Imagine you are a Republican Congressman. What would you do? Would you have a meeting with your constituents or would you fly to Washington to be at Barack Obama’s signing of a pork loaded transportation bill?
One Republican made that choice. Who is that Republican and what was his choice??
His name is John Mica and he is a big spending Republican from Florida.
Mica helped cosponsor the budget busting transportation bill that Barack Obama is signing today.
Mica had been scheduled to come down to Florida to brief people on a proposed commuter rail system for Florida which as included in the bill.
Instead, Mica cancelled his plans and flew back to Washington, presumably at tax payer expense so he could watch his hero, Barack Obama sign this budget busting, pork laden bill become law.
When are the Republicans going to start cutting spending?
The Transportation Bill would have been a good start.
With as much pork as there was in that bill you would think there might be something urgent for America like funding the Keystone Pipeline. Nope. That is not important but a pork barrel rail line for Florida is because John Mica is in a tough fight for reelection.
You know a bill is bad when moderate Republican Bob Corker from Tennessee, known to many as Bailout Bob, objects to a bill because it is spending too much money.
Corker said, “So I would say, all those who vote for this today are basically saying we do not have the discipline to live within our means.”
That pretty much sums it up and that is John Mica at work.
Are Republicans ever going to cut spending?
Probably not with big statists like John Mica at work.
Mica was redistricted along with Tea Party freshman Sandy Adams and they are in the same district now.
Interestingly enough, the meeting Mica ditched today, according to sources, is not even in his current district.
It is in part of what would be his new district.
John Mica used taxpayer funds to set up a meeting, that is not in his district, to bring down members of the US House Transportation Committee Staff to answer questions about how he is bringing pork spending down to Florida six weeks before his primary and he blows the meeting off so he can have a photo op with Barack Obama signing his bill.
Florida has done a great job of kicking RINOs to the curb.
In August, when Mica faces Sandy Adams in the primary, let’s hope the good voters of Florida kick this big spending statist to the curb and reelect Sandy Adams, who is a true conservative.

Permalink Reply by Jeff Dover on July 9, 2012 at 10:38am Ah, that's something I've imagined many times: what I would do if I were a congressman.
First off, I would sponsor so many bills it would choke the speakers office! I would also be sure that those bills were published and disseminated throughout my district, so everyone knew what I was sponsoring (and what the Speaker refused to bring to the floor for voting...). If it took that, I would picket the Capitol Bldg. with a sign, depending on the issue and the day. What else am I going to do? Casework? Forget it. Staffers can do that. So, if I'm not introducing legislation to turn back the tide of socialism and the assault on our constitution, what the heck AM I doing to earn my salary? Answer: nothing.
We need people in those offices who are not afraid to buck this RINO leadership and blow the whistle on them. They are Democrat enablers, not conservative, return-power-to-the-states-and-the-people leaders. It's gone too far and that's far enough. We won't turn it around with genteel talk.

The notices, detailed repair info comparable to a recall, are now mandated by law to be entirely disclosed by car makers. With a car financing loan, you can get a brand new car.
