Only hours after not very bright Actor Morgan Freeman claimed that the only reason Republicans and Tea Partiers were after Obama only because they are racist, something interesting happened..

Well, look what happens today.  Herman Cain wins the Florida straw poll.

From USA Today:

Businessman Herman Cain scored a major upset Saturday, winning the Florida straw poll and creating a new set of problems for Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

The final tally: Cain carried 37% of the vote, Perry 15% and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney 14%. Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum was at 11%, Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 10% and former House speaker Newt Gingrich at 9%. Trailing far behind were former Utah governor Jon Huntsman and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, at 2%.

The straw poll in Orlando was non-binding and voting was limited to about 3,500 delegates who had paid $175 each to attend Presidency 5, hosted by the Florida GOP. But Perry's failure to win on the heels of a shaky performance in Thursday's debate will underscore concerns by some of his supporters about whether he can maintain and build on his quick rise in the polls.

Cain was one of just three contenders who showed up to speak at the Saturday convention. He got a particularly enthusiastic reception, disputing the "rumor" that he couldn't win the election and saying it was time to send "a problem-solver" rather than a politician to the White House. "Send Washington a message!" he said, bringing the crowd to its feet.

It is hard to say whether Cain’s win or Perry’s loss was the bigger story.  Cain has constantly pushed his Tea Party connections and worked the Tea Party to energize his base.  The only bad thing about Cain is his terrible 9-9-9 plan.

For Perry, who worked hard to come up with a win in Florida, this is a disaster.  Perry not only had a terrible debate, but his Achilles heel became very visible.

Conservatives do not like his stand on immigration.  Perry burst on to the scene with fanfare and a lot of interest from conservatives.  Now that conservatives are looking at Perry, a lot of conservatives are having second thoughts.

From Mediate:

Over on Fox News, Carl Cameron declared the results a “clear message” for Perry that his debate performance did not go over so well, and that his supporters were willing to default to Cain and not Romney. For Cain himself, Cameron argued, it was a “huge, huge win” in terms of fundraising and name recognition. The news is also tremendously upsetting for the winner of the Iowa straw poll, Rep. Bachmann, given that she came in behind Huntsman.

For a full appreciation of the results, however, one must take into account that Romney, Bachmann, and New Mexico governor Gary Johnson were not on the ballot, and that Huntsman, Perry, and Paul were not at the event to campaign whatsoever.

There is one clear message from the straw poll.  This is not a two-man race and the man or woman who wins the nomination is probably not the leader today.

Read it and weep, morgan.
Ya, I have to agree with you Jason.  Cain's a true conservative, and a true Tea Party member, has been from the beginning.  He's real, and doesn't just say what he thinks everyone wants to hear, which is clearly Romney and I've suspected about Perry from his entrance.
I like Cain but his 9-9-9 plan is horribly flawed.  As much as I like him, if that is the plan he is pushing, I can't support him.
I agree, I like the man but  am still leaning toward Bachman at this point. The American voter has become quite a bit wiser and hopefully more armored toward the "Flash-Bangers" out there now. Now if the Dems would just primary Obama... But then this is another kettle of fish.

New RASS poll out today.... Bachhmann down by double figures again Obama..

She'll never carry the ball across the finish line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Sir, Mr. Walker!
To primary Obama would be a catastrophe for America!

The obvious primary challenger is:

and as radical as she is, she will be a far more formidable

opponent  against the Tea Party than:

Please, no DemonRat Primary!

mr zion,

you are very correct in that hillary will be a more formidable opponent than barry.

however, i don't believe she'll primary against the big "O".  that would be too divisive to "the base"  and would tip the progressives' hand.

bho will bow out before the democratic convention - siting republican "political distractions" with the fast & furious investigations that should be in the hands of an independent prosecutor and getting quite juicy right about convention time.

then no time left for republicans to back-track their 12 month campaigns against obama and shift gears to deal with the horse-face challenger.  barry will get his clinton pardon - sealing obamacare & his two radical scouts appointments.

love your pics, enjoy your posts..... keep shouting the warning.

You say it is horribly flawed.  Justify your statement.  From what I heard it would be a whole lot better than what we have now.  At least EVERYONE would be taxed at a fair rate and we would not have people receiving over $5,000 dollar tax returns that didn't pay a dime.  I paid in over $11,000 last year and were it not for my wife having a bad year in her business we might have got $2,000 back if that.
I like 9-9-9, too. :)  I do believe that's why he won.But I do feel bad for all the accountants we won't have to hire to do our taxes.......NOT!!!
9-9-9 creates a new tax......a national sales tax.....once a tax is created, it never goes away and it always goes up
Creates a new tax, but gets rid of the IRS, and simplifies things. I think it's a win-win thing.....also when tourists come to visit, from China, they'll be paying a bigger part of our taxes. Gotta Love that.

Won't happen Tom, we'll just get stuck with a new tax!
