There are some amazing conservatives out there who need our support in this upcoming election. One of them hales from the home of Elvis and the best Barbeque in the world.
Who is she?
Her name is Charlotte Bergmann and is a conservative you need to know about.
The 9th Congressional District in Tennessee covers the far southwestern corner of the State. In other words, Memphis.
Davy Crockett and future President James K. Polk once held this seat. Since 1974, the seat has been firmly in the hands of the Democrats. In fact, the Tennessee Republican Party has pretty much written off the seat, which is unfortunate because Charlotte is an amazing candidate who can win that seat for the GOP.
She is a Tea Party conservative. She was at the First National Tea Party Convention in Nashville in 2010. That year, she ran against the current Congressman Steve Cohen.
You’ve heard of Cohen. He’s a jerk who constantly says all kinds of outrageous things about the Tea Party movement. Cohen accused the Tea Party in 2010 of marching around without the hoods and robes.
The left has been gunning for Charlotte because they know the threat she poses to a liberal seat in Congress. Earlier this year, a nut job liberal local radio announcer went after her and made national headlines.
From Fox News (2/3/12):
In a profanity-laced tirade, a Memphis DJ last week used an on-air interview to berate a local Republican congressional candidate -- calling her a "token negro" who is doing the bidding of "white folk."
DJ Thaddeus Matthews called Charlotte Bergmann, who is black, "stupid." He referred to her as a "curly-haired nigga." When she walked out of the interview, he refused to shake her hand, saying he didn't want to get her "whiteness" on him.
The outrage? The fury? In Memphis, you can hear the crickets.
Bergmann told FoxNews.com that, while the web video of the interview has gotten a lot of attention on blogs, local media are largely ignoring it. She said she hasn't gotten any calls from politicians about it. "No organization has spoken out," Bergmann said.
"The anger has been expressed throughout the nation, but not in my local ... area," she said.
As for her treatment on air, which she described as "racist" and abusive, she said it stems from the notion that black politicians should uniformly be Democrats.
Charlotte needs your help. She is running in the primary, which is set for August 2. She has a well-funded opponent who ran in 2010 in the 8th Congressional District and lost in the primary.
Charlotte opposes Obamacare, supports the 2nd Amendment, thinks America should be energy independent and believes we should have a very strong military.
What is wrong with that?
The answer is, not a thing!
Help Charlotte win in August. Go to her website here and see what you can do to help Charlotte Bergmann.
She is a conservative you need to know about.
Amazing how the blacks in Memphis will support a WHITE liberal, but dump on a Black Conservative. But, maybe that can change.
Jerry...that CAN change!
I had so many come up to me after the last election to say, "I would have voted for you if I'd known you were running." Our team was able to raise almost a quarter of a million dollars, but only at the END of early voting.
Our team wanted to get a head start during this 2012 election, but so many of the establishment Republicans have been so demoralized by Cohen and the MSM that they are self-perpetuating, defeat!
They would love for me to win…but, they do not have the grit to fight...they are not Tea Partyers!
I have seen Ms. Bergman and she is AMAZING! Intelligent, articulate and a class act! She is a real credit to the Conservative cause. She wants people to be judged on their character, not the color of their skin! Remember, Wisconsin used to be considered solid Democrat and that just turned so maybe there is hope! Do what you can to support her, even if it's only an email!
I have a soft spot in my heart for Memphis -- I was born there ... about a jillion years ago! :) I hope Ms. Bergman wins her race. I sent just $25 but if all 40,000+ of us did that it would be over $10,000!
Thanks for the article, Judson.
Thanks, Joe! :) Does it count for anything that my heart was in the right place? LOL
40,000 times $25 is $1,000,000. Lets do it!
Strange...The Democratic Party Headquarters was scouting around MY website on yesterday, a few hours later, I had an interview with the Washington chief political reporter. Now, the Commercial Appeal (local newspaper) is announcing Michele Obama has the nerves to come into our back yards for a fundraiser on June 28 at the Memphis Cook Convention Center.
Please help us take our district back! Please donate at http://contribute.new9th.com
So, why, does the Democratic Party all of a sudden think this district is worth fighting for? Are they threatened? I say they are...and with your help, we can snatch VICTORY from the jaws of defeat...and fight back! Let's stamp liberalism out where ever it raises its ugly head! No more cowering!
God bless you and God bless the U.S.A!
Well done, Russ. Thanks for the mathematical precision (at least Carol put the word "over" before the $10,000, so she's safe).
JC, Thank you for being kind. :)
While as a Memphian I can attest to the fact that not only is Steve Cohen a "jerk" but is the personification of evil, I must say that Charlotte Bergmann is not someone to hang much hope on. I campaigned for her last time around - MANY hours, but as one begins to see her lack of depth of intellect and inability to fend-off the brazen racist attacks of a bigoted fraud like Thaddeus DJ you have to face the fact. She is weak.
If you are going to hold a high standard, as you have with Mitt (and I agree) you need to vet people like Charlotte a bit better.
Cohen will win again here hands down because he has mastered the art of exploitation of indentured welfare slaves. The only thing that will ever dethrone him is an articulate communicator who can not only turn the tripe of the Thaddeus's of the world back on themselves but one who can educate the simple-minded of their servitude whilst campaigning.
In other words, we need a silver bullet filled with revealing informative accuracy but presented in the street jargon of a rapper. Someone who can convey to the populous that it's time to "Quit Whor'in for Cohen"!
As the GOP Congressional candidate for TN 9 who can defeat Steve Cohen, I'm in good company. Former President George W. Bush was accused of not being smart. I miss him, now. We elected an intellect who could speak very smoothly, and look where it has gotten us! The intellect has almost destroyed our country.
It took strength of resolve to get Thaddeus Matthews off the air. Republicans had shied away from him in the past…thus, he unrelentlessly assaulted politicians, pastors and civilians, alike. They were smart…but, were unable to defeat him. He is off the air as a result of his encounter with me. In the bible, Goliath would have never been slain with a sword, David used a weapon he was comfortable with and got the job done.
I exercised strength of resolve and grace, and I got the job done. I will get the job done in Washington, D.C. to push my agenda of prosperity, liberty and reconciliation for my district and this nation. I will get results….for only results count. Check me out at http://new9th.com
I am so thankful for Americans who refuse to accept the "obvious" and continue to put forth the effort for the "miraculous." Bottom line is that if someone is not able to "run" themselves, on their own choices of message/promises/plans, they should choose the person most closely aligned with their preferences and provide some support.
One thing the Tea Party has proven is that, whereas we may lose some battles, we win some amazing ones...and the battle on our homeland turf is as real for "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" as it is abroad through the efforts of our soldiers.
Let all of US be challenged to find our place of service to keep America the "land of the free and the home of the brave."
There is no "cookie-cutter" version for the message of opportunity and freedom. I welcome Charlotte Bergmann's version, respect the audience (whatever size) it will reach, and will support her. We must all do more, if we truly want to make a difference...
