Mitt Mania
Republicans, at least some of them are now having Mitt-mania since it appears now that Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee. They are now gloating over Romney as the next great conservative savior.
Haven’t we been down this road before?
Actually, we have.
In 2010, Scott Brown ran to replace Ted Kennedy in the Senate. He was the 41st vote that would break the Democrats’ super majority in the Senate. The Tea Party gathered around Brown and when he won, euphoria swept conservatism.
Some people immediately compared him to Reagan and “Scott Brown for President” graphics appeared on FaceBook. Some of us who had been around the political block before were not nearly as excited.
We knew what we were getting.
Today, Scott Brown is a reliable crossover vote, who often sells conservatives out in the Senate. As he runs for reelection, he is gathering almost no Tea Party support. While conservatives would prefer him to Elizabeth Warren, we are not falling all over ourselves to help him like we did two years ago.
The same is true for Mitt Romney.
Some of those who are suffering from Mitt-mania have been trying to compare Romney to Reagan, noting that Reagan governed a liberal state too.
The difference is, Ronald Reagan had a conservative track record before he became governor. Mitt Romney’s record was that of a liberal.
With Mitt Romney, we will not have taxes cut, nor will we have spending cut. The next four years will be the status quo. If he gets the chance to appoint a Supreme Court justice, think someone along the lines of David Souter instead of Clarence Thomas.
If the Supreme Court does not strike down Obamacare, he will make the same effort John Boehner has made to repeal it. Namely, none.
As bad as Romney is, Obama is worse. Most conservatives, including myself subscribe to the ABO theory. Anybody but Obama.
This fall, if Romney is in fact the nominee, I will go into the voting booth with a nose clamp, a large bottle of Mylanta, and probably a barf bag and vote for Romney.
Voting for Romney is truly the lesser of two evils. Instead of good things happening, all we can say is they will be less bad under Romney.
The only good news is if we can get some good conservatives in the House and Senate, they can moderate Romney.
But let’s make no mistake about what we are getting. We are getting a Massachusetts liberal. This is how he acted before he was governor. This is how he acted when he was governor. This is how he acted after he left the Governor’s office.
He is better than Obama and this is the year of ABO: Anybody but Obama.

You're wrong! We must get this "birther stuff" out of out heads. It is doing nothing but allowing the other side to position us as racists and bigots. The propaganda that you see from some of these right wing fringe web sites doesn't hold water.. If it did, our leaders would have noted it long ago. We need to dismiss it from our minds. It's not what the 14th amendment said.

To me just like the last election I strongly suggest primary reform so that there is not more than 30 days between the first and last primary
This whole splitting the conservative vote and staging liberal states in cleanup Phase is insane
The monies would be saved and the battering of our candidates would be gone

i just saved your contact info. thank you. i think some anti romney stems from his mormonism ,some from stubbornism, and some people are stuck in group think. then there are those who need something to complain about and want to feel important.

For myself, it has nothing to do with religion.
I'm very concerned, though, that Mitt Romney seems to want to keep everybody happy. He honors his parents, and is proud to follow them in decisions that they made, rather than just standing for what he sees as right.
He reminds me a lot of my brother, whom I love dearly, who has compromised repeatedly in his life, just to 'keep the peace' ....so to speak.

I'd vote for Mickey Mouse before Obummer any day of the week. I think the only difference between O and Mit is one loves his country and the other doesn't.When it comes down to it,what choice do we have?
