It is time for us to get really mad.  We are going into the August recess.  Congressmen and some Senators will be coming home to ask the voters to give them their jobs back.

Why should we be angry with those we send to Washington to represent us?

Our nation is speeding like a run away train towards a fiscal cliff and our leaders are too busy having drinks in the club car to worry about the rapidly approaching train wreck.

A couple of days ago, Harry Reid the chief eunuch of the Senate and John Boehner, whose famous freshly laundered white flag of surrender is the new logo for the 112th Congress, announced they had agreed to a continuing resolution to keep funding the government for another six months.  This would move the tough issues beyond the election and would make no major changes in government.

Obamacare will be funded.  We will have another half trillion in debt.  We will continue to waste money at an alarming rate.

Just yesterday, the Daily Caller reported on emails from the failed green energy company Solyndra where they called the Obama Regime, the Bank of Washington.  They cost the people of America about half a billion dollars.

The IRS is losing billions every year in fraudulent refunds.  According to CNBC, the IRS is losing $21 billion a year in fraudulent tax refunds.  One scammer is so brazen that they do not even bother to change the address.  2,137 refunds were sent to the same address.

Most private companies make simple software changes to prevent scams like this.  Our government does not care.  After all, they can either borrow more money from the Chinese or raise taxes.

Amtrak in the last decade lost almost a billion dollars on cheeseburgers and sodas.  Again, why do they have to worry about it?  All the government needs to do is borrow more money from the Chinese or raise taxes.

Our friends over at the Washington Guardian have awarded their first “Golden Hammer” award to the Department of Veterans Affairs by giving money away to unqualified recipients instead of to the disabled veterans they money was intended to help.

From the Guardian:

The Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Program – a government-wide program - is designed to give federal contracts to those injured in the line of duty.  Before receiving any money, the VA is supposed to run a series of checks to make sure applicants actually are businesses owned by disabled veterans.

But the department hasn’t been running those checks, according to an investigative report by the Government Accountability Office, the auditing arm of Congress. A full 60 percent of businesses weren’t verified using rigorous guidelines implemented in 2010 before their applications were put in for contracts.  Of those, the VA handed out $90 million in contracts to 134 unverified businesses between November 30, 2011 and April 1, 2012, the investigators found.

The findings are likely to reverberate in an election year in which both major political party presidential candidates are courting veterans. President Barack Obama has made several recent high-profile efforts to highlight his work in finding jobs for veterans returning from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

It’s not the first time the program has been criticized. A report last year by the VA’s inspector general found that verification of businesses “in many cases was insufficient to establish control and ownership … [and] in effect allowed businesses to self-certify as a veteran-owned or service-disabled veteran-owned small business with little supporting documentation.”

The inspector general report estimated the VA would hand out a whopping $2.5 billion to fraudulent companies over the next five years unless a stricter screening process was implemented.

What’s another $2.5 billion?  All the government needs to do is borrow more money from the Chinese or raise taxes!

On August 1, Jeffrey Zients, the Acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget and certifiable member of the Party of Treason, told Congressmen on the House Armed Services Committee that the reason there would be a massive cut in defense in the process known as Budget Sequestration was because the Republicans refused to make the top 2% pay their fair share of taxes.

Why should we be confronting our Congressmen this August?

Because the government is wasting billions of dollars every year and very few people want to do anything about it.

We are going to see our nation’s defense slashed to the point of being ineffective and unable to meet our national commitments, while billions of dollars in waste and fraud are simply ignored as an inconvenient annoyance.

There are some good Congressmen out there who are standing their ground and trying to do good things.  Jeff Landry from Louisiana is one.  So is Sandy Adams from Florida.  Another is Joe Walsh from Illinois.

Unfortunately too many Congressmen are not standing up and trying to save this country.  Some are members of the Party of Treason who either do not care or in the case of some of them, such as Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank, they actually want to see America’s collapse as a world super power.   Even some of the good Republican Congressmen are not doing this.

This August, as Congressmen and Senators come back home, we all need to be out there confronting them.  We need to know why they are not cutting spending.

We are running trillion dollar deficits every year.  Forget the policy debates about which programs are worthwhile, does anyone think that we should be spending money on waste and fraud?

These are the questions we need to be asking our Congressmen and Senators.  We need to confront them this month and demand action before it is too late.

Will they listen?  Not really, just more empty promises to get re-elected, and then its back to business as usual. Way too many congressmen and women excel at the DC game called  "Screw the Taxpayer".

No David they won't listen. The only way to get anything done is to Vote In Your State Primaries. Let's not let them have their jobs back.

Find out when your state votes. It will determine which conservatives will go up against the left's nominee in November.

They are the accomplices. Absolutely no guts. They should stand up EVERY day and state the case for the American people. Caucus on the steps of the Capital then go into the sessions!

I think they are afraid of getting caught for past indiscretions, but it will come out!

I agree.

That's like here in Arizona where Jeff Flake, congressman, is running for Jon Kyl's senate seat.  Flake is supported by the establishment as a "conservative" while at the same time publicly supporting John McCain's condemnation of Michele Bachmann!  Forget it.  Flake's the RINO, not Cardon.  I'm voting for Wil Cardon, a successful businessman running for that seat.

Jeff, you're right on.  I'm an Arizonan and was so happy when ANYONE with stamina stood up against the mini McCain RINO - Jeff Flake.

Can you believe Ann Coulter mentioned Jon Kyl and Vice President in the same sentence and did so with a straight face?

Each state has it's own can of worms and doesn't really know what other states are dealing with.  Who'd have thought Wisconsin would erupt like it did?

Well, words are cheap and so is my time.

Maybe if we all tarred and feathered one the rest would learn a lesson.

They'd sic the EPA on you for that one...

Yeah.

We'll tar and feather them too!!

I'll man the hot tea pot to pour down their throat.

Tar and feathering requires a 4 man crew.

One tar man.

One feather man.

One hot tea man.

At least one to five men to beat him with sticks and punch and kick him to run him out of town.

That's IF he's able too.

Tar and feather folks are equal opportunity rebels.

I say we storm the U.N.and toss the tyrants out of the higher windows.

After the tar and feather treatment of course.

The silent majority is SICK of being RULED,

Reclaim our sovereignty

YES,  Mr.  Phil,  just  like  we  tried,  during   the  WAR  BETWEEN  THE  STATES,  from 1862  to  1865,  which,  by  the  way,  was  NOT  a  " civil "  war !

OKAY,  Mr.  Angle,  but,  who  do  we  " tar  &  feather "  FIRST ? . . . . . .   HARRY  REID ? . . . . NANCY  PELOSI ? . . . . . .  I  don'  think  we  could  get  ANY  tar  hot  enough  for  THOSE  pond - scums, . . . .

This really should be a discussion of just what is the legitimate, constitutional role of the federal government versus what  the role of the individual states is. I believe much of this problem boils down to many of the representatives being simply ignorant of what is going on at the federal level.

That may seems unlikely to political junkies like myself, but how else can one explain the seeming total ignorance of a supposedly strong conservative Steve King of Iowa being totally uninformed of the strong case that's been made for the ineligibility of Barack Obama to serve as President?

His ignorance or willfully ignoring the facts exposed by Sheriff Arpaio's Cold Case Posse is astonishing and maddening. Congressman King said he had looked into the issue and decided there wasn't time before the election to do any investigation of Obama. He went on to say he had checked microfiche records and found newspaper announcements of Obama's birth in Hawaii. He implied those were sufficient to verify that Obama was born in the U.S.

I could go on, but readers here already know the facts about Obama. The veracity of the facts aren't the problem, but the ignorance of them by our elected officials surely is.
