The Drudge Report has the headline today, “Shock Poll!” The shocker is that in this poll Obama is losing to Romney by five points.
Is Matt Drudge the only one shocked by this poll?
Drudge may be the only one shocked by this poll. If he is shocked now, wait until he sees what is coming.
One of the first rules of presidential politics is that if you have an incumbent running for reelection, the election is a referendum on how he is doing as President. The decision making process for the average voter is pretty simple. They first ask themselves, ‘am I happy with the way the President has been running the nation?’ If the answer to that question is no, then they move on to the second question. That question is, ‘if I am unhappy with the current President, is the proposed replacement better than the alternative of keeping the President for four more years?’
Right now, Obama loses the first question overwhelmingly. Only 25% of Americans strongly approve of the way Obama is handling his job while 44% strongly disapprove. That is a huge gap. Only 30% of Americans believe the nation is headed in the right direction.
Obama’s numbers are bad now. They will get worse as the year goes on. With gas prices expected to spike into record territory in the next few weeks, Americans will be screaming at the pumps. Higher gas prices will mean higher prices for all items including staples such as food and clothing. The more people have to spend on food, clothing and fuel, the less money they will have for discretionary spending. With discretionary spending down, unemployment will tick back up again, despite the best efforts of the Obama regime to cook the numbers.
All of those factors will drive down Obama’s numbers even further.
The question will become, not whether Obama should be reelected. A huge majority of Americans, perhaps as much as 75% of Americans on a yes or no vote would vote for him not to have a second term. The real issue will be whether the Republican nominee can convince the American people that he is the better alternative.
The poll shows Romney beating Obama by five points. That is not really a shock. Even a candidate as flawed as Romney should be able to beat Obama.
What happens if we have a real conservative up against Obama? Then we have a chance to run the table. We have a chance to expand our lead in the House and take control of the Senate.
Romney as a nominee forfeits the greatest weapons we have against Obama. He supported all of Obama’s programs when he was the governor of Massachusetts. He has taken at least three positions on every issue.
If we can put a solid conservative up against Obama, such as Gingrich or Santorum, then we have a chance to really take America back.
It is no shock that a Republican is leading in the polls at this point. The real shocker may be if the Republicans manage not to blow it and put a conservative in the White House.

Permalink Reply by Lynda Fox on March 11, 2012 at 9:44am Drudge is so far in the tank for Romney, it's pathetic to watch. He has made an ass out of himself, and, WE have been letting him know..
As WE have been telling the RINO's....if you nominate Romney...the REAL TP will either use the write in box, choose one of the little known party candidates, or, not vote at all for POTUS. You can spin, and, cry all you want, but, this is the new normal, remember, and, WE did not bring this on.
ALL INCUMBENTS NEED TO GO.....ALL OF THEM!!!!!!
NDAA, SOPA/PIPA, HR 347....these alone should make you run for that swinging door at the borders......

YES, YES, YES WE DO REMEMBER HOW TRUTHFUL GEORGE SOROS WAS IN ANNOUNCING HOW THE LEFT WILL BE HAPPY WITH ROMNEY AS HE IS VERY MUCH LIKE OBAMA. SO FAR, THIS IS TRUE. I AM AMAZED HOW STUPID THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE TO BELIEVE THIS BULL YET AGAIN. MAYBE THEY WILL GET JUST WHAT THEY ASK FOR. BY THE WAY, SANTORUM IS NO BETTER. DUMB,DUMB. WE NEED A PERSON WHO CAN TAKE OVER FROM DAY ONE. THERE IS NO LAW HE COULD MAKE TO FORCE AMERICANS TO PRACTICE HIS BELIEFS FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND.
NOW, WHAT IS OBAMA GOING TO DO IN THE SUPPORT OF ISRAEL. NEWS-YESTERDAY OVER 100-BOMBS AND MISSELS HAVE HIT ISRAEL SATURDAY. PEOPLE ARE NOW IN SHELTERS. LET US SEE.
Permalink Reply by American Infidel on March 11, 2012 at 2:38pm Lynda, you are soooooo right about Matt Drudge. He is the mainstream media now, just another cheerleader for RomneyCare. Yet another example: last night, Rick Santorum took the Kansas caucus in a landslide, beating his nearest competitor (RomneyCare) by THIRTY points, 51% to 21%. Drudge's headline was not even about the election, it was about Obama's poll numbers. Buried further down in his website was a small headline that read, "Kansas Caucus Results". How hard would it have been for him to write "Santorum takes Kansas in a landslide", or at the very least "Santorum wins Kansas caucuses". Drudge is so insecure about his idol RomneyCare that he won't even report it properly when he is beaten by one of his rivals. How pathetic, especially coming from the same man who broke the Monica Lewinsky story. How far down the black hole he has fallen!
One might assume that the Republican party rejects a Conservative candidate merely to remain free of the influence of conservitave elements such as the Tea party movement.
Or, to rephrase it, they'd rather risk losing than bend to the more fervent constituents!
To become conservative they see as losing the power to play Santa Clause on the present massive scale.
Permalink Reply by Finnegan's Wakeup on March 11, 2012 at 9:47am I am not shocked, but I am surprised. If an unlikeable man like Romney can lead Obama by 5, can you imagine what a real conservative could do?
I would also not be smug, if I were a Romney supporter. At this point, the poll is probably almost entirely a referendum on Obama. But the more people know about Romney, the less that will be true.
Permalink Reply by harriet n. brinker on March 11, 2012 at 2:02pm I agree however if Romney got in office we the people could count on Obamacare not being appealed also nothing likely will be done with the incompetent justices heading our courts. I am so scared for our good people who work hard.
Permalink Reply by SgtGrumpy on March 11, 2012 at 9:54am Remember that on election day the democrats and all the liberal socialist organizations will start running their busses picking up the people who want to continue getting their free handouts. They don't know and don't care about what is happening to our country as long as they get their freebies

Permalink Reply by LaV Wood on March 11, 2012 at 10:56am I agree 100%, Gerald! This is the closest Progressives (world-wide vision) have come to "transforming" America into a mass similar to Third World Countries,...able to be controlled by a few rich elites (stealing the wealth of the average American's labor). They will do everything to keep their momentum headed toward victory. Gore's fight to take the election from Bush was a major loss to the momentum they had in place at that time. It's just that most of US were totally unaware of what was really happening...
Their words, of jobs and the "growing" economy, are just diversions and meaningless...(except when Obama said he wanted to "transform America" and gave other clues into their mindset...energy "necessarily skyrocket," etc.).
If you have time to follow forums and post opinions, PLEASE also do the research and support, with money or time, the candidates you believe will turn back this destruction to our Constitution! It's up to "We The People..."
Permalink Reply by Charles F Nichols on March 11, 2012 at 7:37pm Something to not be overlooked or taken lightly. In 08 I remember how amazed I was at seeing all the buses going here and there. As I recall I had never seen so many buses on election day. Those buses, they were completely full. This time. We better have our own buses.
The shock will be if there is an election. If the usurper in chief does not manufacture some phony "crisis" in order to declare martial law, suspend the Constitution, and cancel the election. Make no mistake, he will!
