The battle has started.  The first few shots of the skirmishes before the full battle is engaged.  The battle is the battle to stop the raising of the debt ceiling.

“TurboTax” Tim Geithner has already gotten out front and center on this battle.  He is coming out with the standard propaganda from the regime that it will be the end of the world as we know it if we do not raise the debt ceiling.

Unfortunately for Americans, who thought that by putting the GOP in charge, we would have some real opposition to the Obama, Pelosi, Reid axis of fiscal evil, John Boehner seems to have an unlimited supply of freshly laundered white flags of surrender he wants to haul up.

Geithner has said that Boehner and other senior Republicans have told Obama that they will go along with the plan to increase the debt ceiling.

My how things change.  Less than fifteen months ago, Eric Cantor excoriated the Democrats who wanted to raise the debt ceiling from $12 trillion to $14.65 trillion.  What has changed now that makes Eric Cantor think raising the debt ceiling is no longer a bad idea?  Maybe Eric Cantor is the bad idea.

The left has already been pushing a traditional strategy for them.  They want conservatives to agree to increase the debt ceiling now and then we will work on plans for long term spending control.    This is an old trick.  It worked well for the Democrats in the 80’s. Ronald Reagan went to Washington and he wanted two things.  First he wanted tax cuts to stimulate the economy and then he wanted spending cuts.  The Democrats were happy to sign on to the popular tax cuts, but when it came time to do the tough work, namely cutting pet programs, they balked.

We in the Tea Party need to act now.  We have a favorable terrain for this battle.    We already have at least 142 Republicans who have said they will vote against the debt ceiling increase.  In the Senate, 40 Senators could filibuster this increase.   Surprisingly some support could come from the Democrats.  They already see the handwriting on the wall for 2012.   A few of them who are up for reelection in 2012 may decide that filibustering the debt ceiling increase might be a good move to help get them reelected.  They need to be encouraged.   We need to encourage those who are thinking about running for President to get out in front of this issue.  I have my doubts about Donald Trump, but this would be a good issue for him to lead on.

We in the Tea Party need to take individual action.  Today, I will be going to a meeting with my Congressman.  I have already spoken with her political director and I’m sure they know why I am going to be there.  If my Senators hold a meeting, you can bet I will be there too.  This is what we all need to do.

We need to contact our Congressmen and Senators and stay on them.  218 votes wins this battle in the House.  40 votes gets us a filibuster in the Senate.  Our Congressmen need our attention.   With Boehner, Cantor and the GOP leadership selling out, we need to reinforce the idea the people are tired of this. If they vote for the debt ceiling increase, they need to know they will not have to worry about the House leadership giving them a cushy committee position. They will not have their job in the House after the next election.

We did not help the GOP win last November, simply to have a House filled with R’s behind their name. We sent them there to stop the outrageous spending and be more fiscally responsible. Raising the debt ceiling is not being fiscally responsible.

The fight has begun.  We need everyone on the front lines, helping America survive.

USA just read the link and am glad you posted it.  Cuts must happen NOW, and not put off for weeks or months.  We can play this government shutdown threat game but its gonna cost us....America!  Either cut and cut big, DC, or give us a refund before you pick up your pink slips!
With the credit rating of our debt getting hammered this morning, maybe er have a chance to see some real cutting.
Royal, I would like to think so, but, Harry Reid and Obama don't understand yet.

Don't understand yet?  Oh, DJ, you're too kind!

My hammer may not be a big as the speaker's, but I have a great aim!

You go Shirley!

IT'S HAMMER TIME!

Royal,

Don't hold your breath. Personally I believe that both parties either don't want to correct our economy or they are just plain incapable of doing so. I honestly believe they cherish their positions of power over true leadership of our country to the extent they will allow it to collapse in order to convince us we need them to fix it. As Charley Reese so eloquently stated,

"Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them."

Judson--

I agree.  However, as I see things, the only way to supplement your proposal is to elect sufficient Tea Party candidates that WILL NOT CAVE!  Do you have a plan in mind to identify sufficient numbers of Tea Party candidates to replace Democrats and RINOs in Congress for 2012?

The other point I wish to make to you and all Tea Party Patriots is that we must now revisit my post of some time ago called "Leaders Among Us."  I am getting more and more convinced that we will not be able to suitably "motivate" elected officials in place--even Republicans.  I fear that the time has come for the Tea Party to become a political party.  I know what many will say.  No!!  We will merely give Obama another 4 years!!  Yes, there is this risk.  However, just how long are we going to rely on our "abilities" to truly "influence" policy, indirectly?  We are close to losing America, as we have known it.

Look at the record, even though we had 41 Senate seats last year and 47 this year plus a majority in the House:

Obamacare, DADT, end run by EPA on CO2, threat of Internet control, a mere 1% tax cut on the 2011 budget, poor treaty with Russia on nuclear weapons, threat of national ID card, threat of UN rights of child, threat of small arms ban, a mere 2 year extension of the Bush tax cuts, law governing food production--even household gardens, threat of UN treaty on control of all water--even if not navigatable, threat to DOMA, no action on border control, lawsuit against AZ, etc.

Judson, the odds are still good that Obama will get re-elected.  He has many special interest groups in his corner.  He is raising a lot of money.  It will be a repeat of what happened in Nevada with Reid.  And the cost reduction actions of the various GOP governors will drive voters back to the Democrats.

I know you feel Trump is not the guy.  But, I see little truly charismatic talent out there.  Somehow, we must win the Senate and Oval Office next year.  If not, America will become a 3rd World nation.

If not Trump--then, let us pick someone else and push them over the finish line.  We must win or the Republic will be lost.

Carlo,

I just got off the phone with our useless piece of trash Senator "Stabmenow's" office. Her rude and condescending aide wouldn't answer my simple question of of where the Senator stands on the Debt Ceiling issue. She kept directing me to send an e-mail so I can receive her prim and proper form letter response. I have received dozens of those great "leadership" letters about how hard she's working for jobs, economic stability and Blah Blah Blah! yet Michigan continues to fail in all these areas.

This is the absolute arrogance of these incompetent and criminal leaders we have here and throughout our great nation. It's time we stood up and told them we are in charge.

569 days until November 6, 2012!

Raising the debt ceiling is wrong. We have too much money owed as it stands. It would be fiscal irresponsibility to raise the debt ceiling and let them spend more.  Boehner is proven a RINO and Cantor is not far behind. We have to get someone like Allen West to be Speaker of the House. Boehner is not going to work to further the conservative cause. He is really behind Obama to the point Obama is counting on his vote. He should not handle the discussions for the conservatives on this issue and he is not the type of man that could hold up in discussions that are going to be had on this matter. This is so critical that I hope the Tea Party will select someone other than Boehner to handle these discussions.  You cannot trust Obama and you cannot trust Boehner. The Tea Party is all that stands between the public and Obama's New World Order and a tax plan that will be a disaster for the nation. This the only way to stop him. We cannot let Obama win this battle at any cost.
Mr. Russell, your letter is so to the point and extremely well written.  I would like to pass it around as well.
Patsy, thank you very much for the kind words. It is posted for anyone to use. My goal is to take our country back and God has blessed me with the ability to write so that is how I go about my task.
