In Utah, the Republican Party held its convention. Under the rules of the Republican Party of Utah, a candidate must get 60% of the vote in order to avoid a primary. Hatch failed and now he will face a primary from former State Senator Dan Liljenquist.
Hatch first went to Washington in 1977. He became one of the Republicans who was willing to reach across the aisle to work with Democrats. He became famous for his friendship with Ted Kennedy.
Hatch is one of the big Republican spenders in Washington. He supported TARP and the Government Motors bailout. He worked with his buddy Ted Kennedy to expand a massive government program call SCHIP or the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.
Dan Liljenquist is a former State Senator in Utah. He is a very impressive 37-year-old lawyer. He was named the “public official of the year” by governing magazine. He has an impressive conservative record as a state legislator.
In 2008, Liljenquist survived a horrifying plane crash in Central America that killed 11 of the 14 people on board.
Tea Party groups and other conservative groups, such as FreedomWorks have come out in favor of Liljenquist.
They are right.
Orrin Hatch has been in Washington far too long.
He is a part of the Washington establishment that has caused so many problems for America. He is a big spending, big government Republican.
If Hatch remains in the Senate, we cannot expect much help in our battle for fiscal sanity.
When Hatch ran in 1976, he ran against an opponent who had been in the Senate for 18 years. His slogan then was, “What do you call a Senator who has been in Washington for 18 years? You call him home.”
How’s this one? What do you call a Senator who has been in Washington for 36 years? The answer is you cannot call him home because his home is now Washington. You call him into retirement.
Dan Liljenquist is a breath of fresh air in Utah politics. He is a conservative who we need in Washington and we need him to replace Orrin Hatch.
It is time for Dan Liljenquist to go to Washington.
Let’s get behind Dan and put another Tea Party Republican in the United States Senate.

Permalink Reply by hunter60 on April 22, 2012 at 6:05am Good news, the establishment republican party and progressives like Hatch are a part of the problem. "Reaching across the aisle" to leftists makes republicans accomplices in our destruction. Funny how that works, compromise with evil and it eats you. Hatch, along with rest of the political left, belong on the end of a rope for numerous treasons.
Permalink Reply by Concerned Citizen on April 22, 2012 at 6:06am Why doesn't anyone who calls themselves "tea party" understand that FreedomWorks is run by a guy who supports open borders and amnesty?
You really think it is a victory to boot out a senator who has been very strong in stopping amnesty?
Dick Armey is no patriot.
Dick Armey doesn't care about American jobs.
Dick Armey is for more immigration and for amnesty.
If ths senate loses Hatch it will be terrible, not something to boast about.
Tea Party Nation should be doing everything it can to help keep Hatch in office, not show its stupidity by throwing over a senator who has supported Americans over illegal aliens in every instance.
Uh oh, A Troll! Did you hear what the honorable Sen. Hatch said about you? Listen "Concerned citizen" and you will hear of the June failure of Orin Hatch. I'm always curious about people who remain suedo-anonymous.

This statement,
Tea Party groups and other conservative groups, such as FreedomWorks have come out in favor of Liljenquist.
Is not true, I am at a great many Tea Party sites as well as the FreedomWorks.
There is very little support for or against this person. I do not know enough about the issues at hand to speak politically correct.
And my friend I can not tell if you are for or against this person, because the directive of a sentence changes, or I miss read your up date. I will re-read it again....
Permalink Reply by Henry Massingale on April 22, 2012 at 6:47am Dan Liljenquist, I will have a back ground check on this person done within accountability of his work and investment ties before we bring support for or against him.
If he is a good person as you state, then we will support him.
And no Dan Liljenquist, at the other sites, I am sorry, there has been very little posting one way or the other for or against him..
And by the way Mr. Phillips, how have you been ? Good I hope and we will tune in again
Permalink Reply by Ronald Sorrells on April 22, 2012 at 7:12am HATCH IS ONE OF THOSE "SKILLED AND SMOOTH" ATTORNEYS THAT HAVE USED THEIR LEGAL TALENTS TO "CRAFT" RULES OF OPERATION IN THE CONGRESS AND LAWS THAT ALLOWED THEM TO CIMCUMVENT THE "TRUE" INTENTIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION !
HE and OTHERS HAVE AMAST GREAT FORTUNES AND IMMENSE POWER FROM WASHINGTON, DC and HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF GIVING THOSE UP WITHOUT A FIGHT ! IT IS "NOW" ALL ABOUT "POWER" TO THEM !
