John Boehner math


 

 

Irony isn’t quite the word here.  On Tuesday, while John Boehner, the House leadership and the Party of Corruption were off cheering about cutting $6 billion from the budget, the national debt rose by $72 billion.

 

What do we call something like that?  Certainly not “winning!”

 

If this were any other business, other than the federal government, it would be belly up.  The cast of clowns in Washington, if they were the executive team would not only be out of a job, they might even be facing criminal investigation. 

 

But this is Washington.  The country sinks another $66 billion in debt; these guys pat themselves on the back and head off for another DC cocktail party. 

 

Something could have been salvaged from a bad week, except the GOP leadership decided they are not serious about the debt. They simply want business as usual.  The Bachman-King proposal that would have stripped $105 billion for Obamacare from the budget should have passed.  Defunding Planned Parenthood should have passed.  Serious budget reduction should have passed.

 

Unfortunately, there is a lack of serious leadership in the GOP.   

 

The real leaders in the GOP are people like Mike Pence, Steve King and Michelle Bachmann.  In the Senate, Jim DeMint, Rand Paul, Mike Lee and Marco Rubio.   Unfortunately, they are the minority.

 

Had the GOP been serious this week, we could have shaved $37 billion from the deficit.  Not great but it is better than going $66 billion in the other direction.

 

A wise man once told me, when you are in a hole, the first thing you do is stop digging. 

 

Unfortunately, wisdom is a commodity that is in very short supply in the nation’s capitol.

 

We in the Tea Party movement have patiently waited.  No more.   We have listened while the GOP, who we put in there, has suggested bite sized reductions in spending, that at the end of the day, have the effect of one step forward and two steps back. 

 

We in the Tea Party need to call for one simple thing.  We need $1.65 trillion in budget cuts.  That is the number it will take to balance the budget. 

 

The moderates and the liberals will have a fit over that.   They will say it cannot be done. 

 

Why not?

 

Let’s look at spending in the last two years.  What have we gotten for all of the spending that has taken place?  Where has that money gone?  We do not have new aircraft carriers to show for it.  We do not have a new interstate highway system, nor do we have anything to really show for it.  When Bush left office in 2009, people were not starving.  The world had not ended.  To start with, why can’t we go back to the 2008 budget?  Let’s start with those levels of spending.  That is an automatic $700 billion cut right there. Does anyone believe we cannot find another $800 billion in cuts just be eliminating wasteful programs in the government?  Defunding NPR and PBS will get us some more savings.  How about eliminating the $770 million to rebuild mosques from the State Department budget?

 

If we are serious, we can cut the spending quickly and get us to a balance budget.

 

The problem is, the GOP leadership in Washington is not serious.  Boehner has been on the job less than three months and it is painfully obvious he is not up to the job.  His sole qualification for the job is that was his turn. He has been there and worked his way up the GOP ladder.  Seniority is a tried and true GOP practice, regardless of qualifications or beliefs.   In The GOP, seniority rules with practices that would make any Union proud.

 

Despite our best hopes, it is obvious the leadership on both sides is not serious about cutting spending.  Obama is not because he wants to crash the American economy.  Reid is not, simply because he is an old fashioned corrupt Democrat.  I wish I knew why the GOP was so not interested.

 

Perhaps it is time for the people to go back to Washington to get our leaders’ attention.

Dear Speaker:

I wonder sometimes why we fight costs when we can start putting major dollars in each American's pocket!  A small grant would produce billions in savings and the technology is already being used by the little people.  What I am looking at would save the individual person major dollars and the Democrats have nothing to say about it.  It is possible of course for Obama to screw anything up but this project won't let Obama in.

I will apply for a grant if I can and then i will let the item out!!!!!!

i think a lot of the fire has died down from last Sept - Oct .  I think its time to dump some gas on the fire by millions of Americans getting back together in Washington and letting these educated idiots know that WE THE PEOPLE aren't going away and NOW is the time to get your act in order!

I think around Independence Day would be a good start.

Judson I have always agreed with you in the past,but I do disagree with you on one topic.Bush.The economy was very bad when he left office.Jobs were scarce then also.This is my personal opinion,but the way I see it a good part of all of these problems is Bush's fault.If he had not got us in such a bind in a war we did not need to be be part of then a lot of this might not have happened.Sudam did not attack us,al quada did.Bush was highly advised not to go in this war.He was fighting all on this when he made the public remark 'It is not the American people who decide if we go to war,it's the commander-in-chief'' .Well what about 'by the people,for the people,of the people'.Maybe he never heard of that like he said he did not know that Social Security was a gov. program on public television.He told everyone we were going into this war to disarm Sadam of weapons of mass destruction.To this day none have been found,but a lot of our military was severely injured or killed.At 5pm. the day we went in to Iraq,he changed his reason for war to 'we were going into free the Iraq people that they needed a new regime'.We needed the new regime.He knew that they might not find anything so he changed his slogan.If he felt he had done nothing wrong then why did he apologize to the American people for the mistakes he had made in office while leaving on his jet out of DC.Many people probably voted for Obama because they were scared of more Bush tactics.I voted for Cain but was very leary of him.That is how Obama got in.I do agree that at least he was not a muslim and gay,but his v.p.Cheney was enlisted with his daughter,on a gay movement promoting gay marriage.His daughter was publicised along with her parents about her articially inseminated child and her wife.Agree or not, the truth is the truth.Obama is a super huge problem that is destroying everything he can,but Bush was a long-term problem also.

Congress will never balance the budget or manage the federal debt. Congress is no longer an American congress; they are brought and paid for by vested interest groups. We the American people are the only ones that can solve our financial problems. There are two taxes we need, final consumption sales tax and tariffs. We have got to change our Constitution in a way that power is taken away from Government and makes the America people directly responsible.

1.Taxes must be taken off of everything except final consumption. When a family goes to the grocery store and buys $100 in groceries and the checker add $35.00 for federal tax, $10.00 for state tax $5.00 for local taxes and $40.00 to payoff the debt, the crap will come out of the heads of the America people about the cost of Government. Also, no person or item is exempted, everyone pays. Americans will be ready to fight back with gusto!!!!

2.Take away the power of Congress to pass legislation. All legislation (bills) must come before the people to be approved or disapproved. We have the communications capacity via the internet, etc. to do this. Furthermore, all bills must be broken down by item and a cost must be accessed to each item. We need line item voting power.

3.Any person or group, who can obtain 3% of the registered voter’s signatures, can design and/or present a bill (legislation) to congress. . Congress must debate, approve or disapprove legislation; however, again the people must approve or disapprove the legislation.

4.We need an accounting system that is as accurate as possible, so Americans know where their tax money is going and can make decisions.

Changing our Constitution is the only way we are going to handle our Federal finances.

By believing that old GOP-DFL configuration is sustainable, we are just fooling ourselves.  Oh yes, coincidentally your children too. 

Was it not a case years ago that there were no expensive and highly counter-productive "career-politicians", serving primarily the "highest bidder" (NO, THIS WAS NOT YOU and ME)?

People would do their "representing" and go home, back to their real jobs.

How did we ever settle for this?  Any drunkard can do this job, as lately there has been definitely no responsibility attached.  What else can these people do outside of talking?

Why would someone (hateful bastard) say: talk is cheap?  How did we ever get someone as clueless as Pelosi

or as purely evil as Reid in?

 

Let's go back to the drawing board.  Let's try retired and wounded military, your local charity volunteers.  Someone who proved they care and are willing too give, not just take...

No, as soundly demonstrated so far, it takes no special skills to be a politician.  Just some very basic loyalty to your country for what she has been all these years among all the other nations.

        Are we paying the due attention yet?

Chris, I could not have said it better myself, and am in total agreement with you on this.  But I am afraid that it would seem that unless and individual is either a career politician, financial/corporate mogul or has Hollywood "Star" power, that they are considered "unelectable" due to "inexperience".  And I might add are considered a "Nobody."  Now, Chris, would you yourself really support someone that was not either a Professional Career Politician or had "Star" power??????

i would support them in a heart beat. the people you discribed are the lying, theving, self serveing creeps that put us in this mess. we could send a skunk to washington and it could not possibly do any worse. in fact its the inexperience, i want ,to throw a monkey wrench into there crap. its the experienced liers that cause the most problems. all you need is some one with ethics, principles, integerty and morals. and want give an inch to the crooks. i here the term unelectable, as far as i am concerned that is bull. obama got elected, he should have fit the term unelectable.

I think Boehner needs a much bigger gavel, and someone to help him lift it.  The Libya "one world" war spearheaded by other countries and our own President again making Congress irrelevant, should have every single one of they on their feet.  We have entered a war and we don't know our mission-AGAIN!  How different would things be, if Michele Bachmann was speaker?
