The battle has started.  The first few shots of the skirmishes before the full battle is engaged.  The battle is the battle to stop the raising of the debt ceiling.

“TurboTax” Tim Geithner has already gotten out front and center on this battle.  He is coming out with the standard propaganda from the regime that it will be the end of the world as we know it if we do not raise the debt ceiling.

Unfortunately for Americans, who thought that by putting the GOP in charge, we would have some real opposition to the Obama, Pelosi, Reid axis of fiscal evil, John Boehner seems to have an unlimited supply of freshly laundered white flags of surrender he wants to haul up.

Geithner has said that Boehner and other senior Republicans have told Obama that they will go along with the plan to increase the debt ceiling.

My how things change.  Less than fifteen months ago, Eric Cantor excoriated the Democrats who wanted to raise the debt ceiling from $12 trillion to $14.65 trillion.  What has changed now that makes Eric Cantor think raising the debt ceiling is no longer a bad idea?  Maybe Eric Cantor is the bad idea.

The left has already been pushing a traditional strategy for them.  They want conservatives to agree to increase the debt ceiling now and then we will work on plans for long term spending control.    This is an old trick.  It worked well for the Democrats in the 80’s. Ronald Reagan went to Washington and he wanted two things.  First he wanted tax cuts to stimulate the economy and then he wanted spending cuts.  The Democrats were happy to sign on to the popular tax cuts, but when it came time to do the tough work, namely cutting pet programs, they balked.

We in the Tea Party need to act now.  We have a favorable terrain for this battle.    We already have at least 142 Republicans who have said they will vote against the debt ceiling increase.  In the Senate, 40 Senators could filibuster this increase.   Surprisingly some support could come from the Democrats.  They already see the handwriting on the wall for 2012.   A few of them who are up for reelection in 2012 may decide that filibustering the debt ceiling increase might be a good move to help get them reelected.  They need to be encouraged.   We need to encourage those who are thinking about running for President to get out in front of this issue.  I have my doubts about Donald Trump, but this would be a good issue for him to lead on.

We in the Tea Party need to take individual action.  Today, I will be going to a meeting with my Congressman.  I have already spoken with her political director and I’m sure they know why I am going to be there.  If my Senators hold a meeting, you can bet I will be there too.  This is what we all need to do.

We need to contact our Congressmen and Senators and stay on them.  218 votes wins this battle in the House.  40 votes gets us a filibuster in the Senate.  Our Congressmen need our attention.   With Boehner, Cantor and the GOP leadership selling out, we need to reinforce the idea the people are tired of this. If they vote for the debt ceiling increase, they need to know they will not have to worry about the House leadership giving them a cushy committee position. They will not have their job in the House after the next election.

We did not help the GOP win last November, simply to have a House filled with R’s behind their name. We sent them there to stop the outrageous spending and be more fiscally responsible. Raising the debt ceiling is not being fiscally responsible.

The fight has begun.  We need everyone on the front lines, helping America survive.

Split the difference: raise the debt limit by the same amount that the budget gets cut. If the deficit is 1.5 trillion, raise the limit 0.75 trillion and cut the budget 0.75 trillion. Next time, do it by 0.375, then 0.1875, and so on. There can't be any legitimate argument against it!
I would write to my congressman, but there is no point.  He consistantly votes like a communist.

Framing The Debt Limit Debate

You guys have written great letters.  I wrote one too.  However, I cannot find the House addresses for the 112th Congress.  I have the Senate ... but the only House one I can find they want $97 for.  And that's supposed to be public information!  Anyway, if anyone has a list of the House DC addresses, I would appreciate a copy - unless of course, you had to pay for it.  I don't expect something for nothing.

If you have a copy and would be amenable to sharing, I would really appreciate it.  Leave me a message here, and I'll give you my email.

As an aside, we don't want Trump as a President, nor to run to be President.  HE'S ONLY GOING TO BE A SPOILER, ENSURING obamahood A SECOND TERM!  God in Heaven, FORBID!

Ree, I write so many so often that I made a list of party leadersip of both parties in both houses of congress, some other members of congress, obama, my congressional delegation, state offices, and chairmen of both parties. I have the list typed out and hanging right next to my computer. It is very convenient for those who I can't e-mail. I use snail mail a lot because many of them won't accept e-mails from outside their districts and I don't mind them knowing where I live. Just an idea if you are interested, it works for me.

Thanks Bob, I now have a set of "snail mail" addresses.  I, too, don't like to send emails, not just because they may not accept them, but they are too easy to delete without reading.  I am hopeful that at least they might read part of a regular mail!

Anyway, I am about bankrupt with the postage, but I'm not giving up.  These political pimps had better get their crap straight tout suite!

Ree, you are certainly welcome for the advice. I have been told that they are more likely to read a snail mail because someone went to the trouble and expense of writing and mailing the letter. A few months ago I sent letters to 81 pastors in Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Kansas to the tune of 61 cents each.  OUCH!!!!!!!!! but it is worth it to me if we can save our country for future generations.I have 12 grandkids with the first great grand on the way so I have quite an interest in the freedom of future generations. And look on the bright side, some overpaid postal worker appreciates the new car you just bought for him/her :--))))

You sound just like I think!!!  I have grandkids as well; two of whom are in the military.  One (Army) will be going to Afghanistan in August.  I just have to pray that the Lord will keep him safe.  The other is in Germany in Air Force and knew one of the two young men who were shot and killed by a terrorist a few months ago!

This is what our political pimps have brought us to with their stupidity and spendthrift thinking.  Well, now the "bank" is dry, but they still think nothing of ruling us like a bunch of hard-run horses.  Frankly, I'm sick and tired of it.

So, I will write letters, and I don't care if I'm not so nice.  I don't think much of them, and for me, it is hard to write sugar when I taste vinegar!

Thank you for your humor and the advice.

Ree, you are welcome. Tell your grandchildreen in the military that I send them a big THANK YOUR FOR YOUR SERVICE. I write letters but don't get too concerned about being necessarily nice. I am relatively respectful but don't mince words either. I talk straight, use facts, and tell it like it is, or like to think I do. I have suggested to several of them, including obama, that they  resign if they can't do what they were elected to do. I am not afraid to get on the case of any of them. I don't threaten, I don't cuss them, but I don't pamper them either. Anyone who has read very many of my letters knows I am a man of many hard hitting words. God has blessed me with a way of being brusk without being hateful.
I pledge to vote against any member of congress, congressional candidate, or presidential candidate that votes to raise the current debt ceiling, or agrees with the concept of raising the current debt ceiling.

Join me in this pledge.
William, I am right there with you.
