Want to make a liberal start foaming at the mouth? Start mentioning the Supreme Court’s Citizens United case. Liberals freak out. According to them, Citizens United was the end of the world, as we know it. Even a few conservatives get into the act panning the Citizens United decision.
Why would conservatives bash one of the greatest decisions of the Supreme Court?
When people talk about the Citizens United decision the thing we hear most is this decision created Super-Pacs and lets Corporations spend money on campaigns.
Liberals do not care about the facts of the case. They just know they can use it to create laws that handicap conservatives and aid liberals.
The Citizens United case arose from the 2002 Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act. It was better known as McCain-Feingold. Among other things, McCain-Feingold prohibited broadcast, cable or satellite communications that mentioned a candidate within 60 days of a primary or 30 days of a general election and it prohibited corporations and unions from making expenditures for a campaign. This included non-profit corporations.
Yes, John McCain and Russ Feingold are both morons. They have never read the Constitution and do not understand there is a First Amendment. The truth of the matter is their bill was nothing more than a bill to make it easier for incumbents to be reelected.
Enter David Bossie and Citizens United, which is a non-profit organization. Citizens United in 2008 created a video called Hillary: The Movie. The movie was to be aired on DirecTV. They filed suit to block McCain-Feingold.
The case wound its way to the Supreme Court.
In arguments before the Supreme Court in 2009, the Deputy Solicitor General Malcolm Stewart argued that under McCain-Feingold, the Government would have the authority to ban books if even one sentence expressly called for the election or defeat of a candidate if it were published or distributed by a corporation or a union. He even took this further saying it could ban digital versions of books for the Amazon Kindle. Yes, the Obama Regime believed McCain-Feingold gave them the right to ban books.
Citizens United was a 5-4 decision. It should scare every real American how many Supreme Court decisions that have saved our Constitution and our Rights in recent years have been 5-4 decisions.
Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion for the Court and he noted that if the McCain-Feingold law were upheld, it would allow the government to ban political speech in Newspapers, books, television and blogs.
Had McCain-Feingold been upheld, the blogosphere would be silenced. We could not say a word about candidates we did not like in the primaries. Since the primaries stretch, as we have all seen, from January to June, Internet sites, newspapers carried online and broadcast stations would have been in the same boat. We could not comment. We could not comment calling for the defeat of the Party of Treason and its candidates for the entire month of October in an election year.
Liberals want to attack Citizens United because they want censorship. If liberals had their way, there would be no talk radio or conservative blogosphere or even the formerly fair and balanced Fox News would be shut down.
We conservatives should not be backing away from this. We should be celebrating Citizens United and the next time a liberal comes up and starts talking about how evil the Citizens United decision was we need to throw it back in their face.
The Democrats scream about Citizens United. But they are the Party of Treason, the Party of Censorship and the Party of Tyranny.
Citizens United saved us from the repeal of the First Amendment. Citizens United saved free speech and freedom of the press in the United States. The only reason liberals do not like the Citizens United decision is because they want censorship.
Citizens United? It was one of the Supreme Court’s best decisions. It helped save the First Amendment.

Permalink Reply by Janet Dobbs on April 4, 2012 at 8:31am You are absolutely right. The only bright spot of the 2008 ticket was Sarah Palin. It's a shame that there are so many Progressives in the GOP masquerading as "Centrists/Moderates." And now they're pushing Romney down our throats.
Maybe a brokered convention would be better.
McCain was NOT the Republican nominee, he was nominated by crossover Democrats and supported strongly by the media in the Republican primaries. As soon as they made McCain the nominee, the Democrats and media switched 180 degrees and blasted him with all their big guns while praising ineligible Obama to the heavens. *** The 25% liberal minority knows how to win by dirty tricks and fraudulent votes -- and the Republican establishment stupidly chose to ignore Obama's obvious ineligibility. *** The Republican leadership always fails to do what it takes to stop the persistent and prevalent Democrat criminal activity. *** Those at the top of the money trail -- Rothschilds, Rockefellers, Morgans, etc. -- covertly buy off all those already elected to federal office, and threaten the grandchildren of those that cannot be bought. *** Even Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck and Fox News Channel were scared to touch the Obama eligibility issue. *** Now that Sheriff Apaio has hard evidence of birth certificate fraud, even National Review reommends that we drop the issue. NR is not the same since Bill Buckley died. Maybe new world order staff have infiltrated NR.

THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN HOW MANY OF US WANT A CANDIDATE......"they Believe that they KNOW WHAT'S FOR THE PARTY......WELL....THEY MAY VERY WELL KNOW WHAT'SBEST FOR THE PARTY.....BUT, THAT IS NOT NECESSARILY WHAT'S BEST FOR "WE THE PEOPLE". THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO "REPRESENT US"...NOT THEM !

I agree Phillip, it is a shame as well they will not take the fraud to jail where he belongs.

Permalink Reply by David J Edwards on April 4, 2012 at 8:43am It is worth keeping in mind that the RNC gave us McCain in 2008 and intends seems to be forcing Romney onto the ballot in 2012. They are not much better than the DNC, but until a decent New Party can be built or the RNC insiders replaced, we are stuck with REPUBs ...and praying our nation can hold together under all that dead weight.
David, I agree 100%. I have given up on the republican party, it is like the democrats and republicans in Washington DC are the same, like two doors leading into the same room, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get the republican party to change, at least not fast enough to save our nation. I don't like the "Third Party" label, and would prefer we start a "New Party". As much as I love the idea that there is no "leader" of the Tea Party, I think that it is time to organize and set some priorities, looking to encompass all the conservatives under a common banner with the specific goal to take our country back. The republican party has managed to beat the Tea Party down again and give us Romney as the only candidate, like McCain, to vote for. We need to go on the attack against the republican party much as we fight against the liberal democrats, after all, the only difference between the two is whether they have an "R" or "D" behind their name come election time. I just wish that I was smart enough to affect the shift to the "New Party". We must struggle through the November election, but for now we must go on record as the soon to be conservative party that replaces the republican party. We need a leader to step up, someone that loves America as we do.
