This is one that can only be described as coming from the really bad idea department.  You have to ask did someone think this out before coming up with it?

From the Wall Street Journal:

Herman Cain’s campaign will no longer allow videotaping of the Republican presidential candidate’s meetings with newspaper editorial boards.

Campaign spokesman J.D. Gordon says the new edict has nothing to do with the fact that Mr. Cain bumbled for several minutes earlier this week when members of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel editorial board asked him, on video, whether he agrees with President Barack Obama’s handling of events in Libya.

In a TV interview here Thursday, Mr. Cain referred to his ceiling-staring brain freeze in Milwaukee as a “powerful pause.” He added that that his fumbling, during which he first asked the assembled editors whether Mr. Obama had supported the opposition in Libya, then said he’d gotten confused because he had “all this stuff twirling around in my head,” was a media-manufactured problem and that voters didn’t care. His sinking post-gaffe poll numbers this week suggest otherwise.

Mr. Gordon announced the new policy in the Airport Diner in Manchester Thursday, after reporters asked why Mr. Cain refused to be videotaped by C-SPAN during a meeting with the New Hampshire Union Leader editorial staff. The decision against taping ultimately scotched the meeting, which had been scheduled for Thursday morning.

My opinion about Herman Cain and his campaign are a matter of record not only on TPN but through out the media.  That does not need to be rehashed.

The question that does need to be raised over and over again, who the hell is running that campaign and what are they thinking?

Here is some free advice for the Cain campaign.  The video was not the campaign’s fault.  It was Herman’s fault.  He was painfully unprepared and that was obvious.

So what do you do?  Your campaign is dying and hacking off some friendly media (the New Hampshire Union Leader is a conservative paper) is not a good idea.

Here is what you do.  Do not blame the messenger.  Own up to a bad interview, prepare and do a good interview.   Herman Cain is not an idiot.  He has repeatedly proven that he is a bright guy.

If you want to refute the claim that you are not ready for prime time, you do not do it by refusing to let the media video tape you in these interviews with a newspaper’s editorial board.  You go back, bone up, cram and then knock one out of the park.

We are in the middle of a media revolution.  Newspapers are no longer just the printed word, along with some still photos.  They are now multimedia platforms.    They will want these interviews recorded so they can show the excerpts.   The Cain campaign is acting like a student who has failed a test and instead of studying harder is now issuing an edict that says no more tests!

Wrong answer.

Go back, study hard and take the test again.

Oh, and while you are at it, find a better campaign team.  The team you currently have has pretty much destroyed your chances of being President.

Is Herman Cain trying to not win?

Don't think so Debrajoe, but when one came out of our era up the ladder very fast, they generally did not do well under pressure.  His background does not lend itself to high pressure, on the fly thinking.  Most of his business was in the trech thinking (e.g., computer programmers can think all day and only write 20 lines of assembly code correctly - sometimes in less than an hour but 7 went into thinking in preparation).

How many ways can you pour a coke out of a bottle?

How many ways can you make a pizza.  (My wife's way is the best way any day of the week and I tell her that).

Speaking of Godfathers and the Pizza Hut, did you know they suddenly without telling anyone, loaded their pizzas with sugar for better sales.  Us diabetics who could eat pizza got deathly ill on just one pizza, and the second time it happened we quit buying.  Don't tell if you don't ask policy sucks when it comes to high sugar in pizza for a diabetic.

I believe the cain problem is more of not being geared as a presidential candiate coupled with a support team that are geared for pizza delivery vs a Presidential delivery.

Newt's been excoriating the media from day one.

I guess that's different.

yeah, bad move.  i still love him!

What a disaster this is becoming for my beloved Mr. Cain. Gotta say ... You sure called it early on, Judson.

I'm truly sorry TC.  I have been pulling for Herman from the beginning, but lost confidence in how he handled the sexual harrassment incidents.

Agreed that Cain's campaign team is bush league. But he's also got to put in the hours and bone up on the issues. Talking to Hentry Kissinger over tea isn't enough. By now he should have had briefing books on a plethora of subjects -- which are updated daily as events dictate -- and he should have memorized their contents. If he's not willing to earn my vote by working for it, he's not going to get it.

Victoia, Herman is back in First place as of this morning. However, Poor Mr. Gingrich is dropped lmost to last.

Ronisue

Not so sure about that data...  http://www.gallup.com/poll/election.aspx

You are either making your own poll up or are horribly misinformed. Usa Today has Newt up by 3 points over Romeny and 10 over Ron Paul Cain is in 4th. In Iowa It is 23% Newt 20% Romeny. Please get your facts right, or get off the site. Do you really believe any of us believe Newt is in last!

He is allready on record from last month, addressing the Libya issue. People just believe everything people like this disgraceful JUD and the media say

I respect Hermann Cain a lot, but on this one I side with Judson.
