Wisconsin has always been regarded as a solidly blue state. Now, for the left, could the unthinkable be happening? Could Wisconsin be in play? Is it possible that Wisconsin could even go red?
From Newsmax:
Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker held a narrow lead over Democratic challenger Tom Barrett in the first poll released publicly since a Democratic primary on Tuesday chose Barrett to face the embattled governor in a recall election.
The poll taken on Wednesday showed that 50 percent of likely voters surveyed would choose Walker and 45 percent would pick Milwaukee Mayor Barrett, according to a Rasmussen Reports telephone survey released on Thursday.
Wisconsin Democrats on Tuesday nominated Barrett to face Walker in the June 5 recall vote, which also has been seen as a test of labor union strength in a potential battleground state for the U.S. presidential election in November.
Walker infuriated Democrats and labor organizations weeks after taking office in 2011 by driving a measure through the Republican-led legislature to curb the collective bargaining powers of public-sector unions.
The law required many employees to pay part of their health insurance and pensions, capped wage increases to inflation and required unions to hold member votes yearly to stay certified.
To understand the Union and far left wing anger against Scott Walker you have to understand what he and the Republican controlled legislature did. They broke the back of the Unions. They stripped away the tools the Unions used to siphon millions of tax dollars into their coffers. The Unions then used that money to elect legislators and governors who would approve even more generous Union packages and fund left wing causes.
Walker and the Republicans stopped this. Amazingly enough, upon enactment of the Walker “Education Repair bill,” counties and school boards immediately saved millions of dollars. They were able to hire new teachers and not raise taxes. Everyone was happy except for the unions and the left wing causes they funded.
Now, there is the real possibility that their recall will backfired and Scott Walker will survive.
If he does, the Unions and the left may well see their power finally broken. Wisconsin may not go the way of Greece and Wisconsin may become a red state.
Wouldn’t that be amazing?
