Rick Santorum is suspending his presidential campaign, in effect making Mitt Romney the Republican Presidential Nominee.
From the AP:
A Republican close to the campaign says the former Pennsylvania senator was to make the announcement Tuesday in his home state of Pennsylvania, two weeks before the GOP presidential primary there. Santorum faced a tough fight in his home state against Romney.
Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich are technically still in the race, but Santorum’s withdrawal effectively ends the race.
For the Tea Party and conservatives, we have a lot to think about.
This should have been the year of the Tea Party Presidential candidate. We should have been able to offer the American people a clear choice between Obama’s vision for failed socialism and the end of America and the bright, shinning, city on a hill that is America. We could have offered them the hope of a great future.
Now, to get Obama out of office, we have to support a Republican who is only slightly less liberal than Obama. At least he is a natural born citizen and not an anti-American Marxist.
Romney is a soulless technocrat. To him, everything is a problem to be solved.
The passion of patriotism and conviction do not enter into those equations. Romney is a big government, statist Republican. He also made it a point to win the nomination without conservatives and the Tea Party.
For conservatives, our future now lies with trying to put conservatives in control of not only the Senate but the House as well.
Romney now needs to reach out to conservatives, not go left as a lot of his advisors are going to tell him to. This election is a referendum on Obama. With unemployment at record levels and gas prices causing major economic damage, Obama is very vulnerable. But surveys on Tea Party Nation show that one quarter of Tea Party supporters will not vote for Romney in the general election.
If a quarter of Romney’s base stays home, he can forget about beating Barack Obama. While few in the conservative movement believe Romney is anything near being a conservative, now is the time for him to try and prove us wrong.
For the Republicans, the conservatives are not happy. The GOP had better reach out to the Tea Party and the Conservative Movement to make certain that we are included in the future or there maybe a future without conservatives in the Republican Party.
If conservatives leave the GOP, the GOP will go the way of the Whig Party.

Permalink Reply by faith m martin on April 11, 2012 at 5:13pm I AM A NEWTSER TOO!!! And if we want NEWT to win it is going to take work, work, work!!! And I don't mean posting online!! Newt.com can tell you where to volunteer in your area, and newtsnetwork.com needs people to make calls to these upcoming states. Newt also needs donations where you can, I have a weekly sent to his campaign. Rick is out, he ran a hard race, but getting down to brass tacks, the fact is IF WE DON''T DO IT WE ARE STUCK WITH ROMNEY OR OBAMA!!! Talk to your friends, neighbors, PTO, Lodge Brothers, Group Sisters, knock on doors, put up signs, and if you can't get them blow up some Contracts with America and post them. Go on a 2.50 a gallon sticker campaign with some sticky pads and colored markers, sticky note cars in parking lots and gas pumps with NEWT = $2.50 a Gal. or NEWT = Lower Taxes or Newt = Jobs, you get the picture, WE HAVE A RACE TO WIN!!!

Permalink Reply by Jeff Waller on April 11, 2012 at 9:17pm Here's a zinger for Romney to ask Obama when they get into their first debate: "You certainly do seem to have something of an agenda about you, Mr. President. On that point, there's one thing I would like to know. Is this your real agenda or is this the one you promised the Russians?"
Of course, Obama can't answer that either way...
Permalink Reply by Karen Fraker on April 11, 2012 at 11:09pm Downey, I hoping that the 70% that voted for Obama the last election will come over to our side, the side of sense! But, I think those that are comming to our side unfortunatey, those are the ones that are voting for Romney the moderate, the one that is moe close to Obama, who say's whatever he has to win! The one that changes his party as much as Obama has twisted the truth!
Permalink Reply by Karen Fraker on April 11, 2012 at 11:14pm We just have to work harder now that Newt is getting another jump start, and show him our support with tweeets and donations! Let's get back on tract, he also needs more indorseents! It should be interesting if Santorum has the manhood to give up his support to another canidate, I suspect that might come to late, but I do look to see if he gives it to Romney so he might save himself in the future, like VP or for the other conserative at this time Newt? We will have to see what he decides to do, and will be interesting, but it sure would be great to see him stay to the program and support Newt!
