When you look for the liberal moron of the week it is hard to make a decision.  It is not because it is hard to find liberal morons.  It is hard because there are so many of them.

But now, there is one who is this week’s clear winner.

Who is it?

His name is Thomas Walker and he is an English Professor at Iowa State University.  At ISU, the College Republicans decided to hold a drive to collect items to send to our troops in Afghanistan.

He wrote:

I read in Tuesday's Iowa State Daily that the College Republicans have begun collecting sundries for U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why? Doesn't the U.S. Army victual its soldiers? Don't their families send them yuletide goodies? Aren't GIs paid enough to buy what they need, and even what they want?

"As Republicans we believe in charity," stated Jeremy Freeman, a member of the College Republicans. Donating toiletries, boxed and canned foods, socks and beanies to U.S. soldiers who can already deodorize themselves, who eat better than the poorest Americans and who are gallantly garbed, is an eleemosynary travesty.

Necessities should be doled out to people who really need them and who might get them if not for the hundreds of billions of dollars being funneled to the Pentagon in the greatest squandering of money on the planet. If anything, Republicans should sympathize with veterans struggling to find employment, a challenge that may daunt the discharged soldier, who might wish he had reenlisted. Soldiers are to Republicans as fetuses are to them: prized. But once out of the womb-like army, Republican solicitude for hapless veterans goes where extracted zygotes go.

"We get to show the troops we still appreciate what they're doing for us," said another College Republican. What are they doing for us? Nothing. But against us they're doing a lot: creating anti-American terrorists in the countries they occupy. Said the same College Republican, "It can't be fun to be away from your family for the holidays. As if American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan had been conscripted? They chose to leave home.

Why do Republicans care so much about the military? Because the military-industrial complex is dear to their simplistic laissez-faire fantasies: a bottom-line patriotism that excludes the people at the bottom.

Thomas Walker has the constitutional right to be an idiot.  That is a right he seems to exercise on a regular basis.  If he wants to be a moron and let everyone know it, he has that right.  If he wants to publish his moronic opinions, he is welcome to.

However, the taxpayers of Iowa pay his salary and I bet they are tired of bozos like him who are supposed to be educators, but all too often end up being indoctrinators.

Here is a simple idea.  Eliminate his job.  He probably has tenure, so he cannot be fired.  But his job can be eliminated.  If this buffoon outrages the people of Iowa then they should all call their Legislators on Monday and tell them when the Iowa Legislature meets in January and starts working on a budget, there is one position in the Iowa State University English Department that needs to be eliminated.

Perhaps someone should remind Walker of the oft-repeated expression, “It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Walker has removed all doubt.

YOU AND ME!!! (NOT BY OUR CHOICE) One just has to remember, the people, that pick up the tab for all the present administration's ill-founded and unilateral decisions. We have no say anymore. That A H, who gave us Obama Care, bailed out the BIG business interests, (where you and I can't get a loan) killed the housing market in my state (Nevada, one of the worst hit) sends BILLIONS of our money to the ARAB countries, (who in turn buy weapons from Russia and China and shoot Americans on sight, anywhere in the world.) are the ones funding this debacle. I know you know that. For the love of God, let us (The Tea-Party) stick together behind N.G. and get out of this nonsense. If we are going to war.... THEN, LET'S GO TO WAR. This whole mess in the Middle East could be ended in one afternoon. STOP sending our kids back home in a box... with these nonsensical squirms. STOP lending money to anyone until we get our own house in order. (Sorry, my friend, for the rant, BUT this whole mess makes me see BRIGHT RED.)  Semper Fi....

Frederick A Earle MD, PhD, Las Vegas.... (Retired, but not dead)

Fight to win or get the hell out.....The new PC Cheif of Staff needs to quit worrying about his rep with Zero and the dems and win..

WELL SAID, DOC!

Excellent Dr. Earle.........to resolve the problem in one afternoon would be simple: Remove the press and remove the politians from the Military Leadership/ Control. Our military leadership could handle the task in less than one afternoon.

Thank you for the excellent insight for which I am in total agreement and KEEP TEAM TEA PARTY MOVING FORWARD!  WeThePeople Continue the WAKE UP AMERICA CALL and the Patriots will take this country back, just like they did in prior history, but it won't be 342 cases of tea that get dumped this time. It will be a bit different for those who are attempting to destroy us from within!

Thank you Gunther!  As a retired member of the military, I know exactly what you mean.  It is vital that we keep moving as the Tea Party to flush our country of these political idiots.  Where I live the Tea Party has made good progress of replacing the liberal crap with conservatives.  The RINOs' are scared and rightfully so, they are soon to be dinosaurs, as in, extinct.

Well written Doc, it is past time for the sort of action you recommend, but not too late.  Zero is just that; the most allegedly educated moron to come out of the colleges since Walker.  I might have agreed with him about paying attention to the unemployed and destitute vets now on the streets, they do need help.  But as long as we have Obama to "support" there will be no jobs, nor economic recovery to help those vets.  Wonder if Walker understands what a volunteer force is all about .  Semper Fidelis

Frederick: Well said, well said.

Yes there are stupid people in the world.

Yes, Ron, I have been kicking myself, for not raising hell with Harry Reid, my, unfortunately, senator. Iam really tired of it all. So, I have raised hell with Senator Harry Reid, Senator Dean Heller, Representative Mark Amadori, and Shelley Berkley. Not one has answered me.

Debrajoe, they may not have replied but they're just a little bit more worried about keeping their job and that's where they need to be. So good for you!

You know what else? I read once that for every one who writes there are 6 more out there who feel the same way but don't write. So every letter or phone call counts for 7 - you and 6 others! Keep up the good work, Girlfriend!  :)

Debrajoe..........it's getting even worse, for us here in Nevada: The redistricting has given even more power to Clark County and it ain't for the Republicans! Let's make sure to dump all of our representatives come next election cycle.
