Are We Living In Times of Evil?
It is Lent. For Christians all over the world, this is the time of preparation before we remember the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. Archbishop Chaput of Philadelphia issued a pastoral letter for Lent in which he said, “Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant. Then tries to silence good.”
This leads us to the question - are we living in times of evil?
America has always been an aberration. In a sea of tyranny, we have been the shinning beacon of freedom and liberty. While men yearn to be free and live in liberty and peace, leaders want just the opposite. The overwhelming majority of leaders want power.
Power and freedom are a zero sum game. You cannot grow the power of the state unless you further restrict the freedom of the people. While some laws and government power are necessary for a well-ordered liberty, the creation of more and more arms of government does nothing but crush the liberty and freedom of man.
America for the last fifty years has really been an aberration. We have had the freest and most just society the world has ever seen. While it has not been perfect, which is the impossible standard those on the evil left would try to make us live up to, no nation has ever enjoyed the blessings of liberty as America has.
That is why Marxists like Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi hate America and want to see America torn down.
They want to be the masters of the American people.
That is the problem we have had for a long time. Our elected officials have long since lost the concept of being public servants and now think they are public masters.
We see this with the IRS attacks on Tea Party and Liberty groups. We see this with Obamacare, which if left intact will destroy the American concept of the God given, inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and replace it with the concept that Americans are simply chattel to the state.
We see this with the Obama Regime’s attack on religion in general and the Catholic Church in particular. We see this with the repeated declarations from the Obama Regime that every occasion from Christmas to the 9/11 remembrances is an excuse for public service. In other words, everything we do must be directed towards bettering the state. The left thinks we should worship the state and we are simply property of the state and should be grateful to it for whatever crumbs it throws our way.
America has always been a nation of optimism and hope, yet I will say for the first time in my adult life, my hope that this country will become a better country for my children is now fading.
On one side, we have a political party that is totally committed to destroying America. They purposefully engage in policies that will lead to a very obvious and predictable end. They continue to borrow money at such a rate that the only end result will be a national economic collapse.
Of course given that they are evil, this is not really a surprise. The fact they want to replace the freedom of America with a system that is primarily known for poverty, tyranny and mass murder is not a surprise either. The real surprise is that Americans have become so complacent that we just look evil in the face and then ask, “What time is American Idol coming on?”
It is heartbreaking to think that the nation that offered the world George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln and many more is now reduced to simply being a spectator at its own national suicide.
We need to begin pruning the tree of government in order to save liberty and freedom for America.
Who is willing to do this?
Mitt Romney, the most likely Republican nominee does not want to shrink government. He would like to expand it even more. Rick Santorum, whose chances of actually winning the nomination are almost gone would be better but not by that much. He too is a big government Republican. There were two in the race who actually talked about seriously reducing the size of government. There is Ron Paul whose candidacy has always been a joke and Newt Gingrich who now can only act as a spoiler if he can keep his campaign alive.
Our founding fathers feared a powerful national government and with good cause. They saw the abuses of tyranny with their own eyes. We have lived the last sixty years or so in peace and prosperity. With the exception of the few remaining World War Two vets, almost none of us even have a clue what tyranny is.
Our founding fathers created the Bill of Rights and set restrictions on the power of a national government to save us from that tyranny. Our individual state governments are the ultimate defense our founding fathers planned for the people against an imposing federal government.
With the real possibility that the Supreme Court may declare Obamacare Constitutional and the other usurpations the federal government is making on our liberty and freedom, we must now look to the states to protect our rights and our freedoms.

I agree in the most part, but Lincoln being named in the same sentence as important as our nation's founders? A lot of people feel he was a tyrant, he was a cause of a divided nation, and caused the deaths of a half million people that could have been prevented, and what he founded we see as problems in America today. No, there are some who have not forgotten the real Lincoln, and his greatness depends on which of the distorted facts the federal government has contrived about him.

We are living in times that are evil. The progressives preach that patriotism, our flag, our military, the US Constitution/Bill of Rights, gun ownership, freedom of speech and personal liberty need to be sacrificed for the benefit of the state.The progressives want the ability to redefine Gods divine meaning of right and wrong. They've even gone so far as to teach that perverted homosexual behavior is normal! It is not. It is an aberration.
We are on our way to tyranny and most Americans don't see it. As liberty is being taken from us one small step at a time no one bothers to notice. Judson is correct in that as the federal government grows, more laws are passed and freedom disappears. As a middle age person I experienced what life was like back in the 1950's, 60's and 70's. We had far less federal laws and everyone was better off. Today we have lawmakers in Washington that are miles removed from our communities and are completely out of touch with what goes on locally, making laws that affect us all. When they are not busy writing new laws, existing laws like the commerce clause that was put in place to regulate (make interstate commerce more regular) are now being reinterpreted as the new control mechanism for the federal government. The more control they have the less freedom you have. Is this the America that you want to live in?

If we want to revert back to our founding principles, we must start at the local level by electing officials with the principles of our founding fathers. We have already started the process but that takes time.
In our Primaries and in November we must help get out the vote, volunteer at our local GOP offices and get out the word on those running for office who will uphold the founding principles of a limited government that our Constitution outlined.
Obama says when he is re-elected he'll "have more flexibility." We have to make a real effort to make sure that on November 7, 2012, the only flexibility Obama and Michelle will have will be to lift their suitcases, open them up and start packing.

Americans need to wake up and see, all you write is TRUE TRUE TRUE...the last time our country faced similar situations is really the times that led to the formation of our great country...

Instead of focusing on waking America up the GOP candidates attack each other...
Where I quibble with you is here: Santorum will not be able to do any Big Government grabs since we will be ousting RINOs and taking charge of the Senate...Romney is the true RINO - which is why the GOP wants him...electing Romney allows the powers that be in the GOP to maintain their status quo..to keep.the power they have accumulated.
We can't afford to have Newt Gingrich drop out...a brokered convention is our only hope.
The GOP mantra of abo - anyone but Obama is simply a lame scare tactic they are using to propel Romney into the General Election.
I will NOT hold my nose to vote for him. I will vote. I will write my man in...but I will NOT ABO...voting ABO is putting a nail in America's coffin.

What do we get instead of Christians and other good people standing for Truth, the Truth that made this country possible, Judeo-Christian principles...we get atheists, believe what you want to believe you have freedom of choice - trying to join forces to have their 'rights' recognized...they wouldn't have the rights they have were it not for our Founding Fathers, who gave their all to get the freedoms we are on the brink of losing.So they and all of the ignorant masses who place 'THEIR desires' ahead of the majority drive America into the ground.

If the Supreme Court declared ElFraudo Care Constitutional, then Congress has full control over every Americans life, can tell every American what to buy or fine them if they dont buy it. No where in the Constitution allows this to happen. Congress was never given this absolute authority over its people. The Commerce Clause was never intended to allow Congress to tell Americans what to buy, eat, perform, etc. The Constitution was written to keep government small and off the taxpayers back. Any Supreme Court member who votes that this is Constitutional should be removed from the bench, then put in jail.
The Constitutional clause does not allow Congress to steal the freedoms of every American. It is not a dicatatorship, its a republic. Those who dont understand this need to be removed from power immediately.

Doctors, lawyers, hospitals, insurance companies have us over a "proverbial barrel". THEY WILL NOT SUPPL HEATHCARE SERVICES UNLESS THEY ARE PAID UNGODLY RATES ! Well, we use to train physicians, nurses, pharmacists, etc. IN THE MILITARY AND PUBLIC HEALTH CLINICS AND "ALL THEY OWED WAS PUBLIC "NON-PROFIT SERVICE, AFTER THEIR TIME IN SERVICE (PUBLIC OR MILITARY).
TO HAVE "AFFORDABLE RATES" WITHOUT INSURANCE COMPANIES...WE HAVE TO HAVE non-profit medical services system to compliment the "Pay the preveiling rate".
RATES HAVE TO RETURN TO CITIZENS BEING ABLE TO AFFORD "OUT OF POCKET" FOR SERVICES.
After we defeat Obamacare....THIS IS THE CONVESATION WE MUST HAVE.
