Politics has often been described as the silly season.  Nothing could be sillier that the recent words of Michael Steele.    In a press conference on Friday, he claimed he was responsible for the Republican resurgence.

I’m not sure which qualifies as the most moronic statement of the week; Pelosi’s claim Democrats would retain the majority or Steele’s claim of credit for the victories this week.

Earth to Michael Steele.   What have you been smoking or has Washington done to you what it does to so many others, namely turn your brain to mush.

Steele made these comments; only hours after having acknowledged the Tea Party had put the Republicans “on probation.”

Let’s see, Michael.  Politics has been transformed in the last two years.   Was it you or was it the Tea Party movement?   How many Michael Steele rallies have there been over the last two years?  How many candidates were “Michael Steele” candidates announced for office?  How many Michael Steele conventions were there in the past year?  How many Michael Steele websites are there?  How many Michael Steele PACs are there?

As Chairman of the RNC, you have spent money like a drunken Democrat.  You have used your position to fly all over the place to promote yourself and receive speaking fees of up to $20,000 an appearance.   That is something no other RNC chairman has ever done.  Perhaps if you had spent more time on your job, Harry Reid might be unemployed today.

Steele certainly does not share the Tea Party fiscal philosophy.  When he took over, in 2009, the RNC had a $23 million dollar surplus.    Now, they only have $3.4 million in the bank and debt of almost $6 million.   Four years ago, the Republican Congressional Committee and the Republican Senate Committee received $40 million from the RNC.  This year, they only received $4 million from the RNC.   Had Michael Steele been doing his job, we might be looking at a Senator Angle, Senator O’Donnell, a Senator Miller and perhaps a Senator McMahon.   We might be looking at a seventy-five seat gain against the party of Socialism.

Michael Steele thinks he is responsible for what just happened last Tuesday?   Michael Steele is delusional.   Michael Steele needs to go and someone from the Tea Party needs to take his place.

Who is going to step up?

Think you are correct, Debrajoe. Palin is best suited. Bar none!
"......qualities like Sarah Palin. Motivation, cheerful, energy. "

Those are the qualities which make her a magnet for people who want to get somethng done, and also for people who want to give big money.

Those were Steele's tasks, and he did neither very well.
I would vote for that.
OK ladies and gents, the RNC is taking the victory that we handed them, spitting in our faces and kicking us to the curb. I believe they've just declared political war. Let's start RIGHT NOW working to bring down every RINO up for re-election in '12. Let's start a nationwide viral campaign, NO DONATIONS TO THE RNC. Let's get thousands of people supporting Bachmann and DeMint with calls and faxes to our Reps putting pressure on them to back The Conservative Caucus that Michelle is starting. This is all off the top of my head. Any other ideas out there. We've rested up from the midterm. The other sides are back in the trenches, we'd better be too.
The good ole boy club on both sides are corrupt and need to be replaced. Tea party candidates should be in charge of all commitee seats. Bachman and Demint are my top picks. Tea Party should become its own entity in 2012
I agree with Robert Inabinette - we need to replace the whole bunch, including state leaders, with "real" conservatives.
Remember who put steele in charge, the good ole boys,he is following orders.
Steele is SO DISJOINTED, a paraplegic on qualuds. But truthfully...read "Michael Steele Is Looked Down Upon By An Angel Of The Renaissance" to get the full-indigestion effect of that column from Sept. 30, 2010 in the "archives" of Project Shining City - Front Page. It will rock you, as Jeff Bruzzo's composite picture of Steele and an Angel by Carravaggio, is worth a luch at Elaine's in NYC.
Please, all TEA PARTY folks; get in and keep on getting in. The Republican party may want to think they are what that party was ; years ago. Not now, keep the TEA PARTY alive. Maybe be the new Patriot Party. What ever. Knowing the politicians of the pass, the ones we put in office MAY BECOME just friends of the other party to fill their pockets.
Please fight this

A A Duke
True, Arthur.
The Republicrats seem not to be cooperating. We can't continue this way for long, or a third party will be necessary! The trouble is, if we split the vote Obama wins. Worst of all worlds!

Simply put, we must return the GOP to it's founding principles. No other choice is viable!
We have to stay on top of the Republicans and ride them like a horse every inch of the way. The careerists and RINOS can't be trusted on their own. They have to accept the fact that they are going represent US, not the other way around. Not anymore. WE are going to be calling the shots now...and we hold their future in OUR hands.
Please, lets not take words out of context. He did state that TEA PARTY was a major factor and will be around for a long time.
