Ready, fire, AIM! No, that is not a typo. It is a realization of life. Anyone who has ever run a business knows you make course corrections as the business or the project goes along.
There is one course correction that a lot of us need to make. What is it?
I have changed course on one major issue.
That issue is, what happens if Mitt Romney or another liberal Republican becomes the GOP nominee?
My strategy has been and still remains to keep Mitt Romney from being the Republican nominee. There are a few people who could be worse nominees for the GOP. Mark Foley being one. Duke Cunningham being another. But beyond that, the list is pretty thin.
Establishment Republicans are getting nervous and have already started talking about what happens if Romney loses Michigan. If Romney loses, the establishment will be begging and pleading for Jeb Bush to jump into the race.
Wait; weren’t we just talking about candidates who might be worse than Mitt Romney?
The ultimate question remains, what do we conservatives do if those idiots in the RINO/Establishment wing of the party succeed in giving us another moderate/liberal as the nominee? What do we do if we find ourselves looking at another John McCain?
In the past, I have certainly hinted that if Romney were the nominee, I would stay home.
I have changed my mind.
What changed my mind?
Barack Obama did.
Do not get me wrong. A liberal Republican would be a disaster. Newt Gingrich at CPAC said we need a president who is not simply going to manage our decline, but we need a President who is going to change our trajectory.
A liberal Republican, and I don’t care which name you plug in there, will manage our decline.
As bad as a liberal Republican who will just manage our decline is, Barack Obama is worse. He recently announced plans to unilaterally reduce our nuclear weapons stockpile by 80%. He is gutting our military. He is doing everything in his power to destroy America as a superpower.
I don’t care how bad any of the potential liberal Republicans are, including Romney, none of them are anti-American Marxists.
None of them will deliberately weaken America so her enemies can destroy her. They may make bad policy decisions but they will not try to deliberately destroy our nation.
It makes me sick but if Mitt Romney is the nominee, I’m going to go out and vote for him. I’m not going to vote for a third party. I’m not going to simply not vote.
The good news is we still have time. This race remains a three-way race. We are ten days out from Michigan. There are a couple of possibilities for that primary. The first is that Romney does to Santorum what he did to Gingrich in Florida. If he damages Santorum, where are those voters going to go? They will not go to Romney and I doubt many of them will stay home. Gingrich may see a large pick up.
If some how Santorum hangs on, and beats Romney and especially if he beats him by a significant margin, Romney is finished. One top GOP Senator said on ABC News: “If Romney cannot win Michigan, we need a new candidate,” said the senator, who has not endorsed anyone and requested anonymity.
Las Vegas billionaire Sheldon Adelson just dropped another ten million dollars into Gingrich’s super Pac, so this race is not over yet.
My strategy remains to prevent the nightmare scenario of having to vote for a liberal Republican by getting a conservative nominated. But we also have to remember; we must defeat Obama in the election this fall.
Failure here is not an option.

Agi,
I think the GOP is to far gone..point of no return..we'll never retrieve it back from the Elites. No way. I like you, have been around politics for a long long time and we're kidding ourselves if we think we can..
We need a FRESH START OVER.. It will take to many election cycles to even try..what your saying..and I believe we will pickup people from the other side who are as upset as we are.
I've seen to many changes in their political philosophy as a whole over the last couple of decades to show me any thing different. I once was a proud card carrying Republication..now I'm proud I'm not!! God Bless..
Permalink Reply by THOMAS S. WRIGHT on February 18, 2012 at 9:52am THE QUOTE, HISTORY repeats itself. in this primary and ELECTION. "I HOPE NOT". we do not need another remake of 2008. Mc CAIN/ ROMNEY CANDIDATES ONE THE SAME. RINO PAIRS. I am hoping for a BROKERED CONVENTION. to put a REAL CANDIDATE IN PLACE. "NOT A RINO". SARAH PALIN PSE.
The idea of a brokered convention sounds good on paper, like many things. However, not everything goes according to plans. Just do some homeowrk. The 1948 brokered convention placing Dewey on the ballot, he was a good candidate, still ended giving the presidency to Truman. It, certainly didn't work for the GOP.
I believe it all begins from bottom up. It's congress we first need to fix. We did some in 2010. But since then we haven't seen the tea parties out in force for the 2012 congressional election.
We tend to do something good and then sit back and think the rest will happen again. Nope! We need to persevere and never fall asleep behind the wheel.

THE TEA PARTIES ARE NOT THE PARTIES OF UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER. as the GOP has shown us THAT IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!. surrender and failure is not an OPTION. we shall stand TALL.

Permalink Reply by Lizzie on February 18, 2012 at 10:13am This needs to be said more.
Who is saying they'll stay home if their pick doesn't win the Republican nomination?? Maybe half the people here don't even like the Republican party. But, of all the things people have done in the name of freedom, holding your nose when you vote isn't a big deal.
And if we don't like it, we resolve to put more effort into educating people so they nominate a better candidate next time.
We'll vote for Mitt, if it comes to it, so that there will be a "next time" presidential election in 2016!!
Fortunately, I think most people here understand what's at stake in the next four years.
Permalink Reply by Dennis L on February 18, 2012 at 10:19am This is why it's going to be tough for any GOP candidiate to win. Just look at the last election
Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1
Lazy, unmotivated and ignorant people will always vote for the candidate that promises the most government help, sends the biggest welfare check and is quick to give numerous hand outs.. Starting from scratch Obama has at least 40% of the vote. Obama won all of the major cities in a minority of states and was elected. He needs to be stopped before he destroys this country and I too will vote for anyone other than Barack Hussian Obama.
I hope that Romney is not the candidiate for reasons discussed many times on the forum. I believe that its a two person race right now between Romney and Sanorum but the front runner appears to change on a weekly basis. The people of Michigan may decide this for us. Romney has the money and is plastering the airwaves with negative ads against Santorum. The Michigan primary election will be close and if Romney loses, he might be finished. If that is the result ;it is a feather in our cap.
Permalink Reply by Myrene on February 18, 2012 at 10:38am Yes. We conservatives need to stop bashing the most conservative man in the race....Santorum. He is the one you can find nearly NOTHING negative on...he doesn't change his stance on policy and he doesn't speak out of both sides of his mouth to please whatever audience he's speaking before or if the wind decides to blow in different direction. IF we are conservatives, then lets start supporting, not tearing down, our only true conservative left in the race.
