus to all satellite radio users.
Just saying that there are "tons and tons" of plans does not make it so. Have you not seen the pandemonium that happens even with a simple, ordinary, electrical blackout? Do you think the government really has control? Then you are foolish!
Permalink Reply by Lin B. on October 24, 2011 at 1:05pm Exactly true and Jer is on it. I think Schmidt is a shill for the BO regime and said so in a blog on that article. I don't believe a word of it! He isn't being called out! He is part of the shell game for the Marxist left. If TPN real members cannot see that, they need another lesson in double-speak, side of the neck-talk or whatever. This regime will stop at NOTHING to destroy America's freedom and liberties. After BO gets through following his puppeteer masters, we may all end up bowing to his pic on the wall, he hopes well......OVER MY DEAD BODY!
Hey who is this John Smith? Sounds like a lib under cover and his cover-name is pretty obvious! Libs beware! You are always found out by your lib bias and Marxist sympathies.
RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT!

Permalink Reply by Mark Mathew Kahle Hill on October 24, 2011 at 8:13am And here I thought that one of the Tea Parties strengths was to give an honest unbiased assessment of things. Judson, there was so much that you could have said to get your point across in much better and concrete terms other than to fly off on this very biased tangent given your headline. Shame on you for the tacit dishonesty in this story. Remember its not what you say but how you say it... for instance:
Obama promised "No US, in-country involvement in Libya" This would have been a far better tact and is actually far worse for the Presidents position.
