What else can you say about the Republicans? The chief criteria for nominating someone seems to be can we pick the guy most likely to lose in November?
Last Thursday, John Roberts had managed to do what no one else could do. He had gotten the Tea Party and conservatives behind Mitt Romney.
Now, Romney has managed to blow it.
How is Romney managing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
Romney, though his surrogate Eric Ferhnstrom, the same guy who uttered the famous etch a sketch line in the primaries, came out and said Obama is right. The Obamacare tax is not a tax.
Famed pollster Scott Rasmussen said that conservative anger over Obamacare was hitting the stratosphere. What does Romney do? He sends out his surrogate who announces that Romney agrees with Obama.
Today in the National Journal, Josh Kraushaar was even more explicit about the Romney campaign. He said the Romney campaign was declaring a cease-fire on an issue that is potent to the Republican base.
Earth to Republican Party: You are about to nominate an idiot.
Obamacare is a tax. While John Roberts did not do the right thing and sold us out, he did do something. By declaring it a tax, he put it right into the Republicans’ wheelhouse.
Conservatives are not going to sit idly by this time. We have had it. The RINO wing of the Party shoved Romney down our throats. We were going to line up behind him, especially after the Supreme Court ruling on the Obamacare tax and what does Romney do?
He commits ritual political suicide.
It is painfully obvious that Romney will not repeal Obamacare. It is painfully obvious Romney is a liberal. Eric Fuhrnstrom all but announced that back when he made his famous etch a sketch comment.
There is still time to stop this insanity.
We have not worked so hard to simply put a guy into that office who is going to change the name of Obamacare, make a few minor, cosmetic changes and then try to put lipstick on that pig and sell it to us.
If the Republican Party goes ahead and nominates Mitt Romney, it is committing political suicide.
The Tea Party is ready to walk.
In a piece in Breitbart.com, Joel Pollack said those very words.
Pollack told Romney to quit if he was not going to go all in to repeal Obamacare. Romney will not quit. His ego is too big. It is up to the delegates to save the Republican Party.
It is time for a revolt.
I have said I would go to the polling place with a large and cold bottle of Pepto-Bismol, a stomach distress bag and pull the lever for Romney, praying I don’t vomit all over the voting machine.
Last Thursday, I was even considering getting a Romney sticker because of the Supreme Court decision.
Now, if this is how Romney is going to act, I’m not even sure I will vote for him. What is the difference between him and Obama? If the Obamacare tax survives, we will see an economic collapse like none of us have ever seen.
The Obamacare tax is the issue that unites conservatives. If Romney is going to blow this issue off, he is an idiot. This tells us what he will do as President.
We had better get to work saving the Senate and the House, because no matter who wins the election this fall, we have lost.
Carolyn, Hamilton, I never voted for him in the first place. Did you? If Romney says he will not undo what Obama has done, what's the point voting.
Carolyn, firstly you didn't answer my question. Did you vote for Obama? Second I never mentioned splitting the ticket by voting for a 3rd party. I simply said why vote for the same thing with just a different name.
Sorry I did not answer you immediately.. I do have other things to do but listen to you.
I DID NOT VOTE FOR THE RAT...I would never have voted for him. If you don't vote you are giving
a vote to obama.
The truth is that Obamacare is not a tax and everyone knows it, but are calling it a tax since Roberts deemed it to be a tax. Unfortunately, Furhnstrom messed up and the left are taking off with it as usual. The left always behaves this way and I really don't care what they say. They lie left and right, what's new. But people who hate Obamacare are going to vote for Romney, regardless of Furhnstrom---I know I am. Romney has said he'd repeal Obamacare and he'll be held accountable. He must be held accountable! Obama will not repeal Obamacare, GUARANTEED! To not vote for Romney, you will without a doubt put Obama in office and be guaranteed Obamacare, forever. Romney will have to do for the next 4 years. He is better than Obama. I am not quitting!! I don't like what Furhnstrom said any more than you do, but we need to get past Furhnstrom and focus on the bigger picture. I wish we did have Newt or Cain, but we don't and it is too late for another candidate now. We must stay united behind Romney---the next 4 years will be better under Romney than Obama. We must vote for Romney!!
Obama care is a tax...And your taxes are going up on everything you do or own.
We must stay on track and vote for Romney.
It is emphatically the province and duty of the judicial department to say what the law is. Marshall, Chief Justice, Marbury v Madison, 5 U.S. (1 Cranch) 137 (1803).
Whether we agree or not, a majority of the Supreme Court has said that Obamacare is a tax. Until and unless a later Supreme Court overturns that decision, that is the law.
I do not know if Romney will overturn Obamacare. If he overturns Obamacare, I have deep concerns that he will replace it with something equally as bad or worse than Obamacare. I have no confidence in the present leadership of the Republican Party to hold Romney accountable, both because the leadership of the party (collectively and individually) is a failure, and a cowardly failure at that, and because the Republican Party generally is a slave to liberal ideas and a slave to the acquisition of power. I also am unconvinced that Romney and Obama are morally and philosophically different persons. They may travel different paths towards their goals, but in the end, the arrive at the same goal, and that goal is Big Government Socialism, not Small Government Conservative Republicanism.
It's amazing how so many have selective hearing. We are supporting Romney, but he also has to give back to us, in return.
He has to energize his rhetoric and once and for all seek the TP's help. His PAC is not very helpful, either, by sending out morons to say the wrong things.
At the moment Obama is still leading Romney in favorability. That's not a good sign after what just went down at the supreme court. There is plenty of room for improvements.
I am asking Romney to listen to us for once, that's all. What is the harm in that? As it stands he has a real uphill battle.
I would also love to hear a well thought out plan to replace Obamacare, not just saying that it will be replaced. We, the people have been swindled long enough.
Your comments are true, and the Tea Party has to have positive leadership: a person who will motivate and inspire the various members. We do not need a steady diet of negativity.
I think what is palpable is frustration that our beliefs are not being championed by our allegedly-conservative leaders. The biggest steady diet of negativity is projected upon the conservatives by the liberals. They actually ridicule conservatives for being too religious, and at the same time they accuse conservatives of being heartless, greedy, selfish, etc. The liberals promise to give everything to everybody for free, and so far the response to counter that has been anything but inspirational.
Until the conservatives learn to answer these absurd, silly, and contradictory accusations in a simple, forceful, and/or mocking way, they are left to suffer from the above accusations being believed by the uneducated masses. The difference in the two philosophies is mostly in choosing which mechanism to help others, either voluntary or forced. But we rarely ever hear that mentioned, despite the fact that the forced model is nothing but stealing made legal.
Carl, a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for obummer. If you split the vote obummer WILL be re-elected. Don't care how you feel about Romney (I don't really like him either) but if you do not vote Republican, you are voting for obummer.
Just the way it is.
To Thomas, America has had a Catholic president, and suprising, he did not try to make America a Catholic nation. We have a Muslims who says he is the president, and he will make you become a Muslims. What is wrong having a CHRISTIAN MORMON?
I did not say there was anything wrong with it, but they are not Christian. If you disagree, answers the questions I asked above.
