Has Obama and the left won?
It may not the election we are talking about but has Obama and the far left won? Is America finished?
It could be. The left is close to achieving a major goal and that goal would mean it would be impossible for conservatives to ever undo the damage.
What is it?
From the Wall Street Journal:
49.1%: Percent of the population that lives in a household where at least one member received some type of government benefit in the first quarter of 2011.
Cutting government spending is no easy task, and it’s made more complicated by recent Census Bureau data showing that nearly half of the people in the U.S. live in a household that receives at least one government benefit, and many likely received more than one.
The 49.1% of the population in a household that gets benefits is up from 30% in the early 1980s and 44.4% as recently as the third quarter of 2008.
The increase in recent years is likely due in large part to the lingering effects of the recession. As of early 2011, 15% of people lived in a household that received food stamps, 26% had someone enrolled in Medicaid and 2% had a member receiving unemployment benefits. Families doubling up to save money or pool expenses also is likely leading to more multigenerational households. But even without the effects of the recession, there would be a larger reliance on government.
The Census data show that 16% of the population lives in a household where at least one member receives Social Security and 15% receive or live with someone who gets Medicare. There is likely a lot of overlap, since Social Security and Medicare tend to go hand in hand, but those percentages also are likely to increase as the Baby Boom generation ages.
Once we get over 50% of the population drawing government benefits, it will be almost impossible to roll them back. This is the goal of the left.
We have seen the end results in Europe. In Europe, the size of government transfers in either excessive government wages and pensions or in welfare benefits have expanded to where they consume the entire budget. As they welfare state consumes the budget, political leaders pander to the welfare constituencies and the public employee unions, taxes are raised and raised until the economy cannot sustain them any longer.
As the economy craters, decisive action is needed. Unfortunately at that point, the beneficiaries of government transfers vote in politicians who will not vote for the politicians who could solve the problem.
What is the result?
Greece.
This is what the left wants. They want to destroy the American economic system just as they are destroying the economies, governments and societies of Europe.
We have precious little time left.
If we do not elect courageous leaders this time, who are willing to make the cuts in spending and government programs, the scales will tip and America will be lost.
Does anyone question why we must vote Obama out of office.

I'm a firm believer that nothing is impossible. My dad didn't raise us that way. It might take some "butt-kicking," but we can turn this country around. When we do, it's necessary to make sure no one mistakes why, how, and when all this started. Unfortunately, the welfare situation is older than most of us, and not all of it is Obama's fault...however, that said, he has to go because he intends to destroy this country.

Permalink Reply by Norman Zink on JsP, I am a Christian and have not heard of this write-in vote for 'Jesus'. IMHO this utter foolishness!!!! And I do not think that God is honored by their folly. It accomplishes nothing useful spiritually or politically. The Bible says that the heart of the King (ruler) is influenced by God. Like I said in a previous post, there is no perfection in politics. Romney is not perfect but at least it can be said that he is a 'moral man.' I am not voting for him to be a priest or a bishop of the USA, but for president. In 1960, there was a worry that JFK would be the Pope's puppet, but that never happened. So, Jesus is not on the ticket and it's time to be pragmatic, that is, concerned with making decisions and actions that are useful in practice.

Permalink Reply by Chas Jones on I am familiar with Bill Keller. As with ALL human endeavors, it is only a matter of WHEN we err, not IF. I have emailed Bill and requested he withdraw his support and participation from that web site and movement. I have no doubt Bill was well intentioned. I also have NO doubt that Bill's intentions aside, nothing in Holy Scripture teaches, let alone commands, voting for Jesus in civil elections.
I sincerely hope Bill will consider my plea and withdraw his support for that misguided endeavor.
Permalink Reply by John Bellaire on A utopia where everyone is taken care of and nobody has problems is the selling points for socialists. However it has never worked in all of history. Nothing has changed in human nature and the desire for a utopia will not work now. There has always been wars, hungry people, and the poor. There are people who do not wish to work if given a job. The ability of those who are successful to totally maintain those who are not eventually has limititations. I think countries in Europe and particularly Greece have met their limitations and the result is financial meltdown. It is not the path that the United States should follow, but it should reverse the course immediately, and it is not the responsibility of the United States to save all the world from disaster. The United States should be concerned for its own financial security first. Other than spending money foolishly, obtaining loans from China to pay for the extravegances may be the most irresponsible thing Obama has done.
