Why isn’t Sarah Palin being invited to speak at the Republican National Convention?

There are a couple of reasons.  They are both bad.

What are they and why should she have a prime time speaking slot at the convention?

The first reason Sarah Palin is being excluded is simple payback.  Anyone remember the day Mitt Romney officially kicked off his presidential campaign in New Hampshire?   Do you remember what else was going on that day?

Sarah Palin rolled through New Hampshire on her bus tour.  It rained on Romney’s parade.  Whether she did it on purpose or it was just one of those things that happened is subject to debate.  The people who know aren’t talking and it is in the past so there is no reason to talk about it now.

While payback is certain a major consideration, there is another reason why the Romney campaign does not want Sarah Palin at the convention.

What ever else you want to say about her, no one denies she is an electrifying speaker.  She lights up an audience.  She did it in 2008.  She overshadowed John McCain with her speech and if she is given the prime time speech she deserves in Tampa, she will blow Romney away.

Romney and his people do not want someone overshadowing the nominee.  It is a good point.  However, the fact that Romney is not a charismatic speaker is his problem.

Denying Sarah Palin a speaking role at the convention creates another problem.

No other major figure has been as associated with the Tea Party movement in the last three years than Sarah Palin.  From her first speech at the National Tea Party Convention in 2010 to her speeches at CPAC and at the Tea Party Express rallies, she is identified with the Tea Party movement.

The Tea Party movement is something Romney does not want to deal with.  He ran his campaign specifically ignoring the Tea Party.  He has given no nod to the Tea Party.  His team has not reached out to any of the major Tea Party groups.

Someone needs to remember where we were four years ago.  Four years ago, the Republican Party was on the endangered species list.  It had been killed in the 2006 elections and was about to be destroyed in the 2008 elections.

Who was the person who lit up the Republican Presidential campaign in 2008?

What group has revitalized the Republican Party?  Here’s a hint, it was not the Romney campaign.

There are only a few prime time slots available at the Republican Convention.  The Republicans need to show some gratitude to the Tea Party movement for saving it.  There are a lot of ways they can show some appreciation.

One of them is to give Sarah Palin a prime time speaking slot.

This is exactly what I thought when I saw that she was not yet invited. Well written.

I agree, my sentiments also  I was getting ready to donate $50 to Romneys campaign but I think that I'll hold off for awhile to see how this plays out.

Sarah Palin was not invited because the Tea Party is a JOKE to Mitt Romney.  Romney may just lose my vote over this.

We've got to stick with Romney, Steve.  He's our ticket out of Obama...not that he's in any way a complete solution.  Romney's election buys us time to organize and replace the Democrat enablers in the Republican Party with conservatives -- or to bypass that party entirely and create our own.  We very much need for Romney to win. Gingrich, Bachmann or Cain could also win, but I doubt that they've got a chance at the convention.

If Obama wins, with his record of dictatorial action, serious consequences could well ensue.

I agree 100%, Jeff. We need to create that new party of true conservatives in order to save the country. Call it whatever, but we must do this and we will have just over 4 years to prepare for the 2016 election.

Call me extreme if you like, I have been saying and still believe that it is actually in out best interest IN THE LONG RUN not to vote for Romney if he becomes the nominee. We write in Sarah Palin.

Romney is not a conservative and we can never trust him to become a conservative, not with Supreme Court nominations being on the table for the next President.

What our two goals should be is 1) send a message to the Republican Elites that they will never win another election without returning to Constitutional and Christian Conservative Values, and 2) ensuring that we take control of the Senate and maintian control of Congress. With these two Houses in our pocket we can then impeach Obama and remove all his minions on our way to taking back America from these "Want-a-be-Dictators".

If Romney wins, there are those who say we can hold his feet to the fire. I say, "What fire?" Logic makes clear that if we can't get Romney to acknowledge us now or even to acknowledge Sarah Palin then what on God's Green Earth makes anyone believe that Romney is going to acknowledge any us if he is President???????

No, Ladies and Gentlemen, we must fight to make sure that Romney does not become the nominee at the RNC Convention. We must do this by ensuring a brokered convention. RNC Rules 38 and 40b allows us to nominate someone else. That someone else needs to be Sarah Palin.

David, I feel the same way.  I just posted a comment to that effect, but yours is extremely well argued.  I too believe that it is NOT in Conservatism's best interests to vote for Romney.  I won't call you extreme at all.  I think you are right on the mark.

Thank you again. You may wish to check out my recent reply to Debrajoe a few minutes ago. Thanks again and have a blessed day.

Jeff,

I understand your point, but there is another side to this story.

Apparently, four years of Obama was not enough to wake up the American people.  Right now we are looking at the permanent destruction of America.  We are descending into democratic Socialism and BOTH parties are at fault.  Romney is Obama Lite.  Obama is openly Socialist.  The GOP doesn't care what happens to the USA as long as they stay in power.  They are willing to continue the entitlements that are bankrupting our nation both morally and financially.

If we cannot get rid of the GOP, I fear that this once great nation is going to collapse and become another worthless country, just like every single socialist nation in Europe.

The cowards who seek and accept their government checks every month are utterly worthless and will NEVER contribute to the future of America.  If we do not CUT THEM OFF soon, it is all over because they will outnumber us.

We need REAL and DRAMATIC change, not another wimp GOP Socialist Lite.

JEFF...YOU MAKE AN INSANE, UNINFORMED COMMENT HERE...You have allowed the MSM to warp your mind...Incase you missed it: BIG News: NOT A SINGLE GOP SENATOR VOTED FORTHE FINAL HEALTHCARE BILL [Obamacare]....Not even a RINO...!!!

Sir, IT IS THE DEMONCRAT PARTY THAT VOTED IN OBAMA-SCARE with Federally-funded Abortions and "Death Panels" [Sarah is always RIGHT..!!] while the Democrats controlled the house & Senate & the Presidency America had a Democrat-Dictatorship... as a result...every man, woman & child lost their Right to Life as guaranteed by our Bill of Rights & the Constitution and it will be so until the Law is repealed...Something the Democrats will never DO...They are the ones out to destroy our Country..!!!

The REPUBLICANS ARE THE ONLY ONES IN A POSITION of power TO SAVE THE COUNTRY BY REPEALING THIS COMMUNIST/SOCIALIST/Tyrannical Healthcare Bill..!!! The Republicans need a lot of help from the Tea Party such as happened in Wisconsin and Indiana where the tea party candidate Unseated the RINO incumbent Senator Richard Lugar...It is happening in other States as well....

Therefore, JEFF Stop complaining and get busy and help the Tea Party Patriots, the Tea Party Express or the Tea Party Nation to get rid of the RINOs AND THE DEMOCRATS in order to save the Country from government Dictatorship.

P.S.: ALL YOU RIGHT-WING FANATICS....GOOGLE THE Republican & Democrat Party Platforms written by thousands of the party faithful all over the Country (every State, County, Congressional District & Legislative District, right down to the Precinct level, meeting in homes...Grassroots People who think likeTea Party Folks {at least the Republicans) most of them think like Tea Partiers...Check 'em out...Then you tell us where the Republicans differ from the Tea Party...Then get busy & support the Party closest to what you Believe...!!!

And Pray for God to Bless America, the Republican Party [GOP] and all the Tea Partiers...then we will have a Great country...!!!

Whatever you do, always...VOTE REPUBLICAN...!!!

I disagree, Jeff.  I am starting to believe that I will not vote for Romney.  Yes, voting for Romney would damage Obama.  BUT voting for Romney will, in my opinion at least, also severely damage the growth of Conservatism in the Republican party and in America.

I will vote for Conservatism and for a true Conservative.  And I'm actually feeling very good, and very right, in that decision.  I may still change my mind, but the more I see of Mitt, the more I suspect I won't.

Thank you Frank. Every year someone is asking for us to violate our Constitutional convictions and Christian morals. Why? It is because they are as currupt as the ones they are trying to get us to vote for. This is wrong. Things will not get better until we stand our ground and make things better ourselves.

Frank and anyone else looking for a much better choice for President, please check out http://www.palinquakes.com/palin_vs_obama_a_stark_contrast. Think you will like what you see. This organization and others are working hard to give us a Constitutional and Christian Conservative who really is a Constitutional and Christian Conservative with the personal and professional record to prove it.
