Newt had the right idea all along. Unfortunately he is gone from the race now and what ever else Mitt Romney will or will not do, one of Newt’s better ideas will not be adopted.
What was that idea and what was he so right about?
He was right about the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the need to simply abolish it.
The 9th Circuit has not come out with a new outrageous decision. They do that all the time. No, the 9th Circuit is doing something even more outrageous.
In the middle of the Great Obama Depression, the 9th Circuit is blowing a million dollars so they can have a really nice getaway at a resort in Hawaii.
Shades of the GSA?
The event is the 9th Circuit’s annual judicial conference. In fairness to the 9th Circuit, that Circuit does include Hawaii and the outlying Pacific territories. And every Circuit has a judicial conference. These are legitimate events where judges and lawyers get their continuing education requirements and it is a good chance for the judges to hear from the lawyers on issues that affect the administration of justice.
Most of the other circuits realize there is a Depression going on and have cut back their Judicial Conferences. Not the 9th Circuit.
They are going to a luxury resort in Hawaii.
Travel alone for this conference is going to cost almost $700,000. Then you have the additional expenses that go along with that, including lodging and an almost $400 a day per diem. In addition, Breitbart.com estimates that there will be another $700,000 spent in salaries for the 267 Judges during their time in Hawaii.
Newt Gingrich called for the abolition of the 9th Circuit during his campaign. The abolition of the 9th Circuit would have put all of those judges out of work. The 9th Circuit is the most liberal and most reversed of the Federal Appellate Circuits.
And now, they can have the reputation for the hardest partying (on the taxpayer dime) Federal Circuit.
It really is past time for the 9th Circuit to be done away with. As real Americans lose their homes, have to make all kinds of sacrifices and do not get to go on family vacations, why should these government employees get this kind of ritzy all expense paid vacation?
It is utterly insane.
Of course, the 9th Circuit, being the most liberal, fits right in with the Obama model of let’s see how much money we can waste.
If Newt Gingrich had been elected President, there is a decent chance the 9th Circuit might have been abolished. Unfortunately, even if Mitt Romney is elected, he will never do anything that bold, no matter how bad the 9th Circuit is.
sorry, please specify exactly WHAT Beck lied about. You probably don't even listen to his show, so this should be interesting.... He called Newt a Progressive. He simply cited Newt's OWN admissions that Woodrow Wilson and FDR were his favorite presidents. Two of the biggest Progressives who have ever occupied the White House. Hmmm, doesn't sound like a LIE to me, then, calling Newt Progressive. Newt wanted to increase the State Dept by 50%. Sounds Progressive to me. Newt favored the Individual Mandate for health insurance. Progressive. He attacked Romney for his time at Bain Capital as a venture capitalist. What conservative does THAT? here's an interesting little speech from Newt himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zex6qptVIPU OH well, your boy Newt sank faster than an Italian cruise ship, but you will continue to say he would have inspired Americans? Where were any of his friends he served with in Congress all those years to back him? (crickets chirping...)
Glenn Beck deliberately misrepresented positions and statements from Newt's past and rarely, if ever, included actual content or any more recent statements where Newt explained BOTH his comments [when made] and how his views changed [and why].
Very early on Glenn not only stood opposed to Newt being the GOP nominee, but mocked him and used innuendo, no longer current positions, misinformation and disinformation against Newt.
I am a long time listener of Beck on Radio before he ever appeared on CNN, and a listener and watcher of Beck during his Fox years. I am also a GBTV subscriber. Beck has some good points and has had much awesome content. However, many of Beck's least honest, and least honorable moments and content pertained to Newt during the campaign.
All that said, Beck didn't gloss over all of Romney's abysmal record ... however, Beck and Romney do share the common lie of claiming that the Mormon religion worships and accepts the God of the Bible and the "Tri-Unity" of the Three persons of God, ... Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Mormon theology teaches that all spirits are "eternal." That god currently was once no different than any other spirit and that Glenn's spirit is as eternal as god's [Mormon theology teaches that ALL of our spirits existed eternally even before God created anything].
Obviously, nothing could be further from the TRUTH of God's Nature and Attributes, nor further from the TRUTH of His WORD, than Mormon theology.
The Bible specifically declares that God "finished, closed, and sealed," His Revealed WORD yet Mormons elevate the Book of Mormon above the Bible and deny much contained within the Bible. I could NOT care less what obscure or bizarre "practices" Mormons [including Beck] use in their church services etc. However, the Mormon religion and teachings are anathema to God's WORD and His Truth.
All that said, Newt is not a "perfect conservative." NONE of us are and no such human exists who is a "perfect conservative." Newt was simply the conservative with the greatest record of conservative achievements and conservative leadership. He was the most intelligent, most articulate, and the one with the greatest expertise in what needs reformed in our government and record of getting such reforms enacted.
Hubris played a large role in 9 folks declaring themselves candidates for the GOP presidential nomination. Other factors added to the hubris of so many, including the strategy of many who would rather Obama were re-elected rather than a true conservative of Newt's caliber and achievements [including many registered republicans].
I continue to hope and pray that God may yet intervene in the GOP nomination. I continue to point out that no one [including Romney] has yet secured 1144 delegates for the first ballot at the convention.
If, however, Romney becomes the nominee, it will be the result of a process created specifically to prevent, or at least lessen the likelihood, of a true conservative becoming the nominee.
That is why the TEA Party and conservatives need to infiltrate every precinct, ward, and position of the GOP in every State and County in this republic. We embrace and support the Creator and founders, and what they wrought in birthing our constitutional republic.
We are opposed by a wide array of folks, whom though they disagree on much, they are united in opposition to our Creator, our founders, and our constitutions and republic.
Cha I enjoyed your blog except the falsehoods about the Mormon doctrine.
I have carefully researched official Mormon teachings and discussed them with Mormons every time an opportunity presents itself.
If you truly believe I made false comments ... please list them here and I will happily defend them.
Mormonism is truly a religion of TWO faces ... one they show to outsiders and the other they show only to insiders.
You got that right!
It's a cult! Joseph Smith said in 1938 that he would be the second Muhammad. He has taken from YHVHs living word and added to those scriptures from both his own heart while experiencing drug induced visions and hysteria's and added to scripture from the false prophet Muhammad's Qur'an. Willard The Rat can believe in whatever he want's, and I can say I won't vote for him because of those beliefs period. I won't vote for him either. My faith says It's a betrayal to YHVH..,How can anyone defend his right to believe in the manner that he does, yet turn around and demand I vote for him betraying my father YHVH, how dare you challenge my rights, I dare them Chas to challenge that as well...
No falsehood Debra inasmuchas the Mormons do not believe in the Trinity as most mainline Protestant, Catholics and Orthodox Eastern Christians do. Therefore, the Mormons are NOT Christian. Check out Wikipedia. Also what is interesting is that the church O was "raised" in was the Unitive Church which also does not accept the Trinity as mainline Christians do.
Charlotte I do not have to check out Wikipedia. Mormons believe in the Trinity. I have the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price and others in my book case. And do read the Articles of Faith of the Mormon Church. Clearly states they believe in. . .
Yes Debra they do believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit however, they do not believe them as ONE.
Debrajoe - in the Spirit of Christ, I reply regarding Mormonism. My son got hold of a copy of "Out of Mormonism" by Judy Robertson. It is very instructive and enlightening about Mormonism. I have Mormons I have worked with on many projects; they are all fine and welcoming folks, but when one of them had me begin to read the "Book of Mormon" while riding in her car (captive audience) my toes began to numb; I stopped reading, sensing through the Holy Spirit that this book might be something other than good. My mom took us little children to her friend's Mormon church one Christmas time and the man played a ukele and it was lovely and warm -we were poverty-stricken and estranged from my father at that time. Thankfully, we didn't get caught up in the Mormon beliefs, just had a welcome nice time. Another time, grown-up, I was invited to the open house of a Mormon temple in Oregon. We put on blue slippers over our shoes, lots of people there, but what I experienced at that Mormon temple was an icy sterility and as my skin crawled, I couldn't wait to get out. I pray the Holy Spirit informs you of this misguided faith.
I did get the same feeling. I know exactly what you mean.
As a matter of fact, they continued to come to my door so many times AFTER I had already told them I wasn't interested that I was forced to change tactics.
The next time they knocked on the door and I opened it. I finally said, "Look, I know ya'll think it is an honor to go to prison for your beliefs. IF you come up on my door step one more time and ring my door bell, I will help you fulfill your trust in God because you WILL go to jail.
Finally they stopped coming by.
I never read the Book of Mormon because I didn't want to start getting it confused with the Bible. My question is why do they need "supplements" to the Bible when God has already instructed us in the Bible?
