Christians in Egypt are suffering from the inevitable persecution from the various Islamic factions in Egypt that are possed to take power. Most notable is the Muslim Brotherhood who now finds itself at odds with the ruling Military Council.
The Military is struggling to maintain some control. They are not having much success and the tension between the military and the political parties are escalating. Expect civil war in Egypt in the near term. Christian will certainly be caught in the crossfire and are at great risk for mass murder.
News briefs for your reference below.
"Egypt's Coptic church blasted authorities Monday for allowing repeated attacks on Christians with impunity as the death toll from a night of rioting rose to 26, most of them Christians who were trying to stage a peaceful protest in Cairo over an attack on a church. The clashes Sunday night raged over a large section of downtown Cairo and drew in Christians, Muslims and security forces.
They began when about 1,000 Christian protesters tried to stage a peaceful sit-in outside the state television building along the Nile in downtown Cairo. The protesters said they were attacked by "thugs" with sticks and the violence then spiraled out of control after a speeding military vehicle jumped up onto a sidewalk and rammed into some of the Christians.
In recent weeks, riots have broken out at two churches in southern Egypt, prompted by Muslim crowds angry over church construction. One riot broke out near the city of Aswan, even after church officials agreed to a demand by ultraconservative Muslims known as Salafis that a cross and bells be removed from the building."

In an effort to defuse the situtation the Egyptian Military announced today that one man was executed by hanging for the death of 6 Coptic Christians.
The rare announcement - the dates of executions are never revealed - came one day after deadly clashes in Cairo that left 24 people dead, most of them Christians.
Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Hussein, also known as Hamam Kamuni, was hanged on Monday, afterhe was convicted of shooting worshippers in the southern town of Nagaa Hammadi in January 2010 as they emerged from a Christmas Eve mass.

"Muslims Attack Two Christian Families in Egypt, 11 Killed," by Mary Abdelmassih for AINA, February 3 (thanks to Pamela Geller):
(AINA) -- News of a massacre of two Christian Coptic families by Islamists just emerged from Upper Egypt with the return of the Internet connections after a week of Internet blackout by the Egyptian regime. The massacre took place on Sunday, January 30 at 3 PM in the village of Sharona near Maghagha, Minya province. Two Islamists groups, aided by the Muslim neighbors, descended on the roof of houses owned by Copts, killing eleven Copts, including children, and seriously injuring four others.
Anba Agathon, Bishop of Maghagha, told Coptic activist Dr. Mona Roman in a televised interview on Al-Karma TV that the killers are their neighbors, who seized the opportunity of the mayhem prevailing in Egypt and the absence of police protection to slaughter the Copts. He said that he visited today the four injured Copts, who escaped death despite being shot, at Maghagha General Hospital and they told him that they recognized the main attackers as they come from the same village of Sharona. They gave the Bishop details of what happened."
"The two families were staying in their homes with their doors locked when suddenly the Islamists descended on them," said Bishop Agathon, "killing eleven and leaving for dead four others family members. In addition, they looted everything that was in the two Coptic houses, including money, furniture and electrical equipment. They also looted livestock and grain."...

Our source in Israel commented on this horrible event.
"The present word on the streets in the Islamic world and Middle East is that no Islamic country will trust the US while Obama is in power and many are considering releasing intelligence concerning Obama to damage his regime. A family of Coptic Christian I knew, Joseph, his wife Shama, his 15 year old daughter and 8 year old son, as well as 8 others were dragged from their homes and murdered by Obama's "peaceful protesters". Their "peaceful Muslim neighbors" are guilty of their blood.
The call by the left to "cleanse" the land of Egypt means to kill all Christians and Jews in the land. It's going to get very much worse in Egypt. We on the other hand are ready for anything they want to bring. I can assure you, they will lose this battle against Israel, they will lose horribly and pay a price they cannot afford. (Holocaust, Never Again) שואה... לעולם לא עוד"
I am aware that some Christians in Egypt have fled to Israel and are in safe hands with the Israeli's. Thank God!
What is important to take away is.. were these people targeted because they were Christians? Are the Christians in the Region at risk? I have a strong opinion about this but would like to hear yours. What do you think?

This is true, but Taqiyya is not in line with much of the rhetoric being tossed around by the Sunni extremists today. The trend has been towards an increasing proclamation of faith, not a hiding of one. Sunni's are more strict in their use of Taqiyya. It's is not common in extreme ideology of many of todays terrorists groups.
