Do you wonder why your taxes were due yesterday instead of on Monday the 16th? It is because of an obscure holiday, which is officially celebrated in the District of Columbia called Emancipation day.
Emancipation day remembers the day that Abraham Lincoln, a Republican President, signed an order emancipating the slaves in the District of Columbia.
There is some irony in emancipation day pushing the day taxes are due back.
We need a new emancipation day. We need emancipation from big government, high taxes and Barack Obama.
There is something that is called the zero sum game. In a zero sum game, there are a set number of pieces and the only way one player gets more pieces is to take them from another player. Think of a poker game with a fixed number of chips and you have the right idea.
Freedom is a zero sum game. You cannot grow government with out a correlating reduction in freedom. Big government and freedom cannot co-exist. Big government exists to enslave and empower itself. Freedom is the antithesis of this.
You cannot have total freedom at the expense of any government. Then you have anarchy. A small amount of government is needed for a well-ordered liberty. But what we have in America has long surpassed what is needed for well-ordered liberty and it now is to the point where government is consuming freedom like a foul cancer.
How do you say emancipation from high taxes? 9-9-9. We are facing taxageddon on January 1 as half a trillion dollars of new tax hikes will come into effect. This will devastate our economy.
If Obama loses, as I think he even expects to do, taxageddon is going to be his going away present to America. We will need emancipation because when this tax hike hits, we will no longer be citizens, we will be slaves to a massive big government.
Taxageddon needs to be front and center one of the major issues of this election. We need to tell people what this is going to do. We need Mitt Romney to get out and do something he does not how to do. He does not now how to lead, fight or be passionate about anything. We need him to do all three and we need the GOP fully behind stopping taxageddon.
We cannot have any more of the idiotic games that the GOP likes to play. This must be an all hands on deck fight. This must be the kind of fight that Abraham Lincoln led when he signed the Emancipation proclamation.
We need the Republicans to get in the game and help save America.
Then ext April 15, all Americans can celebrate their emancipation from big taxes, big government and Barack Obama!

Permalink Reply by Chas Jones on April 18, 2012 at 12:45pm EVERYONE, GOP candidates and every one who cares at all for our republic, needs to carry a universal message forth in this Fall's elections ... Democrats, ESPECIALLY in the Senate have utterly obstructed the will of the people following the 2010 elections.
ALL twenty-three (23) democrats running for the Senate MUST be held equally responsible for the obstructionist, AND Illegal actions of Harry Reid. Federal LAW requires both chambers of congress to pass a budget. The House has and the Senate has refused to ... for over THREE YEARS!
The GOP presidential nominee MUST include this message in HIS own stump speeches! Hold every democrat senator to account for the Senate's REFUSAL to address the economic, fiscal, and DEBT catastrophe about to destroy our nation!!!

Permalink Reply by wayne thomas inman on April 19, 2012 at 9:43am I think that the 23% fair federal sales tax would be devastating to the economy of this country and flood the federal government with so much money that they would be rolling in it. Just think, all the money spent on the IRS would now stay in the government for them to spend as they see fit. The 47% that pay no taxes would now be taxed along with every dollar made by drug dealers and prostitutes and those saturday yard sales. People will now buy used cars instead of new cars, two hundred dollar sofa's instead of two thousand dollar sofa's, and what if they still tax you for social security, or some day decide they need more money and add another income tax to the sales tax. Remember, when people run for federal office they promise to do whats right, but when they get elected they lose their brain cell's and go completely stupid (example, the Tea Party conseratives elected in 2010). I think the fair tax is a good idea, it's just that the proposed 23% is too much. I think 15% would be better in that the government will be made a lot smaller by a conserative President and Congress, so they would not need as much money in the first place. Then add on the 47% that does not pay taxes and add the drug sales and prostitutes and yard sales and all the cash deals would now be taxed and I don't think that 15% would hurt high dollar sales of quality mechandise and remember that the tax is not paid once a year on the money but every time the money changes hands it's taxed where it be one time or one thousand times, 15% would go to the federal government.
On a 15 trillion dollar economy two trillion two hundred fifty billion would be collected in federal taxes if the money changed hands only one time during the year. At 23% the federal government would collect three trillion four hundred fifty billion on a 15 trillion dollar GDP if the money changed hands only one time. All this comes from the brain of a X- North Carolina Hillbilly and may not be correct, just saying.
