Barack Obama has just pulled a play action pass. It is a play in football where the quarterback fakes a handoff, hoping to fool the defenders. The questions is, will it work?
Obama’s play action pass today was his announcement that he was granting amnesty to illegal aliens under certain circumstances.
The play was a shameless pandering to the open borders crowd.
That was the fake.
Many Republicans rose to the bait. They should have, as Obama’s act was absolutely outrageous.
Unfortunately many who are jumping to the fake are not realizing what is really going on.
While Obama’s amnesty is a serious issue, there is an even more important issue that we must be worried about.
Obama is beginning to act more like a dictator than a President. If it is bad now, what will happen if he is reelected and does not have to face the voters again?
Obama’s flirtation with dictatorship began with the Czars. Despite the constitutional requirements that senior administration officials be appointed with the advice and consent of the Senate, Obama simply appointed unaccountable and unconfirmed Czars.
Then came the Defense of Marriage Act. DOMA was passed by the Congress in the 1990’s and it was signed into law by Bill Clinton. Obama announced that he had decided the law was unconstitutional. So instead of going to Congress and demanding the law be repealed, Obama simply announced he would no longer defend the law. Thus, if he had his way DOMA would be repealed by fiat. The leaders of the House of Representatives hired their own lawyers to defend DOMA.
Now, Obama has decided he is going to ignore another law. The law mandates that illegal aliens be removed from the country. The law sets specific procedures for those who want to come to this country. For political reasons, he wants to pander to illegal aliens so he is simply ignoring the law.
Our founding fathers created a system where change would be difficult and where the President, with a couple of exceptions, was a weak chief executive.
Obama does not like that. He wants to be a dictator. He does not want to have to deal with the difficulties of democracy. So now, he is just ignoring laws he does not like.
What is next? Ruling by fiat?
Obama’s actions reveal an even more difficult problem. In America, we have two sides of the political spectrum. We have the Democrats and the Republicans. One of these sides believes in playing by the rules and following those rules. The other side does not care about the rules nor does it play by them. The other side only cares about power. It wants to obtain power and hold power, regardless of what the Constitution says.
For America, this is a situation that is very grave and must be resolved. The Democrats have been taken over by the hard left and unless they move back into the political mainstream, America will not survive.

This country would consist of no welfare payments, Everyone who is capable of it must work, Self responsibility for everyone. This would eliminate the ones who will not make the United States as it should be. I think it will only get worse from now on. No-one in the so-called Republican Party is going to defend this country against anyone who would take this country down. How long would this country last with the movie so-called actors supporting it.? I think it would empty out pretty soon if they could get rid of those nasty rich people who actually work for their supper.

Permalink Reply by NWBill on I've been expecting something like this ... frankly, I was guessing that he'd try to trigger a war between Israel and Iran over Iran's nuclear intentions, pretend to rush to the aid of the Israelis (in order to court and get back the Jewish vote), and then leave Israel in the wind at some point very close to the election - ESPECIALLY if it looked like the war threatened American troops still in the region. The military would scream bloody murder at being ordered to draw back from the conflict .. but, they hate Obama anyway - so he wouldn't lose much support from that quarter.
I suspect that Barack Obama is surreptitiously supporting the Arabs in the Middle East (one reason why he hasn't reacted much to Syria's developing civil war), and would create a situation where he had to play the great military leader (since he didn't really get the "pop" he wanted with the SEALs' killing of Osama bin Laden), wait for the Jewish population in the US to beg him to go to Israel's aid (although I truly believe Israel would destroy much, if not all, of Iran's offensive capabilities in a straight-up one on one fight), and then play the "savior" and protector of American interests.
He's overplayed his hand with this DREAM ACT move - 99% of voters see it as a play for the Hispanic vote, and he leaves himself wide open to charges of rule by fiat ... especially when he's debating Mitt Romney.
And the fact that he did this on a Friday, the slowest news day of the week, means that he's not exactly sure how it would've played out before pulling the trigger.
One thing he's likely done is made Marco Rubio much more of a viable candidate for the GOP VP slot (even though I don't believe he's ready for it yet). Mitt will much more seriously consider Rubio as a running mate after today ... since Rubio's version of the DREAM ACT has some similarities to what Obama announced today. I think, though, that Romney will be the cool-headed customer he's been so far, and ultimately not let this sway his final decision much.
At any rate, this move by Obama is a brazen act to go around Congress ... and all it will really do is make it THAT much harder for incumbent Democrats to get re-elected; since they already have to contend with the Obama-supporter "label" as it is, this will make voters even angrier towards them.
Obama MAY have just given the Senate to the GOP today ... but there's still a long way to go, and lots of things can happen between now and November.
Dennis Donner is right - we're living in VERY historical times, folks .... I hope you're talking to your kids about all this, because they're going to be reading about this in the history books in the next decade or so.

It is now a numbers game.
If I were marginally employed, I would vote against the Usurper in the W.H. for increasing my low salary competition, or unemployed for stealing my job prospects.

Permalink Reply by NWBill on I don't really think that it is a numbers game, Herrmann. Say that the thousands of young illegals come out of the woodwork and apply for jobs - which jobs will they get? Across the country, very few companies are hiring, and those that are will be aware that any hiring of illegals they do will be scrutinized and publicized. No business owner with a brain wants that kind of attention.
No, I think businesses will do what they've essentially been doing for much of the year; hold off on hiring ANYONE until after the Supreme Court decides on Obamacare, the elections, and what policies the (next) administration will put in place regarding the free market and business.
The Democrats think that it's the GOP that's restricting hiring and market recovery; the dirty truth of the matter is that Obama and his cronies have been SO anti-business these last few years, they have basically forced companies into a corner, a waiting game while decisions about taxes, regulations, benefits, etc. are being made WAY above their pay grade. Why hire people if, assuming the Supremes don't overturn Obamacare and Obama wins re-election, the government is going to be regulating you more anyway? Why not wait to see what happens, and WHO is in the White House come January 2013?
I think, in the end, Obama has just put another nail in the coffin of his re-election. Voters are sick and tired of being danced around like marionettes; we're looking at a possible landslide Romney victory BIGGER than Reagan's was over Carter in 1982.

Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King said Friday that he plans to sue the Obama administration to halt implementation of its newly announced selective illegal immigration law enforcement policy. He told Mike Huckabee on the former Arkansas governor’s radio program Friday that he successfully sued his own state’s governor — and won — over a similar separation-of-powers issue.
“I will tell you that — I’m not without experience on this — I’m prepared to bring a suit and seek a court order to stop implementation of this policy,” King said
“I have done it once in the past successfully when then-Governor Tom Vilsack thought he could legislate by executive order — and the case of King vs. Vilsack is in the books. And that individual, by the way, is now the Secretary of Agriculture. I wonder if he’s not counseling the president on his legal proceedings.”
Huckabee followed up, asking King: “You plan to sue this administration for implementing something that you believe should have required legislative process and approval?”
“That is correct,” King replied

Got an email from FAIR and they printed the Dept of Homeland Security numbers, the White House numbers and the number to one of my Senators....will call the rest of my representatives Monday. DHS's regular line was busy so I called the Comment line and left a very detailed, forceful comment. The WH line was busy and I called their Comment line and left a detailed message. Then I called my Congresssman's line and left another detailed message. Then when the Republican National Senate Committee called me for a donation, I let the caller know about what happened (he hadn't heard!) and I gave him an earful (nicely, though, cause he was outraged, too)!! I plan on calling EVERY day to every number I can find and I'm urging my family and friends to do so too.
We also need to contact the Tea Party Caucus headed by Michelle Bachman and let all of them know how we feel about this. We need to make sure that we tie up the phone lines, emails and faxes with our disdain for what this "person" is doing with total disregard for ANYONE...NOT EVEN HIS OWN PARTY!!
I am a 62 year old single lady who always plays by the rules and I am TIRED of this "??????" just doing what he pleases. If we can get a rally going in DC, I will have a "bake sale/lemonade stand" to raise money to get there. I have never in my whole life seen a president (little p on purpose) take so many liberties and not get taken to task.

Permalink Reply by Bruce Baker on When Prez Obama/ Soetoro/ whatever his other names are SAYS these words .... IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.. one must ask .. WHY! What is the reason it is the right thing to do? What is WRONG with the laws and methods we already have in place?
In Obama's case ... we follow the history of the man, from what we can find that hasn't been destroyed or sealed legally, so we can connect the dots of how the man thinks. Is he doing it because of a moral imperative that is higher than the rule of law which needs to be changed, or for selfish reasons that lead to him grasping at power and wealth?
My conclusion from following the history of Obama ... Power and Wealth, either directly or indirectly as he has an alternative motive for just about everything he does as his mind is molded into the Socialist thinking and his mentors were Marxist and Communist thinkers. Occasionally he will throw out a distraction while something else goes on in the background he or his handlers don't want us common people of America to see... but one must ALWAYS take into account the HISTORY of decisions and how a man comes to those decisions.
EDUCATE yourself to the history of Obama/Soetoro/whatever his other names are .... and you will begin to understand the people behind him, around him, and his thinking .... which will become very frightening once you do.
