Do you wonder why your taxes were due yesterday instead of on Monday the 16th? It is because of an obscure holiday, which is officially celebrated in the District of Columbia called Emancipation day.
Emancipation day remembers the day that Abraham Lincoln, a Republican President, signed an order emancipating the slaves in the District of Columbia.
There is some irony in emancipation day pushing the day taxes are due back.
We need a new emancipation day. We need emancipation from big government, high taxes and Barack Obama.
There is something that is called the zero sum game. In a zero sum game, there are a set number of pieces and the only way one player gets more pieces is to take them from another player. Think of a poker game with a fixed number of chips and you have the right idea.
Freedom is a zero sum game. You cannot grow government with out a correlating reduction in freedom. Big government and freedom cannot co-exist. Big government exists to enslave and empower itself. Freedom is the antithesis of this.
You cannot have total freedom at the expense of any government. Then you have anarchy. A small amount of government is needed for a well-ordered liberty. But what we have in America has long surpassed what is needed for well-ordered liberty and it now is to the point where government is consuming freedom like a foul cancer.
How do you say emancipation from high taxes? 9-9-9. We are facing taxageddon on January 1 as half a trillion dollars of new tax hikes will come into effect. This will devastate our economy.
If Obama loses, as I think he even expects to do, taxageddon is going to be his going away present to America. We will need emancipation because when this tax hike hits, we will no longer be citizens, we will be slaves to a massive big government.
Taxageddon needs to be front and center one of the major issues of this election. We need to tell people what this is going to do. We need Mitt Romney to get out and do something he does not how to do. He does not now how to lead, fight or be passionate about anything. We need him to do all three and we need the GOP fully behind stopping taxageddon.
We cannot have any more of the idiotic games that the GOP likes to play. This must be an all hands on deck fight. This must be the kind of fight that Abraham Lincoln led when he signed the Emancipation proclamation.
We need the Republicans to get in the game and help save America.
Then ext April 15, all Americans can celebrate their emancipation from big taxes, big government and Barack Obama!

Quote from fairtax.org:
"Is the 23% FairTax higher or lower when compared to the income taxes people pay today?
Most people are paying that much or more today -- much of it is just hidden from view. The income tax bracket most people fall into is 15 percent, and all wage earners pay 7.65 percent in payroll taxes. That’s 23 percent right there, without taking into account the 7.65 percent employer matching! On top of that, you have to add in the business taxes and associated compliance costs passed on to consumers in higher prices.
Effective tax rates vs. stated tax rates
Because the 23-percent FairTax rate of $0.23 on every dollar spent is not imposed on necessities, an individual spending $30,000 pays an effective tax rate of only 15.5 percent, not 23 percent. That same individual will pay 17.3 percent of his or her income to federal taxes under current law."
You're already paying that much, or more in taxes, all of which disappear with the FairTax and are then replaced with the Fairtax's 23% rate.
The only part of 9-9-9 that I'm worried about is...how many people are going to be able to write a check for 9% of their earned income at tax time? Not Many, I'll bet. A $30,000 income means a tax bill of $2,700! Will there be any sort of withholding from paychecks to ensure that people will be able to cover that amount?
Permalink Reply by Thomas Angle on April 19, 2012 at 5:41am I would go for the fair tax if all other taxes and regulations where eliminated. ALSO if any politician that that mentions another tax after that is tarred, feathered and rode our of town on a rail. I mean that literately. If there is not a guaranty like that there will be more and more taxes along with a new sales tax (the fair tax).
Permalink Reply by Doug Nicholson on April 18, 2012 at 1:29pm BTW, part of 9-9-9 includes repeal of the 16th Amendment then, after educating the American people about it, passage of the FairTax.
ABO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Permalink Reply by Marcia Wood on April 18, 2012 at 10:15am Just what Republicans do you have in mind to get into the game, Judson? The Old Republican Establishment aren't interested in getting into the game to save America. It's time to quit depending on the Republicans; we're on our own at this time!

Permalink Reply by Judy Masserano on April 18, 2012 at 1:35pm Senator Tom Coburn (R - OK) was on Dennis Prager's show yesterday. He had no bones talking about GOP 'career politicians' in Congress and how re-election is more important to them than the welfare of our country.
His interview was very straightforward & blunt...to the point that Dennis asked if he sits alone in the Senate dining room. Dr Coburn responded by saying he never goes there. :-)
In my book, Sen Coburn is right up there with Jim DeMint. I e-mailed him telling him so & that many Republicans are disgusted with the GOP and have very little confidence in Mitt Romney.
ERGO, MARCIA, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!
" It's time to quit depending on the Republicans", my friend Marcia?
Sorry, we remain stuck with 'em, as our only closest allies.
Even the U.K. has 3 viable parties. Iraq had about 1024 parties in 2010! No problem, alliances on various issues were formed.
We have evolved (or digressed) to the point of "survival of the fittest." Third parties lose here!
I truly believe that we have no choice but to take over the RNC. No other choice.
Sorry, dear!
Permalink Reply by Thomas Angle on April 18, 2012 at 10:17am I wonder of the black community gave thanks for all the white soldiers that died to free them? Just a thought going through my head after listen in to screw Louie Farrakhan.
Permalink Reply by Katie Kalpin on April 18, 2012 at 11:04am Ohhhh good point! I doubt it, they are not into thanking the whites for anything AT ALL. Not all of them, most of the ones that I know would give thanks to those that died for their freedom, but those that live off the Government and have a chip on their shoulders...HECK NO! They would blame them for not dying sooner or something in that effect.
