The crazy train is going down the rails at full speed. It is has now picked up two new passengers.
Who are they?
Ann Coulter and Mitt Romney.
Ann Coulter has long been the darling of conservative audiences. She has a rapier wit and has used her writing skills to eviscerate liberals from Bill Clinton to Barack Obama. Unfortunately, Ann does not realize that the GOP is home to liberals as well.
She has endorsed Mitt Romney, or as we like to call him on TPN, Mitt for brains.
Now she has come out with what can only be described as an absolutely moronic statement.

Pemmaraju pressed Coulter on Romney’s conservatism, adding that the Tea Party has resisted him strongly, an indication he may not be as conservative as she thinks. Coulter replied that the Tea Party was “wrong about this” because “they’re looking at who is going to go around bombastically demanding to see Obama’s birth certificate or calling him a Kenyan,” instead of substance. She added that “Rick Santorum and [Rick] Perry are very bad on illegal immigration” despite being considered more conservative.
If this is what Ann Coulter really believes, she is not conservative. She is clueless.
Perhaps she wants more acceptance at those North Eastern Country Clubs where the RINO establishment hangs out. Who knows? One thing is certain, she is certainly managing to offend the people who buy her books. Her last book, “Demonic” was pretty good, but there are a lot of other authors out there and I can find many who write well, yet manage not to insult me and millions of other real Americans.
If Ann Coulter is clueless, it is hard to even find words to describe Mitt for brains and his latest comment.

Mitt Romney said today he’s “the ideal candidate” for the Tea Party movement because his stance on issues lines up “pretty darn well” with the movement he says will soon realize that GOP frontrunner Newt Gingrich isn’t their best option for president.
“I recognize that the speaker has a big lead here,” Romney said of Gingrich in a press conference in South Carolina. “But I think as people take a closer and closer look, they’ll recognize that I reflect more effectively the positions which they hold on key issues.
Either Mitt Romney has been hitting the hooch or he is disqualified from running for President because he is totally delusional.
Mitt Romney is not a conservative. He is not a moderate. He is a flat out, hard left wing liberal.
Mitt Romney has made an effort not to reach out to the Tea Party until now because he does not like the Tea Party. He does not stand with the Tea Party. As far as I know, he has only attended one Tea Party event. That was during the Tea Party Express tour and I was at that event. He did not say one word to the Tea Party.
Either Romney is a total liar, which I believe, or he is nuts if he believes the Tea Party is going to believe him.
Mitt Romney is clearly traveling first class on the crazy train. The only question is, does he get a complementary straight jacket with his first class ticket?

But I have noticed lately that her sharpness has developed a bit of a nasty edge - snarky and often petty - especially when directed at fellow conservatives who don't follow her line of thinking. Same with Laura Ingraham and Michelle Maulkin.
Time to sheath the claws ladies - doesn't look nice.

Permalink Reply by Harry f. Hagan on Dear O dear. This is all wrong-headed, imo. Firstly, Ann C. is a bona fide conservative. If she isn't, no one is. She certainly shouldn't have made those comments, though. I have observed over the years that she (and myself, as well), doesn't do well at quick and ready wit, though she always tries to be witty. She is much better at thoughtful and circumscribed expression.
Secondly, I used a link to vetting the candidates that I found here on the TPN, and found that the candidates who most matched my criteria are Newt, Michelle, and Mitt. How can that be? Is Mitt really and truly that big a liar? I doubt it. Newt has written adoringly of Andy Stern (a commie, apparently), and says FDR is the greatest pres of the XXth Century. So how genuine is he? The eyes are the windows on the soul, and though I support Newt, and have sent a bit of dough to his campaign, I have a constant, disconcerted feeling of doubt. I keep looking into his eyes, and I'm not liking what I see there.
Lastly, there is not just this one Tea Party; I belong to three myself, and I know of two others, at least. I think we should consolidate them, or at least have a Tea Party Convention, where we agree on a few, all important, sine qua non precepts.
We are up against a Left that holds no truths to be self-evident, and that seems to enjoy prevarication in all its forms. In a word, Evil itself. I really cannot believe that Mitt is part of that, and I'm sure, if I can be sure of anything, that Ann Coulter is not a liar, is not evil, and that she is indubitably a conservative, paleo, America-loving patriot.
We must be very, very, careful, and very circumspect.
The issue with her is her subjectiveness in wanting Romney over Gingrich. Gingrich had a lot of substantial accomplishments and she is deriding him as a flambouyant goofball. The only flambouyant goofball is Coulter.
Tony Blankley was Newt's press secretary and wrote in Townhall that the savaging of Gingrich is the GOP establishment wanting Romney as the safer choice. Now they are doubling down on their early bet and are out telling reporters that Gingrich was never much of a leader and never got much done.
Curious. I remember most of them enthusiastically following his leadership year after year as the Republican whip from 1989-1994. It was the most successful congressional opposition movement since Benjamin Disraeli formed the modern Conservative Party in Britain in the mid-19th century. And after the GOP took back the House for the first time in 40 years (and the Senate, too, by the way), Gingrich's four years as speaker proved to be the most productive, legislative congressional years since at least 1965 to 1967, and they were led by Lyndon B. Johnson from the White House. Working against -- and with -- Democratic President Bill Clinton, we passed into law most of the Contract with America, welfare reform, telecommunications reform (which ushered in the modern cell phone and Internet age), we had the first balanced budget since before the Vietnam War, we cut taxes and lowered unemployment to under 5 percent.
Just who the heck do all these wizard political pros think managed all that?
After writing that Blankley concluded:

When I heard Ann coulter on Sean Hannity the other night say that Romney was as conservative as Michelle Bachmann I went nuts. Well not nuts but started yelling at the TV, I have let my wife's road rage influence me, anyway I wanted to write into Hannity and tell him that Ann Coulter was taking a little to many drinks or snorts in her case. Well the next night it looks like I wasn't the only one to have gotten pissed off about her comments because Hannity had to address the outrage of his viewers. And Mitt Romney just made that comment about the Tea Party because I think he knows already that the fix is in and that he is going to get the nomination. Fox news is so up Romneys Tuckus it's not even funny. I get mad every time I hear Fox news say they are fair and balanced now. Yeah and im Ronald Reagan too. Newt is winning and if he doesn't do something stupid then he might be able to pull it off bit Newt going to have to throw a lot of ads defending his believes and his views then The GOP will be will be able to knock Newt out and put their man Romney in. Judson is right about the GOP being taken over by liberals, Anyone who would prefer a RINO over a conservative certainly is not a person I consider to be a conservative and has no reason to be running the GOP.

Isn't it ironic that the Iowa Sentennial, the most influencial so called conservative news paper endorsed Romney right after the Saturday debate, although Newt did a stellar job compared to Mitt?
You will now see every major so called conservative news media endorse Mitt right after he leaves their state. I wonder how much that machine pays them off to do so? Call me a cynic. Both parties are corrupt.
