Double standards.

 

If you are a conservative, you are used to being on the receiving end of double standards.  While we are used to the fact that even minor issues for conservatives become major news stories and major issues for liberals are buried down the memory hole, the question is why do we as conservatives tolerate this?

 

The double standards abound and it is time for conservatives to start calling the left on those.

 

Why, for example, is it okay to go after Mitt Romney’s religion but it is not okay to go after Jeremiah Wright?   We are already hearing the stories about the “dark side of Mormonism.” 

 

The LDS church has its issues.  Until 1978, blacks could not be priests in the church.  They claim a revelation changed their opinion, as did a previous revelation about plural marriage.  Those are issues in the past.

 

Ed Klein, in his book The Amateur, says that prior to his marriage to Michelle Obama, Barack Obama’s strongest adult relationship was with Jeremiah Wright.  

 

Wright is a racist, a Marxist and an America hater.   Obama’s relationship to Wright was a close one up to four years ago.  Obama sat in his church for twenty years listening to his rants.

 

If Romney’s religion is fair game, why isn’t Obama’s?

 

The left has started targeting Ann Romney.  Ann Romney stayed home and raised five children.  Michelle Obama went to Harvard law, and then went to work for one of the big law firms in Chicago.

 

Yet four years later, her law license was suspended. 

 

The story the Obama camp gives is that she left to work in the non-profit sector, where she did not need her law license so she gave it up. The Illinois Attorney Discipline Committee has her listed as “Court ordered inactive status.”

 

This is as of 1993, when she had only been practicing for four years.  Many lawyers grow tired of working for large law firms and explore options outside of the traditional practice of law.  Yet 99% of them keep their licenses active.

 

Why?  Because getting a law license is hard work.  Most lawyers are very proud of what they have done.  Few voluntarily give all of that up. 

 

No explanation has ever been offered and her attorney discipline records have never been released.  Oh, and did we mention the drive by media has shown no interest in this?

 

While the media goes after Romney and his wealth, amazingly enough they keep ignoring stories about the costs of the Obama vacations.    Michelle Obama’s infamous vacation to Spain in 2010 cost the taxpayers at least half a million dollars.  It probably cost more but details involving Secret Service protection are classified and not made public.  

 

When Mitt Romney goes on vacation, he pays for it himself.  Back when George Bush went on vacation while he was President, he went to his ranch in Crawford, Texas. 

 

Michelle Obama manages to take amazing vacations on the taxpayer dime, including her famous Spain trip and an African safari. 

 

If Ann Romney is fair game why isn’t Michelle Obama?

 

Bain Capital managed to create jobs and wealth.  Barack Obama has managed to destroy both.  Yet the media will only talk about one of those.

 

If Mitt Romney’s private sector experience is fair game, why isn’t Obama’s lack there of and why isn’t his record as a radical leftist fair game?

 

This is the year we must call the media on its double standards.  This is the year that we must force the end of the drive by media.  We must push the conservative new media to the forefront.

 

This is the year we call the left on their double standards.
