You can say what ever you want about Barack Obama, but there is one thing conservatives should never think about him. That is, they should never think he is stupid. Barack Obama may be many things, but stupid is not one of them.
He is facing a massive hurdle in his reelection bid. And he has now removed that hurdle. Most people do not even realize what he did.
What was the hurdle, how did he remove it and what does that mean for his reelection chances?
For Barack Obama, the Great Obama Depression is his Achilles Heel. To quote James Carville, it’s the economy stupid!
The one economic factor that will sink any President is unemployment. If Americans are not working we will vote out the President and get another one who will get America back to work.
For Obama, despite his myriad attempts to cook the books, unemployment remains stubbornly high. Obama knows that no President in the modern era has ever been reelected with unemployment over 7.1%. He has not been able to get unemployment below 8%
The unemployment number that is always reported by the media is the façade number. It is not a real number. In the 1990’s, as Bill Clinton was heading towards reelection, he had a problem. Unemployment was too high. How did he solve that problem?
He changed the way the U1 unemployment number is calculated. Instead of all people unemployed, he took out those who were not seeking jobs. This dropped his unemployment number and he was reelected.
Clinton did this during the dying days of the liberal media monopoly. At the time, there was no Fox News. The Internet was something that was brand new to Americans and the World Wide Web had not developed yet. There was no Drudge Report, Breitbart.com, WND or Redstate.
Obama, assuming he could figure out something similar today, could never get away with it.
So he has done something else.
A little over a week ago, the Obama Regime announced it was gutting the historic welfare reform law of 1996. It was going to eliminate the requirement that welfare recipients be required to work or try to find work. It was doing this by very questionable and probably illegal waivers.
There was predictable outrage from conservatives and from Republicans. However, few stopped to ask the obvious question.
Why?
The Regime did not release the welfare waiver announcement on a Friday afternoon, at a time when most of the media would be already started on their weekend buzz. They announced it in the middle of the week.
There was no obvious and immediate benefit to the Obama Regime to make this change so why was it done?
The answer is human nature and the unemployment numbers.
The issue that created welfare reform in the 90’s was people getting on welfare who did not want to work. There are some people in this world who simply want a free ride. These are the people Obama is counting on.
Welfare recipients will now be told that they can still get their welfare benefits but will no longer have to try to find work. Many of them will stop trying to find work.
If they are no longer trying to find work, they no longer count as unemployed. Look in the next couple of months for a dramatic drop in the unemployment rate.
This is what Obama is doing.
He may not be able to get unemployment down to 7% but if he can break the 8% mark, the liberal media will go into overdrive announcing the great recovery is finally here, just in time for the election.
None of the major media outlets will report that if unemployment rates were calculated today the same way they were during the first Great Depression; unemployment would be at 14% or 15%.
In the next couple of months, we will see the miraculous recovery coming from the Great Obama Depression. Unfortunately the recovery will simply be more cooking of the books and Americans will be going back to work on paper only.
It’s just a façade.

I agree with your assessment.
In addition, I would add the turmoil in the mid east. Seems like there is war brewing just in time for the election. Traditionally, Americans don't change leadership in the middle of a war. However, this time, we should make an exception since our leadership is the largest part of the problem. Yes, you can look for multiple tactics to be used by the jackasses to continue their onslaught on liberty,IMHO.

I'm thinking, however, that it will be of scant help to Obama as those on welfare are, for the most part, his base anyway...to the extent that they even vote. As with his anti-business tirade, this could work against him, moving non-welfare "undecideds" and "independents" to vote against him.
Permalink Reply by Doug Sheets on Jeff, here in PA they instituted a change to the unemployment rule on Jan 1. It is MANDATORY that you look for a job every week to continue getting unemployment. I have people coming in and asking if I have any openings, then I sign a card saying they applied and off they go.
Now, the unemployed can stop looking for a job, quit unemployment and just sign up for welfare. No requirements there to even look.
U1 drops, and I'll bet the MSM never utters a peep about the increase in welfare recipients while touting the unemployment numbers. All a big DC chess game to woo the uninformed/uniterested.

Even if many of the welfare beneficiaries don't actually vote, or vote any differently because of this move (i.e., already loyal Obama drones), it will perhaps have an impact on the unemployments statistics and thereby give the illusion of improvement by just depressing the number of people who claim to be looking for work in order to get benefits.
On the other hand, note that this waiver is not automatic for all states. They are offering to make it available, expecting that Republican governors and state legislatures will jump at the opportunity rather than risk political attacks if they show that they "don't care about the poor and middle class" by refusing to go along with this illegal attack on the 1996 welfare reform. By the time that any legal fights over this action are heard in court, the election will be over, and anyone with the "standing" to challenge this move will predictably be attacked for doing so.

The one that scares me the most and is more obvious is the upheaval taking place in the Middle East.The State Department wants Israel to attack the perpetrators of the bombing in Bulgaria of Israeli citizens. This is so that the US will not have any finger prints in the matter.
Israel will respond but they will not do it under direction of the State Department. Obama has an arterial motive not to get involved in Middle Eastern affairs at this early date. Late September to late October would be more the idea time for Obama to announce some sort of action on Iran. Watch for the signs they are developing right know. Navel strengthening in the straits of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf. Tension in Syria uncertainty in Egypt etc.
Obama will bring America to it's knees if the opportunity presents its self. Mostly for political purpose and gain.
