Juana Villegas lives in Nashville, TN. She is an illegal alien and is now a poster child for everything that is wrong with illegal immigration in this country.
Her story has been blared all over the news in Nashville. It literally is the story of what is wrong with the system and how liberals enable illegal immigration.
On July 3, 2008, the Berry Hill city police stopped Villegas. Berry Hill is a small community within Nashville. She was arrested and charged with careless driving, no driver’s license and driving without insurance. Upon her arrival at the jail, she was processed through the 287(G) system the Davidson County Sheriff has so that all foreign born prisoners are checked for their immigration status. When Villegas was stopped, surprise, she was found to be in this country illegally.
While those things happen everyday, what makes this story so unique is that she was nine months pregnant. While being held for immigration authorities, her water broke, she went into labor and was transported to the hospital, where she gave birth to yet another anchor baby.
While in labor, Villegas was shackled to the bed. Once she had delivered and was medically cleared, she was sent back to the jail. The baby was released to relatives.
Liberals were outraged! Oh the horror, that a criminal was actually treated like a criminal. A liberal, open borders lawyer jumped into the case and in the face of a media storm, the driving charges against Villegas were dismissed. She was released from jail pending immigration action. She has lost her request to stay in this country and is now pending deportation. This is not her first rodeo. She was arrested and deported back to Mexico in 1996. As the newspaper blandly put it, she quickly returned to Nashville after that deportation.
Now, with the same liberal, open borders lawyer, she has sued Davidson County and the sheriff. Yesterday, a Clinton appointed Federal Judge ruled in her favor on the lawsuit, which claimed her civil rights were violated. A hearing will be scheduled to determine damages at a later date. Meanwhile, Villegas is appealing the order that she be deported again.
In the newspaper report by the Tennessean, they site unnamed “immigration advocates” who said the case signified a “bias against immigrants” and the arrest may have been the result of “racial profiling.”
When are we going to stand up and stop this lunacy?
This woman is an illegal alien. She was previously deported, ignored our laws a second time and came back. Illegal reentry into the United States after being deported is a Federal crime. Why isn’t she being prosecuted for this? She is now going to be the winner of jackpot justice. Her lawyer is also going to be a winner, since civil rights litigation provides for attorney fees for a prevailing plaintiff.
Villegas meanwhile stays in this country. If you look at the video on the page of the Tennessean’s website, you will see that Villegas is driving a late model vehicle. As an illegal is she paying taxes? As an illegal she cannot get welfare, but her children, as those born in America can. Are they drawing welfare? What other benefits are they drawing? And why is she still in this country? She was arrested for being illegal almost 2 years ago. This is after she had been deported sixteen years ago. The Obama regime has all but stopped immigration enforcement. This is one of the biggest reasons we must replace the Obama regime with an administration that will enforce this country’s laws including immigration.
Hopefully, we will still have a country left for us to be able to do this.
