I've had great success lately by agreeing with Liberals.
How is this possible?
In three recent ideologically mixed social events lately, I've won hands down. The liberals have been left speechless!
How? Most recently at a pool party on the Fourth of July, for example.
Check this out.
I get the floor immediately by loudly announcing:
"While I disagree with President Obama on many things, I must agree with Obama on healthcare, and the approach should certainly be expanded!"
(Liberals look forward to talking points, Conservatives are speechless and aghast)
Continue on, quickly...Keep the floor....
"Obama said we could keep our Healthcare insurance providers and so on.
Further, those with per-existing conditions will as well be covered. And the about 30 million presently uninsured will benefit as well, covered by the increased efficiency of scale.
I think it's great, particularly the per-existing condition part! This should be extended to all insurance!
For example, I don't want to pay for car insurance, really. I want to buy collision insurance, the day after I wreck it! Fire insurance does nothing for me. The day after is when I want to buy it! Just for that day after do I want to buy it, mind you....
And, if I cannot afford it then, I want the same as the 30 million uninsured under Obamacare, I want it for free, like ObamaCare!
Cost is not my problem! Body shops should be like Hospitals, giving free service to indigents! Same for fires: contractors should rebuild my house for free! I didn't plan to have a fire, after all!
The only problem with ObamaCare is it doesn't go nearly far enough!"
It really works, guys! One's ardent support of Obamacare, and extension thereof lasts for the 12 second or so it takes to deliver this fervent and heartfelt message of insurance of everything forever for free. Works like a charm!
When they figure out what you really said and the rebuttals come, remember the following points and press on:
You will always win the argument, by supporting Obamacare in this way!
Believe me, it's a lot of FUN!
Any questions?

Permalink Reply by Edward M. Plitt on July 5, 2012 at 8:40pm Let me tell you about Medicare's war on diabetics. I have been a diabetic since 1985. I have been on Medicare since 2007. I test my blood regularly and purchase blood glucose strips in order to do so. Medicare has for the last 5 years always paid a portion of the cost of these strips the remaining cost is paid for by my supplemental insurance. All of a sudden I was notified by my drug store, that Medicare is refusing to pay for my blood glucose strips. No grounds were given, and in addition they want to audit the personal logs I keep. I have logs which date back to Oct. 1, 2011, but was never aware that I needed to retain them. I was just about to dispose of them when I received a call from my druggist informing me of said audit. I spoke to Medicare and was told that they wanted 6 Mo. worth of logs, certification of my training and notes from my doctor. I told them that I had never heard of such a thing and inquired as to where this policy was written. I was told that there was no written policy. The gentleman I was speaking to hung up on me when I demanded a copy of said policy.
I think I can see how Obama care is going to cut $500 Billion dollars out of Medicare. Medicare will start denying coverage to diabetics unless they have retained information which they were unaware they needed to retain. I might also add that I have refused to turn these logs over to the Gov. as I consider them to be of a personal nature. It is obvious to me that the Gov. is attempting to invade my privacy and that of a great many more people. I did however show the logs to a representative of the drug store and will do the same Monday at my doctor's office, but I will not allow them to be copied and sent to Medicare. Standing up for my right to privacy.
Since Medicare has not produced any guide lines in writing concerning retention of blood glucose logs for diabetics, I contend that this is a ploy by Medicare which will enable the Gov. to deny coverage for strips to diabetics.
Permalink Reply by Michael Petrell on July 5, 2012 at 8:46pm wow Ed as a fellow diabetic who is paying for test strips...damn expensive, I can see where it will be a burden. The training you speak of is also a strong commitment of time in my state. I declined...I don't have 2 hours a week plus driving time for 7 weeks! I also call in my numbers to the training center...they never told me that this information would no longer be MY confidential records.
Permalink Reply by Marie Eastwood on July 5, 2012 at 9:22pm Ed. My husband is also a diabetic. I told him of your incident and he agreed with your strategy. However, he also said that you should contact your Congressional representative or Senator and demand an investigation. This is definitely an invasion of privacy and should not be tolerated. If Obamacare does not get repealed, you can kiss all of the hipaa laws goodbye and your medical privacy will be in the hands of every petty bureaucrat connected with this monstrosity.
Permalink Reply by Edward M. Plitt on July 6, 2012 at 4:19pm Marie, I have done just that. I don't know what good it will do as my Rep. is a Democrat.
Permalink Reply by Marie Eastwood on July 6, 2012 at 4:41pm So is mine but my Senators are Bob Casey and Pat Toomey. Guess who I would contact first? I'll make it easy and say it would not be Bob Casey(D) or Rep. Allyson Swartz(D)
Permalink Reply by Michael Petrell on July 5, 2012 at 8:41pm good analogy...the left always did try to connect the logic to car insurance. I will pass this along as a resident of Marxachusetts, I know all too well how poorly this system works as all our insurance rates are sky high.

Permalink Reply by Kurt Hanson on July 5, 2012 at 8:48pm I still dont understand about Obamacare now allowing pre-existing conditions.
What if a guy has had a lifelong, 4-pack-a-day smoking habit and gets lung cancer and needs a lung transplant. Does that now mean the insurance companies - and by extension we consumers - now have to pony up the $100,000 for the operation?
Permalink Reply by Robert H. Woodman on July 5, 2012 at 8:57pm Yup! And his post-surgical care and therapy as well.
Of course, the way liberals are headed, pot will be legalized and tobacco will be outlawed soon enough.
Permalink Reply by Kurt Hanson on July 5, 2012 at 9:07pm This will absolutely break the bank of everyone in the US. And what about all the morbidly obese people in America and all the health complications that come with being grossly overweight. We gotta pay for that, too?
People will no longer have any incentive to take care of themselves and protect their health. They'll just think, "No matter what I do to my body Obamacare will pick up the tab."
Permalink Reply by USARogue on July 6, 2012 at 1:47am Maybe. If not they can always use the Liverpool Care Pathway. Look it up, very interesting.
Liverpool Care Pathway for the dying patient?
Obama went way beyond that, years ago. Take a pill!
Get rid of those troublesome old farts.
Next question?
