You can tell what kind of election it is going to be.  Democrats are running from Barack Obama.  His position has “evolved” so that he now supports gay marriage.  31 States, including some states Obama must win, have, have passed laws outlawing gay marriage.

While the drive by media is quick to rush to Obama’s defense, claiming that a majority of Americans agree with him, the proof is in the actions of the politicians.  If his support of gay marriage were really that popular, politicians would be running towards it, not away from it.

From The Hill:

Senate Democrats facing difficult reelections are breaking with President Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage, a sign the issue is politically dangerous in battleground states.

Sens. Jon Tester (Mont.) and Claire McCaskill (Mo.), the two most vulnerable Democratic senators, have declined to endorse Obama’s call for the legalization of gay marriage.

Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Bob Casey (Pa.) and Bill Nelson (Fla.), Democrats who have easier races but in states that could become more competitive by November, have also backed away from Obama’s stance.

They all represent states with constitutional amendments or laws banning same-sex marriage.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) predicted Thursday the Democratic Party would adopt a pro-gay marriage plank in its platform. While that may happen when delegates to the Democratic National Convention meet September in Charlotte, N.C., the party remains divided.

This is the problem with Democrats.  They will tell their constituents they are against those unpopular platforms and programs, yet when they go back to Washington, they support them.

The simple fact is a majority if Americans view marriage as being between a man and a woman.  They do not want to see marriage turned into some freak show involving three men, five women, two dogs and a Bengal tiger.

We should keep in mind the left’s track record on marriage and the end results.  In 1960, marriage rates and illegitimacy rates among blacks and whites were roughly the same.

Then in the 1960’s, the Party of Treason passed the Great Society social programs and directed them towards minorities.  What was the result?  Today three quarters of all black children are born out of wedlock.  Only 6% of black children will grow up in a family with a mother and a father.  White children have a 50% chance of this happening.

Growing up in a single parent household is the greatest predictor for poverty.

The left has managed to condemn generations to poverty.  But then again, impoverishing people is what liberals do best.

Given their previous track record on almost everything, why should we listen to the left on this issue or any other?

The Democrat party is a 3 ring circus. And the ringmaster is about to have his tent come falling in on him.

Heard on talk radio today that a petition begun by a gay rights group demanding that the Democrat convention be moved out of NC has gathered nearly 10,000 signatures.

Also, from the same source, supposedly Time magazine's next issue will have Odumbo on the cover with the caption, "The First Gay President" ala Clinton being referred to as "the first black President"! And, no, that is not a typo!

That should read Newsweek, not Time. Sorry.

I do not believe Obama is popular as the main stream media wants us to believe.

I agree Deb. The lefties control the media and a lot of the polls. It's all part of the demoralization prong of their KGB Training

Judson, you are omitting a fair amount of logic between the passage of the Great Society (which expanded social welfare programs) and gay marriage (which would expand who can marry).  There is much to dislike in each; the problem is you supply no connection in your post beyond the each one's supporters (each era's liberals).  Are you actually able to give a link more relevant to the demerits of the changes themselves?  Or is there none?

My point is that there is no logical link, and that Judson should research it or complete the logic lacking in his article.  Such logical fallacies as underly Judson's statement must be questioned, to maintain the quality of the discussion.

The logical links are there, Dr. Thomas Sowell reports on these in many of his books.  Star Parker (http://www.urbancure.org/) has an excellent website on this.  Also Dr. Alveda King  (niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) also has a website about how abortion is devastating the black community, see http://www.kingforamerica.com/  and    http://www.priestsforlife.org/africanamerican/  There are many other African Americans that have linked the destruction of the Black community with the liberal policies.

If you would like a snip-it of the logic try a blog I wrote a while ago.:  http://www.teapartynation.com/profiles/blogs/protect-the-liberty-of...

Homosexual unions are not based on the same things as heterosexual ones. In a normal family, the purpose of the family unit is to raise children, and the father to protect the women and children. In a homosexual one, the normal purposes of marriage are turned on their ear. Homosexuals engage in risky behaviors that result in much shorter life spans, and violence. The family is the building block of society. This is just another step to reduce societal norms. Ending societal norms results in breakdowns, leading to chaos and anarchy. Does that clarify what Judson is referring to?

No.  Judson's statement does not follow from that.  The Great Society programs were social welfare; causal links between them and marriage rates among minorities are flimsy.

All are linked by their part in the "progressive" agenda to minimize and eventually eradicate God from our constitutional republic and eliminate all ties between morality and our Creator.

Progressives despise the straitjacket our constitution is to their idea of power, control, and utopia. Progressives declare and demand the supremacy of the State under THEIR control.

Our founders, and founding documents declare We The People are endowed directly by our Creator [God] and that God is the Ultimate Sovereign. God endows mankind with inalienable Rights and individual sovereignty bestowed upon us by God. We form governments to secure and defend our inalienable Rights [among which are Life, Liberty, and Property] and Liberty of conscience.

God, and ALL He has endowed upon us is exactly what progressives despise and deny and seek to eliminate, replacing them with THEIR shackles.

Now be honest Arnold. Did you really not know this?

One causal link, Arnold, is that to qualify for welfare, WIC, ADC, etc., a woman with children usually must be single or divorced, with little or no income. Usually, this means that the father(s) cannot legally live with the mother and her children.
