A huge event is coming to Washington. You are invited. This will be one of the biggest and most important Tea Party events this year.
What is it?
Herman Cain’s Cain Solutions will be in Washington for a big event on April 16th. Tea Party Nation is one of many Tea Party groups endorsing this event and we will be there to support it.
Why this event?
Herman Cain, in an interview with Tea Party Nation said its pretty simple. “If we do not provide solutions for people to get excited about, the GOP nominee, who ever that is, will lose this fall.”
Cain is right about that. We have to do something to energize the GOP base if we are going to get rid of Barack Obama. With the growing probability that the nominee is going to be Mitt Romney, we conservatives must have something to rally around and something we can try to use as leverage against what may well be a liberal Republican administration.
The centerpiece of Herman Cain’s solutions and the April 16th rallies is going to be the 9-9-9 plan.
When Cain was running for President, he made 9-9-9 the center of his campaign. The 9-9-9 issue grew beyond the Cain campaign and survived it.
The 9-9-9 plan is a plan to replace the current tax system with a simplifies system of a 9% income tax, a 9% national sales tax and a 9% corporate income tax.
Part of the effort in Washington on April 16th will involve Tea Party activists going to their Members of Congress and asking them to support 9-9-9. If they do not, Cain said there would be pressure put on the members of Congress. Cain said it is “all about making them feel the heat,” then he quoted former Senator Everett Dirksen, “when they (politicians) feel the heat, they will see the light.”
People who read my blog on a regular basis know that I have been critical of the 9-9-9 plan in the past. I do have a serious concern about it. If we create a new form of tax (the national sales tax) without replacing the income tax, will we see all three tax rates raised in the future and this exercise will only be giving the left a new form of taxation?
Herman Cain wants 9-9-9. Some of the liberals would want to quickly make this 19-19-19 and if Barack Obama had his way, it would probably become 99-99-99.
So why am I now in favor of the 9-9-9 plan?
Favor might be too strong a word. I would like it a lot better with some iron clad guarantees that those tax rates could not be raised.
Anyone who reads my blogs on a regular basis has probably heard me relate the story of Generals Eisenhower and Patton meeting before D-Day during World War 2.
Eisenhower invited Patton to his office to discuss the invasion plans for Europe. After listening to the plans, Patton said to Eisenhower, “I don’t like your plan.” Eisenhower asked, “What’s your plan?” Patton answered, “I don’t have one.” To which Eisenhower said, “Fine. I like my plan better than I like your plan.”
9-9-9 may not be the perfect plan but right now, it is the plan that is out there. Herman Cain is doing a masterful job of creating interest in his plan and leading a grassroots effort to change the system.
Cain says we need an alternative to the status quo because the only one’s benefiting from the status quo are the politicians, the professional left and the Unions.
Cain is right. We need change and at this point, I’m willing to go out on a limb to start looking at alternatives to defeat the broken status quo.

Permalink Reply by faith m martin on Amen and correctly said David. lower income working Americans effectively pay about 8-10% income tax and already pay a 7-10% state sales tax, so now we want to add another 9% on the sales tax, totaling a 16-19% sales tax, and add at least 1% to their income tax. 999 is a poor mans tax, it taxes working Americans more than they can afford. I am sorry, there is No Way I can back 9-9-9 in any way shape or form.

I am so excited about this,it will do wonders for us ALL to have this done. We had made great strides with this movement and then we just stoped having rallies, people were sure that we were defeated on the Obamacare and that we just gave up...and I am talking about the other Conservatives not just the liberals that were hoping that we went away. So this...this will bring us all back together once again! THANK YOU JUDSON AND CAIN for doing this for us. This will help us WIN BABY WIN!! WE ARE WINNING!! :D

It will get rid of the IRS, the personal income tax, the corporate income tax (which there is no such thing), the gift tax, inheritance taxes, etc. But most of all, it will give independence back to the people by not allowing the fat cats in DC to control people's lives. I hope there will be plenty of tea-partiers at this meeting to bring it to the forefront.
There are about one hundred supporters of the FairTax in congress at the present time and there needs to be more. Educate yourselves and contact your representatives and senators. Contact you friends, relatives, and co-workers and get them to do the same.

Permalink Reply by Dagny T. on Kenny, most definitely the FairTax is the best of all but the 999 is the stepping stone to it. The Fairtax requires a Constitutional change and 999 does not. 999 can be implemented much faster than the FairTax and offer us and the country a lot of relief very quickly. The FairTax, which I have been actively advocating for for years, will take at least a year, at best, to be implemented so the taxes levied under the current code can be collected for that year. Before it can be implemented the FairTax Act not only needs to be passed but the 16th amendment repealed; the FairTax could be passed but it is not allowed to be enacted till the 16th is repealed and that could take a while.
999 is part 1 of Herman Cain's plan. Part 2 is exactly what you, I and so many of us are wanting, the FairTax. The good thing is at least 2/3 of 999 will give the very same power to the people as the FairTax would. If the government tries to raise the sales tax we quit buying and their revenue goes down till they comply with what we consumers will be willing to pay. If they try to raise the corporate tax (which any FT supporter knows there is no such thing since those expenses get passed on to the consumer and thus is but another name for a sales tax) we consumers will simply react the same way and the government will lose revenue till they comply with us. The 9% income tax is the necessary evil in this temporary case. It is what makes rewriting the tax code and implementing the new one a relatively quick possibility since there will be no need to go through what will surely be a lengthy Constitutional change process.
