With less than three weeks to go before the Republican National Convention, the Romney campaign is picking up so much steam it may make the Titanic look like a successful sailing.
The Romney campaign has done it again. Do they want to win? Do they have a clue? Has no one ever explained the Napoleon rules to them?
First, for those who are not familiar with the Napoleon Rules, it is actually one rule. The little General is credited with it and it is good advice.
“When your opponent is destroying themselves, do not get in their way.”
That is so obvious, even a liberal Republican from Massachusetts should be able to get it.
Then again, maybe not.
We are less than three weeks out from the convention. Barring something unprecedented, Romney is going to be nominated. And we conservatives are going to have an excruciating three months to the general election.
The gaffe from Romney central came today at a moment when the Napoleon Rules should have been applied. The media has been talking about the anti-Romney ad featuring steel worker Joe Soptic. Soptic’s wife died of cancer. Some liberal groups were trying to make hay out of the fact Soptic was laid off from his company in 2002 after Romney’s Bain Capital took over. The line was that Soptic was laid off in 2002, lost his insurance and then when his wife became ill, they could not get treatment.
What they missed was that Soptic’s wife was still employed and she still had health insurance. This was a great blow up moment that had Team Obama reeling.
But just to prove they don’t want to win, at what should have been a great moment for the Romney campaign, they stepped in it and stopped the left from destroying itself with a lying ad.
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul then went off the deep end. She said if Soptic’s wife had been in Massachusetts, Romneycare would have covered her.
Is anyone at the Romney campaign awake? Does anyone have a clue? Is anyone there a conservative?
The answer to all of those questions is probably a resounding no.
I am asked all of the time, what is the difference between Obama and Romney?
I tell people that Romney is not an anti-American Marxist. That is about it.
During the campaign, Romney ran to the right of almost everyone. He tried to pull off the shtick that he was a social conservative. He tried to claim he was a fiscal conservative. He tried to claim he was a hawk on defense. He ran to the right of Newt Gingrich on Immigration. And of course he denounced Obamacare.
Apparently the only thing wrong with a massive expansion of a government medical entitlement in his eyes is the wrong guy has his name on it.
Every time conservatives try to rally around Romney, his campaign does something to push them away. For the brain trust in the Romney campaign, here’s a question for you to think about.
How many times do you think you can push conservatives away before we finally say, “screw you,” and walk away.
Do you think Romney will get elected without conservative help?
A couple of weeks ago I was at an event where a major figure in the Romney campaign also happened to be. By accident I ended up next to this person and introduced myself. Given that I am not shy, I bluntly asked if the Romney campaign was going to continue to ignore the Tea Party.
I gave this person my card and told them my door was open.
I have not heard from the Romney campaign nor has any other major national Tea Party figure that I am aware of.
Perhaps a miracle will occur in Tampa. The odds are against it. My chances of winning Powerball are greater. Fortunately for Romney, the Libertarians once again went with a joke of a candidate. Had they selected someone who’s platform was a little more serious than gay marriage and legalizing marijuana, this year they might have gotten serious traction.
Someone please tell the Romney campaign about Napoleon Rules before it is too late.

Permalink Reply by Roger Davies on August 9, 2012 at 8:46am I was in Riverton, WY in '96 and attended the Republican state Convention. I was able to speak to the Republican Governor, then, the Republican Senator. I explained to each man that with all the ammunition that the democRATS gave to the Republicans, the election should be like falling off a log! And, that if we do not win this election, meaning the presidency, I would know that there is a conspiricy against this Country. They both tucked their tails and walked away from me! I thought, "Houston, we have a problem."
Once again, we have a problem. If you think there isn't an organized effort to destroy this Country, you have your head..., well, you are not looking at the facts and history!

Maybe I'll do it for you!
You're doing the work of a troll...
Permalink Reply by Don Davis on August 9, 2012 at 9:42pm I just thought it was funny because Romney's campaign was driving off a cliff. Which is the entire subject matter we're talking about. But I will get rid of it. Lighten up please. :)
Permalink Reply by Jeff Waller on August 10, 2012 at 7:39am Don, we take trolls very seriously here. If you are not one, I'm sorry. But the image was inappropriate. The implication was of a lie that the Left made up about the Romney's dog being strapped to the roof of the family car. The truth was that the dog was in a pet carrier which was strapped to the roof.
On the lighter side: I disagree with the assertion that Romney is driving off a cliff.
He is still in the parking lot, looking for the keys! Find an image like that and post it!

If the truth hurts, I'm sorry. I will vote for Romney, just like I voted for McCain. Why? The alternative is UNACCEPTABLE!
Don:
Thank you.

Permalink Reply by PC Bob on August 9, 2012 at 11:40am I keep hearing this mantra, that even if we don't beat Obama we MUST win the House and the Senate. Think about it, folks. Obama is ALREADY bypassing the House and doing just as he pleases, in spite of the Congress. What is going to change if we get a majority in both Houses? We will still have a dictator in charge and nothing we can do to control him. The ONLY solution is to get him out of office, PLUS win a big majority in both Houses. ANYTHING less than this is a loss. No compromises! Romney is not everyone's first choice for a candidate, agreed. We stood by and let the MSM and the Dems redicule our other choices, and now we only have Mitt. A brokered convention? Yeah, right. With a choice between what, 6 other possibles? I don't see a route to the WH there, either. Our biggest problem will be getting Mitt to understand that the Republican Party is NOT the entire USA. In fact, many of us are growing weary from being mislead by them. A new party? OK, but let's make everyone who wants to join it PROVE that they are true conservatives. How do we do that? I don't know, since everyone and his or her brother CLAIMS to be a conservative. Face it, there is only the one Democrat Party, and then there is everyone else. When we form these splinter groups we guarantee our loss.
Permalink Reply by Billy Bowlegs on August 9, 2012 at 1:10pm I play devil's advocate a lot to try to get HEE HAW JUNCTION to think about the consequences of not having a GOP President in 2012. If Santa Clause runs for the GOP Ticket, we need Santa as the President not that SOBOBOZO!
Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election….
If Mitt does not win the election. (We can also add in names for the Pres Slot such as Newt, Sarah Palin, or any good candidate that wins the Nomination Nod at the RNC).
Those who have hesitation on voting, keep four things in mind: (Original Says "My Friends", but I changed that to those on HEE HAW JUNCTION)
1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78
2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year
3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August
4.. Justice Ginsburg turned 81 about a week ago.
We wish them all well, of course, but the brute fact is that whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come.
If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky…
So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didn’t get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win...
Imagine this: SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC "Place Mat" HOLDER ----- I do hope stupidity is surpressed long enough that we do not have SOBOBOZO nominating SOBJUSTICES (you can readily see what his two are doing openly against the Constitution).
If there is anyone that has a problem please address it so we all know; but be careful, TROLLing is not permitted.
After you have stopped gasping, kindly send this forward to your list of concerned citizens!
Permalink Reply by Jeff Waller on August 9, 2012 at 8:46pm Imagine if Romney gets to pick all four of them, we don't control
the Senate, and Harry Reid won't allow votes to confirm any of
the picks.
Permalink Reply by Shirley M. Eliakis on August 10, 2012 at 9:38am We need to geet a replacement for Harry Reid, for certain!
Permalink Reply by John Bellaire on August 9, 2012 at 1:28pm The Obama gang will never admit to doing anything wrong. Romney does not understand how nasty the Obama administration is. Continious lies and coverups are the norm. Those people are capable of doing anything including crime of the highest degree of felony to get Obama reelected if they have not done so already. Obama outspent McCain about 20 to 1 in the 2008 campaign. This time Obama will be short on cash. He can not campaign on the truth and his record. About all he has left is unethical or illegal dirty tricks. Obama has never let anything unethical or illegal stand in his way before has he? Romney may not be the best for the GOP nomination, but a communist he isn't. The hope someone else gets it is fading fast. If the folks want rid of Obama, and that may be the only hope to save the country, Romney may be the only chance. Anyhow, you do not have to think Romney is such a perfect and wonderful guy to vote for him. Think of it this way, you are voting against Obama and what may become a totalitarian despotic government for America.
