Rick Santorum dropped out of the Presidential race today.  His campaign story could only be described as being unlikely at best, having been at the end of the pack for most of the run up to Iowa.

His exit effectively makes Romney the nominee.  My Newt friends have been blowing out my email box in the last couple of hours saying Newt still has a chance.

I wish that Newt did still have a chance.  He does not and honestly I expect in the not too distant future we will see Newt suspend his campaign as well.  Newt simply does not have the resources to compete with Romney.

But the question becomes do we conservatives get behind Romney?

No, we do not get behind Romney.

We get behind an idea.

Freedom and liberty are ideas.  They inspire men to do great things.  They inspire men and women to make great sacrifices to obtain their God-given, inalienable rights.

We conservatives have been looking for our next Ronald Reagan. However, Ronald Reagan did not launch the conservative revolution.  His ideas launched the Reagan revolution.   The Tea Party movement began in 2009 without a leader.  The Tea Party movement began from a common idea.

Our idea is better than the ideas of the left.  Our ideas of conservatism and small government are better than the left’s ideas of statism and socialism.

None of those ideas belong to a single individual.   None of our candidates this time around was named conservative.  They were named Gingrich, Cain, Perry and Bachmann.

Conservatism and liberty cannot be stopped.

Just because none of the conservative candidates won, we have not lost.

We need an idea to advance the cause of liberty and to attack the bastions of big government.

9-9-9 is such an idea.

Our tax and spending policies are a disaster.  They are broken.  Big taxation and big government only work for those who are getting the benefits of big government.  For the rest of us, for real Americans, they do not work.

9-9-9 is not a perfect plan.

Guess what?   Our standard is not perfection.  Anything that helps us advance the cause of shrinking a massively bloated and corrupt Federal Government is a good thing.

We the people led the GOP to victory in 2010.  We can lead again.

It is not the candidate that matters.  It is the idea of conservatism.

Tea Party activists are going to Washington this Monday and Tuesday because our ideas are important.  We know ideas will lead.

There is an old bumper sticker that says, “If the people will lead, the leaders will follow.”

Forget Romney.  He is not important.  Our ideas are.   We must get behind our ideas and push forward.  Romney will get behind us.

Let’s lead with the ideas of freedom and liberty that made America great.

Why not get behind Newt? He already has great ideas?

He can not win numerically. It is that simple.

And Romney cannot win in November

Never said he can. I did say, I'll hold my nose and pull the lever like I did my entire life.

Sorry, brad, but you have no idea what might happen in November. For all any of us know, Odumbo could be impeached or proven to be ineligible by then. He could keel over like Breitbart did. Whatever the case may be in November, I say...

ABO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He has been proven ineligible with his admission his father was not a US citizen at the time of his birth. We need to push the issue.

I think Romney can win in November if the people who don't want to see Obama back in fight to keep it from happening. That means, voicing our opinions in letters to local newspaper editors, talking to family and friends, volunteering, having more tea party events and not taking a defeated mindset.

Agree he was better than Santorum anyway

Is there enough time? The Newtster has a little Kucinich/Paul in him. You know a little out there with comments. Some are great ideas but he needs to frame them as in a future goal for mankind and to build the foundation for that future. Where did he want to build a 7-11 was it the moon or mars?

Lori, you cannot read can you?  You simply want to jump to a conclusion not supported by any facts.  I have not endorsed Romney nor will I.  I will vote for him because he is not Obama.

Well said.

Agreed. Personally, I wish posters on this site actually read what they were posting to, instead of making themselves look foolish by first not reading or understanding what was said in the first place. You read something that Judson posts, and have questions? Well, ASK, dammit! THINK about what's written, and what your response should be. It's retarded to just dash off replies to posts that you haven't bothered to thoroughly consider beforehand; it's a waste of everybody's time.

READ AND THINK BEFORE YOU POST!
