We really need to move the Statue of Liberty out of New York City. It is time for the symbol of freedom to be moved to a more appropriate place. It is time to figure out how to get it out of New York and moved some place else.
Because freedom is pretty much dead in New York City.
King Michael the First has decided that New Yorkers are too fat. So he is going to ban large sugary drinks.
New York City is pretty much a disaster and this is what he is worried about?
Let’s ignore the epic fail of liberalism in the Big Apple for a moment and just stick with the basics. The basics here are freedom!
If I want to drink sugary drinks, knowing what the consequences are, that is my decision. If I want to be fat, that is my decision. If I want to do the work it takes to be thin and in shape, again that is my decision. I do not need the nanny state or King Michael telling me what to do.
King Michael and the nanny state socialists are doing this because it is for our own good. Aren’t those the words tyrants use every time? We are taking your liberty and your freedom because it is for your own good.
At a press conference, King Michael’s words could have been taken from any number of tyrants of the past. He said, “I think that’s what the public wants the mayor to do.”
I suspect most New Yorkers if asked want a lot of things and banning soft drinks isn’t on the list.
I bet if King Michael asked, I bet the average New Yorker would tell King Michael he wants his taxes reduced.
I bet if King Michael asked, most New Yorkers would like to have something done about the out of control crime. I bet a fair number of them would like King Michael to quit making war on their second amendment rights.
I bet there are a whole lot of things New Yorkers would rather King Michael be doing other than telling New Yorkers what they can or cannot drink.
While sugary drinks are a small issue, remember the people such as King Michael who are pushing this are the same people that also want to repeal parts of the Constitution as well. If King Michael had his way, none of us would be allowed to own firearms to defend ourselves. Ask Britain how well that has worked out for them. If King Michael had his way, there would be prohibitions on hate speech. Of course for the left, hate speech is defined as anything a conservative says.
Liberty continues to be eroded in this nation and unfortunately too many people sit on the sidelines and watch it sail away. Back when many of us were children, this was a free nation. Some parts of it still are. Unfortunately, New York City is no longer a part of the land of the free.
It’s time to find a new home for the Statute of Liberty. Freedom is dying rapidly in New York City.
Why don't we start a movement to separate all of New England and California from the USA? Once that's successful, we can revoke the citizenship of all New Englanders and Californians, round them up as illegal aliens, and deport them back to their (new) home country. Once they have resided legally in their own country for 5 years with no criminal behavior, they can apply for citizenship in the United States.
Great idea, huh? :-)
Sign me up, Robert! It's been so long since capitalism and our Constitution were allowed to operate as they are supposed to people have lost sight of the miracles (happiness, prosperity) tht are wrought thereby. Your plan would provide a working model for all to behold ... again!
Michael, I meant it good humor. My family hailed from New England until the early part of the 20th century.
What a stupid idea by this far left atheist socialist. What business is it of government how people drink their soda? Even if this law was passed how can government stop people from drinking soda. If a person like an athlete, construction, or outdoor worker is thirsty and goes to 711 for a 32 oz soda and none is available, he will just buy two 16oz sodas. This will create more garbage in the way of plastic cups required. This Bloomberg character is one of the most ignorant mayors in the USA.
Government should mind its business and concentrate on the job that it was put there to do; cleaning the streets, securing our borders, protecting our citizens against crime and enforcing the provisions of the Bill or Rights and the US Constitution.
To Roc20, you are wrong. There have been over 1 million moving from NY because of high taxes and in New York the reprssive government. Check your facts.
Have it your way. I'm not talking about NT state, I'm talking about NYC. I didn't say people don't move out, I said the population fluctuates but hovers around 8 million. People move out, people move in. Unfortunately producers tend to move out (I'm one of them) non producers tend to move in. That's why taxes rise.
Apparently, it needs to be moved to the middle of the Rio Grande. ;-}
More and more "Producers" have moved out of NYC. Producers pay taxes. An excellent example of a "Producer" moving out of NYC is Rush.
JUDSON I agree. The mayor's order, banning large drinking cups for soda should initiate a new era of "prohibition" in New York City. Pretty soon, bootleggers will be selling the cups furtively from trucks marked Good Humor. Fashionable young people will be drinking bathtub soda, sweetened with real sugar, driving the diet soda people right out of business. A new legion of untouchables will be raiding after-school sweet-easies ... being run in the back rooms of Dunkin Donuts. And the federal lawmen will be investigating politicians said to be taking graft from teenage kid gangs selling sugar cookies in the outer boroughs. This will go on until some woman's temperance group pushes for the passage of constitutional amendment 21.5, and we can all go back to being as fat as we please.
Best always, John
Well spoken, Judson. I am sick and tired of these busy bodies up in our business. LEAVE US ALONE!!!!
