I was wrong about Herman Cain.

I said originally that Cain could stay on message better than almost any other candidate.  His 9-9-9 plan was all he would talk about and I attributed that to good messaging on his part.

I was wrong.

It is not messaging.  Cain cannot talk about anything else.

Tonight there is a video from the Journal Sentinel online that show an interview with Herman Cain.  Forget the sexual harassment allegations.  Forget Mark Block’s gross incompetence.  Herman Cain needs to leave the race because he is not qualified to be President.

The video is painful to watch.  It is obvious Cain is in over his head and simply clueless.

And this man wants to be the Commander in Chief making decisions?

Candidates have something called briefing books. These are prepared by staffers and contain, among other things, topics candidates are expected to have at least a passing knowledge of.   Cain may not be expected to know the name of the President of Montenegro or the Prime Minister of Moldavia, but Libya is a question that will obviously come up

Watching Herman Cain stumble around looking for an answer is beyond painful.  He looks to the ceiling, desperately seeking an answer.  He responds in vague talking points.

Unfortunately for Herman Cain, Ron Paul was not there to throw him a lifeline.

What this shows more than anything is a stunning lack of preparation by not only the campaign staff, but by Herman Cain.  This was not even a semi obscure question like what should American policy be towards Sri Lanka.

In the debate last Saturday night, Herman Cain’s foreign policy philosophy seemed to be, ‘I’ll surround my self with people who have a clue because I do not.’

Earth to Herman Cain.  You cannot subcontract out the duties of President.

This is not deciding whether you will sign a ceremonial proclamation for national railroad month.

Newt Gingrich would have had no problem with this.  Neither would Michele Bachman, or Ron Paul or Rick Santorum or even Mitt Romney or Jon Huntsman.

Herman Cain has some very dedicated supporters.  A few days ago, when I came out saying he should leave the race, they expressed their displeasure towards me in no uncertain terms.

To the Cain supporters, I simply say watch this video and ask yourself, “Is this the man you want answering the red phone in the White House at 3 AM?”

You can watch the video here.

The funny issue here is that both Gingrich and Romney agree with Rick Perry on immigration. But Romney won't actually admit it." I would actually suggest that Perry is more than a smidge to the right of those two on immigration (Perry opposes amnesty, folks, unlike the other two), despite the gross misrepresentation over Texas' tuition law that has taken place in this campaign. And nobody can touch Rick Perry's actual record of accomplishment on border security. Nobody. Not even that electric fence and alligators guy or the double fence gal. While the national DREAM Act is controversial and contentious (for good reason), the Texas tuition law passed nearly unanimously (zero no votes out of both House and Senate committees, and only a handful of votes against it on the floor out of 181 legislators) and has enjoyed nearly controversy-free existence in Texas for ten years and three Perry elections. 94% of Republican legislators voted for it.  The Texas tuition law does not provide amnesty, nor could it (unlike the national DREAM  Act). The Texas tuition law does not provide free tuition, grants, special scholarships, or other financial aid (unlike the national DREAM Act and the California DREAM Act).

It's not about special treatment, it's about equal treatment for all Texas residents. The suggestion that it is some kind of $100K subsidy is laughable on its face-- no way would conservatives in the Texas legislature have gone for that.

The Texas tuition law, with a fiscal note of zero dollars, does not cost taxpayers anything (unlike the national DREAM Act).

The Texas tuition law does not offer preferential admissions to anyone and has never displaced any Texas student. To qualify for the right to pay tuition at the same resident rate as other Texas residents under the Texas tuition law, a student has to be in the immigration system, "living in this country under a visa permitting permanent resident or who has applied to or has a petition pending with the INS to attain lawful status .nder federal immigration law." The student must have graduated from a Texas high school and have lived in Texas for three years or more before graduation. To qualify, the student cannot be "undocumented" in the sense that they must have a pending immigration application or a visa.

Out of more than 1.8 million Texas college students, about 16K are paying resident tuition under HB 1403. In fact, most non-citizens are at far-flung community colleges, not at major flagship universities. Of those 16K, 12K are attending two-year community colleges. Fewer than a thousand attend Texas or Texas A&M.

Governor Perry opposes amnesty (unlike Romney), opposes the national DREAM Act, and he is easily the most pro-border security Governor in U.S. history, having spent more than $400 million Texas taxpayer dollars since 2005 to do one of the few duties the Federal Government is obligated to do, securing our sovereign border. The real issue here is not about whether Texas passed a law with near unanimity that treats all of its taxpaying Residents the same way, its that the federal Government has failed to secure the border and stop the flow of illegal immigration, so we have to dael with reality, and perry as govenor has done more on border security than anyone else in the field

They don’t go to college…they go to mexico…Perry 2012

THANK YOU FOR THE CLARITY

Gabby M.

Couldn't agree with you more about Perry and everything else you just said. I feel the Republican Party is trying to cram Romney down our throats. When they call me for money, I tell them no, I'll donate my money to Perry or whoever I decide on.  That being said, I know people who were Democrats and are now Independents because of the "Chicago Gang".  I'm amazed that anyone would blame Perry because he used to work for W.  If someone's ex does something wrong, does it taint them just because they were once married?  And as far as Perry making mistakes and people wanting to criticize him for them, I would rather have someone human and not so slick. Isn't that what some people say they are looking for.

ABSOLUTELY JENNIFER  I JUST WISH MORE PEOPLE WOULD SEE WHAT IS GOING ON HERE-- I THINK PERRY IS STARTING TO GET MORE SUPPORT OVER ON THE "DO NOTHING PRESIDENT SITE"   LOTS OF VIDEOS PERRY MADE- B.ZIPPER HAS BEEN POSTING THEM, ESPECIALLY THE ONE HE DID WHEN HE APPEARED AT THE FREEDOM CONCERT FOR HANNITY-- HANNITY SHOULDN'T BE SO COLD TOWARDS HIM NOW.

THANK YOU -

This all seems so irrelevant  to me. This country can't afford for voters to be petty this time around.  We must get behind whoever is the Republican candidate.......regardless, because anyone would be better than what we have.  Voters who carelessly voted last time are responsible for this mess not W.

JENNIFER

PLEASE READ WHAT I RESPONDED TO RON'S COMMENT

The differences are only explained by a light version of the Hatfield's and McCoys (yeah, I  know, that was in the Blue Ridge Mountains...and they still keep up the legend. Most now know that all ended 3 decades ago because of a truce, young women and men from each family began marrying. Grandchildren ended that one) and the Perry's said about the Bush's as far back as anyone can remember. in the mid 1990's, G.W. tried to mend fences. It just ended as was before!

Who knows, really, Lynn  and Ronald ?

Cain has dropped out...gone. Perry's game is a bit off now. Can't get inside the heads of either. Not right or wrong about either....and all a matter of speculation. Let's see how things pan out, shall we?

LYNN

THANK YOU FOR THAT POST--I THOUGHT IS WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO SAW THE POSITIVE IN PERRY  I NEVER USED TO THIS-- AND I DON'T KNOW IF I VIEW THIS CORRECTLY-- BUT I JUST CHECK BACK AND SEE IF ANYONE HAS ANSWERED OR CONVERSED WITH ANY COMMENTS I WROTE-- ALL NEW TO ME TOO-- I CATCH ON.

AND HOW HE WAS HAMMERED BY CAIN FOR NO REASON-- I FEEL IT WAS DONE PURPOSELY TO KNOCK HIM OUT OF THE LEAD HE TOOK

SEE MY COMMENTS MADE TO RONALD-- AND JENNIFER-- PERRY KNOWS HIS FOREIGN POLICY

AND HE BELIEVES IN ALLOWING THE STATES HANDLE THEIR STATE AND NOT THE FEDS - DEPT.OF EDUCATION -NEEDS TO GO- AND NEWT WANTS TO EXPAND IN ANOTHER WAY.

SORRY- PERRY=EXPERIENCE=JOBS RECORD=BUSINESS CREATION=DRILLING=TOTAL OPPOSITE OF OBAMA--AND KNOWS HOW TO LEAD

YOU ARE RIGHT LYNN-- I HOPE PEOPLE WILL TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT HIM-- HE MAY NOT BE A SLICK WILLY-SILVER TONGUED SNAKE-- BUT HE IS A DOER!!! AND HE WILL FINALLY GET THAT BORDER CLOSED -- THAT WOULD BE A SLAP IN THE OLD SOROS FACE!!!  WHO HAS BEEN TRYING LIKE HELL TO COLLAPSE OUR SYSTEM

As I said below, Nobody that spends taxpayer dollars on results of illegal actions gets my vote. Case in point, $22,000 per year for illegal's kids to go to school. Especially when kids of legal citizens dont get the "same" help. I dont care what flimsey rational you use, it is wrong.

Lynn Oleary: Welcome aboard. It just takes posting some comments awhile to learn this sysytem. I had a lot of fun when I tried to copy and paste photos and video links in here using the buttons above, as well as resizing the text from other articles.
