This morning, ABC News breathlessly announced the news they had been waiting for. They finally had an incident involving violence, this being the mass murder in Aurora Colorado and they thought a Tea Party member did it.
There was celebration at the office of Democratic Media, otherwise known as ABC News.
Then reality came crashing down on them.
The gunman was identified as James Holmes and there was a Jim Holmes identified as a member of the Colorado Tea Party Patriots.
Only Jim Holmes is a 50 something year old man, not a 24 year old murderer.
Brian Ross and ABC News have apologized.
Gee, that was nice of them.
Perhaps they could learn the first rule of journalism, namely get your facts right the first time.
The real problem with ABC news and the rest of the dinosaur news media is they are little more than shills for the far left. How many conservatives are working for ABC News in an on air capacity? Zero.
How many liberals? There is George Stephanopoulos, there is Robin Wright, there is Diane Sawyer and the list just goes on and on.
ABC does have its pet Republican, George Will who they bring out on Sunday talk shows so he can sit there, outnumbered three to one and offer non-offensive, not to mention non-effective Republican talking points.
The narrative of the Tea Party member committing crimes is a narrative the media has been desperately trying to push since 2009.
Does anyone remember earlier this year? A man named Michael Kobulnicky was arrested for rape and kidnapping. Kobulnicky had been active in the Tea Party movement in San Diego for a period of time but had stepped down.
The media went gaga. MSNBC heralded the news they had been waiting for. They could now gleefully ignore the rapes at the occupy mob camps throughout the nation. They had a Tea Party criminal.
Only then did something tragic happen.
When the case went to court a few days later, the victim who had been raped and kidnapped said, he isn’t the guy who raped and kidnapped me.
All of the drive by media outlets that reported on Kobulnicky’s arrest were amazingly silent when the charges against him were dismissed.
In January 2011, when then Congressman Gabby Giffords was shot, the media again jumped. We have a Tea Party assassin.
No, that one didn’t work out either. Turns out he was not that interested in politics.
And now we have today’s incident.
There is a remedy that should be sought. Whenever someone offends liberal sensibilities the usual requirement is sensitivity training and affirmative action. Well, this is the perfect case for it. ABC should require all of its on air staff as well as its editorial staff to attend conservative/Tea Party sensitivity training. In addition, ABC should show its contrition by hiring a couple of conservatives for major roles on the network. After all, if it can hire a communications director from the Clinton administration who had never done a news show before, why can’t they hire one or two Tea Party activists for a major role on the air?

Permalink Reply by Roger Raslavsky on July 20, 2012 at 2:59pm The Tea Party is a threat to the establisment. Not only do we not belive their propaganda about the wonders of big government, but we have the unmitigated gall to say so in public. So they have to take potshots at the tea party every chance they get.
It was suggested on another web site that the shooting may have been a "false flag" event to stoke up more opposition to the second amendment.
Permalink Reply by Mike Meeks on July 20, 2012 at 3:02pm What will the liberal do if we can build the Tea Party up in the Senate to 33 members, congress up to 150 members.
Both parties will be in more of a "can't we all just get along" mood.

Democraps are even more dangerous with a loaded vote in their possession.
It is ridiculous to measure motivation for this kind of thing solely in terms of ideology. That implies rational thought behind irrational behavior.
Much more pertinent in my view is the extent and nature of their drug involvement. It really irks me that so little attention is given to the effects of habitual use of illicit drugs on mental and emotional capacities. Some idiot like Jared Laughner (Gabby Giffords shooter) burns out his frontal lobe with mood-altering poison and then is presented as a "victim of societal neglect". I call BS!
I can almost guarantee that an honest look at the recent histories of these mass shooters, both juvenile and adult, would reveal alarming rates and kinds of illicit drug use in at least 90% of them. Nidal Hassan (of Ft. Hood fame) may (or may not!) be a notable exception but the rest I find highly suspect.
It's just one more way the journalism community is letting us down insofar as they don't even ask the question, let alone report any findings.

This only proves that out of millions of fairly normal people, there's unfortunately going to be a
mad man in the bunch now and then. He may use a gun, or next time a bomb, or an airplane!
Does that mean we have to ground all airplanes now?
That's about as crazy as all the talking heads in the media today, talking about the need for movie theaters, and other venues where large numbers of people gather, to invest in new security measures, consultants, and technology or risk massive civil liability judgments for any future events like this as a predictable threat.
What next - will Obama suggest creating a new role for the TSA to please his public sector union friends? Instead of just airports, they can grow (creating new jobs!) by providing security at movie theaters, stadiums, shopping malls, train stations, beaches, swimming pools, theme parks, colleges and high schools, restaurants, etc. etc. Anyplace where more than 50 people gather as potential targets. The growth potential is unlimited. Each attack by a wacko brings us closer to a police state in which everyone expects the TSA to save them, as opposed to taking personal responsibility for their own safety. Who will protect us from the government?
I want to apologize in advance for the remarks I am about to emote. I, again, apologize for immediately desisting reading the article and reporting to the remarks dept. before possibly concluding that the writer had already conceived, analyzed and remarked as I thus,..
George Will? I began to think,...George will?,... would anyone buy a short thin dildo?
Since ABC is apparently OK with going on the air with speculation which isn't substantiated by any verified facts, perhaps they will run with this different hypothesis.
Maybe the shooter was depressed because of Obamacare. As a med student and all his very successful years of study, he may have realized that any dream of private practice and financial success had been destroyed, especially after the recent SCOTUS decision. He could only look forward to being a union employee in a hospital, working at the whim of the federal bureaucrats who would evaluate his work against average standards of care rather than excellence. His pay would be limited by declining federal price controls, but his potential liabilities would be driven by the political connections of the trial lawyers rather than his performance. He could be penalized if he didn't follow the standard procedures established by bureaucrats rather than his own knowledge of what works, and his practical experience with the specific patient and many others.
Is it any wonder that potential doctors may be going crazy as government goes wild and destroys their expected career prospects after already studying for many years and going into debt to prepare for that profession? Let's face it, this is certainly a more plausible hypothesis than blaming the Tea Party, which has no history of violence despite many direct provocations, such as by anarchists like this latest wacko.
So, there's your next scoop through speculation rather than facts, ABC. Obviously, Obama is responsible for this shooting by driving the shooter crazy over the last year, and John Roberts pushed him over the edge last month by upholding Obamacare..

Using the progressives' own pretzel logic against them is always priceless -- they get to experience that dazed-and-confused look that conservatives get when trying to argue logic and facts with them, and we get to enjoy seeing it for a change.
