There are some amazing conservatives out there who need our support in this upcoming election. One of them hales from the home of Elvis and the best Barbeque in the world.
Who is she?
Her name is Charlotte Bergmann and is a conservative you need to know about.
The 9th Congressional District in Tennessee covers the far southwestern corner of the State. In other words, Memphis.
Davy Crockett and future President James K. Polk once held this seat. Since 1974, the seat has been firmly in the hands of the Democrats. In fact, the Tennessee Republican Party has pretty much written off the seat, which is unfortunate because Charlotte is an amazing candidate who can win that seat for the GOP.
She is a Tea Party conservative. She was at the First National Tea Party Convention in Nashville in 2010. That year, she ran against the current Congressman Steve Cohen.
You’ve heard of Cohen. He’s a jerk who constantly says all kinds of outrageous things about the Tea Party movement. Cohen accused the Tea Party in 2010 of marching around without the hoods and robes.
The left has been gunning for Charlotte because they know the threat she poses to a liberal seat in Congress. Earlier this year, a nut job liberal local radio announcer went after her and made national headlines.
From Fox News (2/3/12):
In a profanity-laced tirade, a Memphis DJ last week used an on-air interview to berate a local Republican congressional candidate -- calling her a "token negro" who is doing the bidding of "white folk."
DJ Thaddeus Matthews called Charlotte Bergmann, who is black, "stupid." He referred to her as a "curly-haired nigga." When she walked out of the interview, he refused to shake her hand, saying he didn't want to get her "whiteness" on him.
The outrage? The fury? In Memphis, you can hear the crickets.
Bergmann told FoxNews.com that, while the web video of the interview has gotten a lot of attention on blogs, local media are largely ignoring it. She said she hasn't gotten any calls from politicians about it. "No organization has spoken out," Bergmann said.
"The anger has been expressed throughout the nation, but not in my local ... area," she said.
As for her treatment on air, which she described as "racist" and abusive, she said it stems from the notion that black politicians should uniformly be Democrats.
Charlotte needs your help. She is running in the primary, which is set for August 2. She has a well-funded opponent who ran in 2010 in the 8th Congressional District and lost in the primary.
Charlotte opposes Obamacare, supports the 2nd Amendment, thinks America should be energy independent and believes we should have a very strong military.
What is wrong with that?
The answer is, not a thing!
Help Charlotte win in August. Go to her website here and see what you can do to help Charlotte Bergmann.
She is a conservative you need to know about.

Permalink Reply by Memphis Mama on June 7, 2012 at 3:06pm I doubt whether the poster above spent any time at all working with Charlotte Bergmann because if he had he would know that this is one though, smart, and determined woman who would be able to beat Cohen in the general election.
Memphis Man would have known that the youtube video of the encounter with thaddeus DJ was posted and highly edited by thaddeus DJ himself. DJ cut a 45min interview down to 7 minutes editing out all of Charlotte Bergman's comments leaving his racist rants in tact. If you listen to the whole interview, you would see that she handled herself quite nicely and was willing to put up with his blustering in order to put her message out to an audience that had never had the opportunity to hear an alternative opinion. So you can also add bravery to her other accolades. Don't give up on TN9.. Charlotte got an excellent chance and needs your support.

Do you not know what Charlotte has done already? She and many of our team have gone into the inner city and attended little noticed events, community meetings, even many church services wearing their Bergman buttons only and not intruding themselves into the sanctity of religious services, simply worshiping and then conversing with people after services. Do you have any idea what that means to those without voices, or to those who are sick of the slick "street jargon" you talk about? That is exactly what Cohen and his ilk use and Charlotte choses not to insult the people of a ravaged community with more of the same. It can be called low key. I regard it as respectful.
The "depth of intellect" required for such dedication is far beyond the simple campaign formula you suggest is neccessary to "fend off" thugs like Matthews. The "fire in her belly" is often missed if you have not been present at some of these events. Charlotte may not go rampaging around with a bullhorn, and the media has all but ignored most of these appearances, but she does speak passionately--all the time--about the fight for liberty, for the importance of people in EVERY section of this district to realize that losing that liberty means servitude, loss of any hope of prosperity and a dismal prospect for ALL people of this district. PERIOD. She is the last best and truest hope for TN District 9. And she's a fighter like I've never seen. Walk in our shoes, see what we see, and you might get a new perspective on things. We need all the support we can get to back her up.

You do not know the power of the TEA Party movement! She can win with us behind her!!
Permalink Reply by Memphis Man on June 8, 2012 at 5:10pm OK OK - Just cool down. I'm just sighting the facts..... AS a Tea Party person.
Charlotte is just not a strong candidate. Ho'in Cohen has this city of welfare slaves wrapped around his little finger and that includes all the mid-town hipsters who think that he's so wonderful for doling-out his bacon bits to each and every cause with enough constituent potential he can find.
Thank goodness Bergmann's campaign took down that absurd billboard that said "MLK was a Repubulican, Charlotte is a Republican"! If there is no more sense within her ranks than to put money into that kind of ploy then she has not only a deficient set of skills herself but her campaign might as well quit paying rent for their headquarters.
Sure, i'll vote for her, but only because I'll be in the booth anyway.
If the Tea Party wants to defeat Ho'in Cohen, we need to form an educational task force to inform his victims of the facts of life AND to enlighten the Republican party that substance is more important than form!
Charlotte is a nice person, but we don't need a nice person trying to beat Beelzebub - we need a bare knuckled Socrates.
Permalink Reply by Mitchell E. Counts on June 7, 2012 at 10:39am I just donated to Charlotte's campaign as well. All conservatives need to support our conservative black sisters and brothers running for office. If the African-American community could be rallied to our side, the Democratic Party would be TOAST for years to come.

Permalink Reply by JC Patriot on June 8, 2012 at 5:30pm I am glad that while you're in the voting booth that you will choose Charlotte over Cohen. That is a good example of using the decision-making process -- to weigh the positives and negatives of a choice to be made, and then to follow your instincts in making a decision.
Now, if only you had used that same decision-making process when deciding to post your backhanded endorsement, slapping her down as being a weak candidate. To criticize a billboard that is only one small attempt to counter the democratic/liberal lies about the history of republicans and democrats toward the black population is also quite suspect. And this topic contains three of only four posts for you since joining so long ago. Do you think this is a good example of your tea-party "passion?" Your claim to be a true tea-partier is bulls***, and we know it. Notice that this is an attack on the claim, not on the individual, just in case the usual troll response is forming in your mind.
To help with the accuracy of history, here is a link with other facts Charlotte should post on billboards everywhere:

Permalink Reply by Memphis Mama on June 8, 2012 at 5:38pm Socrates isn't running...Charlotte is, and since you know so much, why aren't you running? Why haven't you put yourself out there with your real name and let the liberal media and their ilk trash you and call you names like they do most conservative women. And, if that isn't hard enough, why don't you let people who should be supporting you in your home district come on a Tea Party website and trash you to the world. Do you plan to form your educational task force in the next 30 days to enlighten the Tea Party on what they should do because that is when the first day of the primary early voting starts? If you say you are going to vote for Charlotte then help her win. She needs help, NOW, not a philosophical discussion. And yes, a strong, moral Christian woman can beat Beelzebub any day of the week!
Thank you Tea Party Nation for any support you can give. Go to her website and make a donation, she is a worthy candidate that will make us proud in Washington. A real TEA Party member.
Permalink Reply by Memphis Man on June 8, 2012 at 6:02pm Yes, Mama. But don't worry so much about me turning anyone against her.
We are all preaching to the choir here anyway. Not a single word I am typing or you are posting will be read by anyone who isn't already going to vote for Charlotte! We're not on CNN. This is a Tea Party blog.
The point I am trying to make is that something MUCH more effective is needed to beat Mr. Ho'in!!! Bergmann was so soundly trounced in the last election the Republicans are only showing a complete ineptitude by re-running her. NONE of this has to do with her integrity, personality, or anything. It has to do with being willing to do what is needed in a VERY important Congressional District election. The Republican Party of Shelby County is absolutely brain dead!!! Its a club of the pathetically lost..
Sorry to bring the bad news early, We are stuck with this piece of filth until there IS a better campaign mounted or he meets his final breath.
Permalink Reply by Memphis Mama on June 8, 2012 at 6:34pm But don't you realize that the TN9 has been redistricted to include a lot more of the conservative northern and western part of the county who elected a Republican congressman two years ago. She has a lot of conservative support in those areas and I promise you they are hopping mad to find out that after finally voting in a republican in 2010 after 30 years of a democratic congressman , they have been given the most liberal member of the entire congress as their representative. Seriously, don't give up on her she has a real chance in the general. She did surprisingly well in the general last election against him and with redistricting, he is vulnerable for the first time, ever.
Permalink Reply by Memphis Man on June 8, 2012 at 7:55pm Now THAT is encouraging!!! Thanks for bearing with me. I think my disdain for Ho'in can spill over into frustrations with anything that does not offset the prospect of him being back in office.
GO Charlotte! :-)
Permalink Reply by Bergmann for Congress on June 9, 2012 at 7:00am Thank you for your support...we will continue to fight to ensure that Cohen does not continue his destruction on our community.
