As most of the Republicans turn tail or go RINO in this lame duck session, there is one Republican who deserves our praise and our support:  Jim  DeMint.

DeMint’s latest action is, he has demanded the Start Treaty and the Omnibus Spending bill be read aloud in the Senate prior to cloture.   These actions will take hours.  The spending bill will take approximately fifty hours alone to read.

The lame duck Senate only has so many hours left to work.    Although Dingy Harry Reid is enough of a Scrooge to try and make the Senate work on Christmas to get more time, he would probably face a revolt, even from his people.

The Republicans have been terrible in this lame duck congress.  Despite “getting the message”, they have been the vanguard of business as usual.  Republican Senators and Congressmen have been filling the spending bill with pork.  They have been selling out the voters left and right.

And then there is DeMint.  He seems to be one of only a couple of Republicans who get it.   Mitch McConnell does not get it.   He still thinks earmarks are okay.   He still thinks being the party of Democrat-lite is okay.

DeMint is the one who is standing up saying no.  He is the one who is taking the flak from the left because he is actually obstructing their plans.

Jim DeMint is rumored to be thinking about running for President in 2012.   He just shot up in consideration for being President. Unlike so many, he is actually doing something.  In fairness to other potential candidates who are not currently in office, they cannot step up as he has.  That said, his actions show courage, principle and backbone.  That is something that is sorely lacking in most Republicans on Capitol Hill.

The Obama/Pelosi/Reid axis of fiscal evil has not given up.  We cannot give up either.  Call your Senators and Congressmen again today.  Tell your Senators to reject the START treaty.   Tell your congressmen to reject the Bush tax cut bill from the Senate (the tax cuts can be made retroactive in January).  Tell your Senators to reject the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and tell both your Senators  and Congressmen to reject the Omnibus-spending bill!

The Capitol Hill Switchboard is (202) 224-3121.  Call, fax, email and tweet today.

Oh yes, and while you are calling, if you have a couple of extra minutes, call Senator DeMint’s office and thank him for being a patriot.

These, what was it that Jerry Brown's campaign said about Meg Whitman?, are scurrying like someone just turned on the lights. I guess cockroach's is a better term.

Bravo for Senator DeMint. The pressure must be extreme. He needs to speak the truth. The rhetoric coming from the left will be atrocious. Of course it will be all lies and spin so he needs to stay out in front  with the truth.

Let's hear it for Mike Pence and Michelle Backmann as well.

Jim Demint did not back down.  He was on Fox News last night and said he would continue to call for a reading today after Harry Reid postponed the vote until today.  Michelle Bachmann and Mike Pence have also spoken up against the Omnibus bill and will not support it, so let us applaud them as well.  Jim Demint, Michelle Bachmann, Mike Pence----Thumbs up!!

I think we have a monumental task ahead of us at TPN, to really vet the candidates we support for 2012. The biggest disappointment, whom we supported, was Scott Brown. He's a RINO from the socialist state of MA. We need support for Mike Pence and Jim DeMint. They need more like-minded congressmen and senators to join them. They can't do it alone.

I pray we backed strong candidates in this cycle, only time will tell. Even the "young guns" are caving on certain issues. Can we count on anyone on the hill, anymore?

Kudos to DeMint and Pence. Keep up the good work! Let's vet all candidates we want to support, thoroughly. We need to be on the offensive not the defensive.

Let the government shut down. I'm tired of being pushed into a corner!

It is a repeat of one year ago.

I think what we need to find out is, what is it that corrupts them once they get in office and tackle that aspect of this.

It is apparent we need to find new ways to fight this to take America back.

If it is the money then we should find a way to take that out of congress. We will need some in congress with a set on them to get this done.

I agree that the ones to help are Colburn, Bachmann, Pence, Demint, to get America back on track.

Perhaps we need to visit each and every office (Den & Republican) and hand each of them a copy of the Constitution and ask if they will abide by it. Then do research and make the list of the ones that talk out their a*sses.

I've been calling my representatives this morning, and obviously a lot of others are too, since the phone rings for what seems forever before someone answers at the switchboard. And then I don't get a human voice but a recording to leave a message. Believe me I left a detailed message of what I expect. I heard a republican from Texas defend earmarks saying they only amount to 1/2 of 1% of the budget.  Well guess what, you have to start somewhere. Politcians have an excuse for everything

And I saw there was $2.4M to research security on the border. Now is that stupid? Every half-wit knows what needs done. Troops on the border and deport illegals..........and no amnesty.......we can't afford it.

Why only focus on one individual?  There are several Senators and Congressmen who are fighting the "good fight."  Is this a political ploy by some in the Tea Party?  Let focus on all at this time in order to select the future leaders that Americans who love their country and want to support the principles of America and its Constitution from now on.  Lets watch them all and select the very best!  Lets thank all those who support these principles!!!!!

If you would like to see Sen. DeMint in the White House, please consider joining the Draft Jim DeMint movement.  We have Coordinators in 30 states and are growing quickly.  We need more County Coordinators in all states and are looking for principled and enthusiastic conservatives to fill these positions.

You've got it right!   Jim DeMint is an American Hero!

This is in response to Ron Sorrells comment re taking the money away and placing them on the 50 States' payroll. RIGHT ON!.  We need to repeal the outdated, confusing and illegal tax code that has been authored by frauds in power.  If we take the money out of their hands, we also take their power.

Responding to Wayne Thomas Inman...I talked to Jim DeMint's office this AM and was told that he is going to read the bill in its entirety.  All of us should push having someone read this bill in its entirety.  This administration is treacherous and their insanity needs to be stopped.
