It was only a matter of time before some adults finally dealt with the juvenile temper tantrum that is being called the Occupy movement.
The police have finally moved in and cleared up the encampments of Occupy Atlanta and Occupy Oakland.
In Oakland, after almost a week of planning, police moved into the Occupy Oakland encampment in front of City Hall. You know a left wing protest is going bad when left wing Mayors abandon it and that is exactly what happened here.
Oakland Mayor Jean Quan originally supported the movement. Then she quit supporting it. The “official” reason she quit supporting Occupy Oakland was the camp was a public health hazard. The real reason is something far different.
The real reason is the truth is slowly seeping past the drive by media press release coverage of the Occupy movement.
Democratic Pollster (and former Clinton advisor) Doug Schoen went out and polled the Occupy Wall Street crowd. He came away horrified and his message to Democrats was do not tie yourselves to this movement.
Schoen said the protestors were “bound by a deep commitment to radical left wing policies.” That statement is not coming from Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck. That statement is coming from a Democrat!
Our research shows clearly that the movement doesn't represent unemployed America and is not ideologically diverse. Rather, it comprises an unrepresentative segment of the electorate that believes in radical redistribution of wealth, civil disobedience and, in some instances, violence. Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.
The vast majority of demonstrators are actually employed, and the proportion of protesters unemployed (15%) is within single digits of the national unemployment rate (9.1%).
An overwhelming majority of demonstrators supported Barack Obama in 2008. Now 51% disapprove of the president while 44% approve, and only 48% say they will vote to re-elect him in 2012, while at least a quarter won't vote.
In Atlanta, police finally cleared Woodruff Park after the Mayor of Atlanta said the Occupy Atlanta gathering was moving towards escalation.
As they were arrested, the Occupy Atlanta crowd shouted, “Our Park.”
No it is not your park. The park belongs to the people of Atlanta.
Until now, the liberal politicians have been paralyzed. They feared offending a liberal voting group. But as the reality of what the Occupy movement is about has become known, even the liberal mayors realize this movement is not something they want to be tied to.
The far left had hoped this Occupy movement would start civil chaos and might push capitalism over the edge. Now their movement is fading. The majority of Americans are starting to see the movement for what it is and are losing support for it. Climate change, as Al Gore calls it and winter as sane people know it, is coming and few of the protestors will want to be camping out in freezing weather.
The Occupy movement is coming to an end.
The lesson we need to learn is that there is a hard left out there. It is not a boogey man we rail against, but it is very real. While it is doubtful they could ever create the socialist revolution they want, it is worth remembering that the citizens of other countries believed radicals were not a threat until the day they took over the government.
We need to redouble our efforts to ensure we elect a conservative president in 2012 and get serious about dismantling socialism.
Absolutely right! :)
I want the "Flea Party" to keep on being the "Tea Party" of the left. It is turning more and more people off to the left, as sane human beings flee from these idiots as they examine their own values, against what is being placed before them. G-d and Country are still in the hearts of most Americans and most Americans do not like what they are seeing. Most Americans are not antiestablishment and certainly are not Anti-Semitic. When we allow this country to spit in the face of the Jews and do not protest with all that is within us, we are finished as a nation blessed by G-d.
Read Genesis 12: 1-3.
