It is Sunday and therefore there must be another, “All of the GOP candidates suck,” blog ending up in my mailbox. This one came from the National Post, written by Conrad Black.
Not all four of the candidates suck, but let’s assume just for the sake of argument they are right, whose fault is it?
George Bush of course.
Actually it is not all Bush’s fault. Much of this blame also lies with the RNC and the Republican Party.
First, not all of the candidates suck. Ron Paul does because he is so crazy. Mitt Romney does because he is an unrepentant liberal. Romney tries to sell us on his “conservatism” with all of the credibility of a used car salesman whose previous job was being a Member of Congress.
All of those bloggers who lament about the four remaining Republican candidates and cry that there isn’t someone better all have the same talking points.
Why isn’t (fill in the blank) running. The names mentioned include Mitch Daniels, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan and even Haley Barbour.
With the possible exception of Marco Rubio and maybe Paul Ryan, if any of these guys were running, we would be making the same complaints. Mitch Daniels has his own personal baggage. Non-conservative Jeb Bush has a bad last name and did I mention he is not a conservative? Chris Christie, the blow hard governor of New Jersey is not a conservative. Haley Barbour, the former Governor of Mississippi who thought it was a bright idea to pardon a bunch of convicted murderers as he went out the door of the Governor’s mansion.
Marco Rubio is a great conservative and a really sharp guy. The only baggage he carries is the issue of whether he qualifies as a natural born citizen. Paul Ryan is a good guy but he has the same problem Michele Bachmann had. No sitting member of the House of Representatives has been elected directly to the White House since 1880.
If you assume the Republican candidates are the bottom of the barrel, why aren’t there any great candidates out there? The simple answer is the Republican Party does not care enough to develop them.
Part of that is George W. Bush’s fault. The reason we had John McCain in 2008 was because the GOP establishment operates on the “it’s his turn” theory. McCain had a decent showing in the primaries in 2000, so it was his turn. The same is now true for Mitt Romney.
Bush did not select a Vice President who could run in eight years. Arguably Obama has not either but there is still time for Joe Biden to be replaced. Of course, given George W. Bush’s decision-making skills, we probably would have ended up with another RINO moderate.
The Republican Party does nothing to generate talent. It let’s people show up either who have a lot of money so they can self fund some of their activities (Mitt Romney) or they hang around long enough to be the next guy in line. (McCain and Romney)
If we conservatives are going to carry the day, we are going to have to be smarter than the RINOs. We must use the Precinct Committeeman Strategy at the local level to take over the Republican Party and then we must create structures to help spot good new conservative talent, develop that talent and help get those conservatives elected.
For almost fifty years there has been an ongoing battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. Either we capture the Republican Party and make it conservative in the next two to four years or we are done. For conservatives, this means asking a lot. It means giving up time and money we use for other things. The question we all have to ask is how serious we are and how badly we want to see a true conservative party in this nation.
If we are not serious, we will live the words of Ronald Reagan and tell our grandchildren about how great America was when it was a powerful, prosperous and free nation.

Permalink Reply by Richard E. Nygaard on February 26, 2012 at 11:14am It is Newt and let him pick Sarah and my friend, they are not the best of the worst. While none of them is perfect, in this crazy insane world that suddenly woke up one day and realized that Freedom means many things to many people and that no one is perfect and no one has no baggage, the door opened to a little more honesty. Of all of them Sarah was the most honest. She is who she says she is, and she brings it all out in the open for everyone to see pimples and all. Newt is not trying to hide anything and both Newt and Sarah are and will continue to call them as they see them. The only thing I fear is that so much criminal skullduggery or should I say skullbuggery by this administration (pun intended) (or should I say I calls it the way I sees it), grows to such levels that it becomes a matter for the people to step in and bring the matter to a close once and for all or, as once predicted is necessary, the blood of patriots needs be spilled again if freedom is to be preserved.
There is no question in my mind that not only this administration but the majority of the National Socialist Democrats in the Senate and House can be brought to kneel in this next election. I believe that they are coming to realize it even more as the dimwitted budget is brought out and the utter absurdity of its construction is made known. They have no intention of slowing down their destruction of our Republic. Once we field our Candidates and they are known, they will double and triple their efforts to buy or otherwise manufacture sufficient votes to take the office once again. We cannot let that happen. The future of our Republic and the rule of law as we and our Founders established it and our very freedoms are the stakes. Our apples have indeed been picked and they are not rotten. Semper Fi.
Richard, thank you, ( or, as GOMER PYLE would say, " Thoank you, thoank you, thoank you, . . . . . . " ) for referring to our great nation as a " REPUBLIC " ! Yes, it is, INDEED, a REPUBLIC !
( I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, & to the REPUBLIC for which it stands, . . . . . . ). It is NOT a " democracy, " as our " elite " news media keep pedaling, . . . .
But, ya know, I don't know whether or not these " educated," & " enlightened " news people even KNOW this simple fact, . . . . . . do " they " KNOW, or, are they just trying to BRAINWASH us into BELIEVING that is is a " democracy " ? . . . . . .
Ya see, just because some GORGEOUS blond news-reporter is paid over 3 MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR, to " report " news, to us, this does NOT mean that " Miss Gorgeous " is SMART, . . . .or, EDUCATED, . . . . or, yes, even ENLIGHTENED ! . . . . . . .
. SO, . . . . fellow Americans, do these " airhead " news reporters not KNOW better, or do they, INDEED, " know " better, & are just trying to BRAINWASH us ? . . . . . . gasp, . . . . . .

Permalink Reply by jaxyankee on February 26, 2012 at 9:17am Personally I think we should give the GOP 9 - 12 months after the 2012 elections and if they haven't turned back towards conservatism then we need to go full steam ahead with a 3rd party. Actually, it will be the 2nd party because the GOP will die a quick death. We somehow need to unite Libertarians with social conservatives behind the Constitution or else we will never make an impact though. That will take cooperation from both camps.
Permalink Reply by Debrajoe Smith-Beatty on February 26, 2012 at 9:23am Kenneth we have given the GOP plenty of time and they are not responding. Let them GO!
Debrajoe, I agree. It's clear the GOP has no interest in being shown a better way. I say cut 'em loose and trim our losses.

You are right. They are a bunch of arrogant bastards that believe we are not smart enough to advise them. WE ARE "SMART ENOUGH" TO FIRE THEM !

We have given them enough time already, maybe too much. Ray
