What is the “Circle of Protection?”  It sounds like something that comes out of a game of “Dungeons and Dragons” or an episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”   Actually it is something much worse than a rerun of an old TV series.

The circle of protection is something that was created by some “faith leaders.”  Some are from Christian groups.  Others include alleged Christian Jim Wallis.  Wallis has spent the last forty plus years trying to convince Christians that socialism really is a Christian concept, despite the fact that socialism has killed tens of millions of Christians in the last century.  For him, that is an inconvenient truth and because of that, legally the word alleged must precede the use of the words Jim Wallis and Christian.

The Circle of Protection idea is that federal welfare programs should be exempt from the budget cuts that are coming to Washington. You can tell a liberal Democrat wrote the document as their talking points are all in it, such as “shared sacrifice.”

Unfortunately, as you read the document, while lip service is given to protecting and helping the poor, after the first sentence, the document is all about protecting programs.

The liberal media goes ga-ga over these religious leaders.  Of course, they also want ministers who object to abortion and gay marriage ostracized, but that is a separate story.  The left generally hates religion, unless the religion prostrates itself and worships at the altar of socialism.  Unfortunately these “leaders” do.

It is a dogma of the Christian religion, no matter which denomination or variation, that you help the poor.  Matthew 25:35 says, “For I was hungry and you gave me meat.  I was thirsty and you gave me drink.  I was a stranger and you took me in.”

Perhaps this is just a faulty translation, but there is no mention of the government there at all.

Unfortunately, for most of these “religious leaders” they are much more interested in supporting socialism than the poor.  Why?  It is simple, the government programs they are so interested in resisting being cut, do not work.

The War on Poverty was launched in 1965.  It has been an abject failure, except in one area.  The only thing the war on poverty has done is grow poverty and grow government.  Okay, maybe those are the two areas it has succeeded.

What did Americans do before the welfare state was created?   What did Americans do the last time a far left Democrat President drove this country into a depression?  They helped each other.  Family members helped family members.  Neighbors helped neighbors. Churches actually fed the poor and helped them.

The government programs these “Faith leaders” want do nothing to end poverty.  Their main goal is to perpetuate themselves and grow.  If poverty were suddenly ended tomorrow, what would they do?  How would they justify themselves?

Do you want to see the end of poverty?  Jesus said, “The poor you will always have with you.”   The simple fact is a certain number of people in any society are going to be poor.   Poverty can be attributed to bad choices, and unfortunately, some are born into a bad situation.  However, there is one simple law of economics.  When you subsidize anything, you get more of it.  We subsidized poverty; therefore we get more of it.

The welfare state does not care for the poor.  It creates poverty and does its best to keep those who are poor ensnared in poverty and a poverty mindset.

Prior to the welfare state, people did not make poverty a career.  Some were stuck in it due to bad choices, such as substance abuse. The modern welfare state destroys the incentive to work.

These “faith leaders”, if they had any integrity, would be out denouncing the welfare state and what it has done to now several generations of Americans.   If these “faith leaders” were serious, they would not be concerned about government programs.  If these “faith leaders” were serious, they would have their own programs to assist the poor that do not rely on tax dollars.

Amazingly enough, few if any of those “faith leaders” have those programs.  Few if any of them spend anytime working with the poor. They instead spend their time in their nice air-conditioned offices, drawing their nice salaries, driving their very new cars.

When they get out and start really doing something with the poor, perhaps I’ll listen to them.  When they get out and use their own money to help the poor and not simply lobby for the endless expansion of the welfare state, perhaps I’ll listen to them.  Of course, if they got out there, in the real world, doing real charity work without government assistance, they might have an epiphany.

In the meantime, there is another bible verse that comes to mind with these “faith leaders” and their demands that the welfare state, which has been a total failure and keeps people in poverty, be exempted from any budget cuts.

Matthew 7:16.  By their deeds you shall know them.

It is clear that this man's presence in the good President's inner-circle is a slap in the face to all who value their freedoms! Wallis & his followers are bent on Obama's quest to redo America & must be stopped before any more damage is done.I personally find it interesting that more Christians not rising up against him becoming Obama's "spiritual consultant" which is no better than refering to a "kosher pig"as being a reality.Mr.Wallis is what we sometimes refer to as a "red letter  christian",which I might add is NO honor in my book. When one studies his followers,it becomes very clear who he "ministers" to,and his shallow agenda! You are correct in your assumption that the "Left" is included in his list if avid admirers. They too will reap the whirlwind!

Laus deo"

Myke that's true and the biggesr coverup those plastic welfare credit cards. But Congress won't touch it for obvious reasons.
It is NOT the government's place to funnel "The Peoples Money" towards its pet projects! We are instructed in the Bible to lend OUR efforts to help the needy, the poor, and the under-priviledged as our resources are able. We have been taught a very cruel lesson over the many years America has existed, and this lesson is government does not do anything well,or efficient if left to its own devise's! Assisting the less-fortunate if no different as our history has shown, and it gets worse with each passing day that government is involved. Many in the business of running our many churches and spreading God's Word have long advocated the need for the general public and the churches to get more involved in this nobel service, and get the government's sticky fingers out of the pie! Speaking for myself only,I feel that when there are people in this precious Republic in need of the bare necessities of life, the churches have failed to do their jobs! I was taught from a very young age that we as a nation should take care of our own first, like dropping a pebble into the water. The ripples start in the beginning and move outwards growing larger as they flow, and our aid should be viewed in no different light. There are many in society who will disagree with my thoughts on this subject, but in my heart and mind,I know I'm correct. As a young man I did not follow my teachings, but grew into them over a period of hard times. Most of our curret problems can also be attributed to the many churches lack of involvement, and should have this pointed out to their leaders on a continual basis by their members! I'm not too popular among some circles, but will always hold my ground on these principals for they come from MY Master, not men! Benjamin Franklin had it correct when suggested that society should make those in poverty feel unconfortable in their situation so as to better themselves by their own merits! Such is not the case today and lends itself to even more "Victim's" being enrolled in the many government give-away programs we are paying for with our hard-earned dollars. This is NOT the American way or God's way,and Washington needs to finally "Butt Out".

The Federal Reserve applied the concept of Ciricle of Protection in 2008 to its in group to the tune of $16 Trillion.

And that's why Congress bends over and okays the Fed's actions. Read about it before the information fades.

I believe that Matthew 25:35 says' you gave me food to eat',,,not' meat',,,awww so what.   Matthew 7: 16  by my Irish in-laws also says & God will hurt their ankles ,,,so we will know them by their Limps" haha

Have any of you good folks ever seen a Bactrian(?) camel??? It is from Mongolian & it is the TWO hump variety of camel. Just picture ,,if you will,,the MOST beautiful Thorughbred horse in the USA,,,OK??     NOW,,,picture that SAME horse made up & designed by a Democratic Liberal committee in DC???  I truly believe it will come out like the mean, ugly smelly, and disfunctional Camel,,,designed & perpetually driven by a bureaucracy,,,over fed & pooly managed,,,& will never look like the horse it was intended to be.

This is what happens when Career Politicians & their Lobbyists run,,or RUIN,, the USA.

I like the Irish expression.
