The Republican Party stands at the abyss.  Either they are going to be a conservative party or they are going to be a party of big government statists, who simply compete with the other guys to see who can control big government.

How will we know if they are serious?

On July 11th, the House is going to vote on the Obamacare repeal.  The repeal vote is a foregone conclusion.   Probably every Republican and a few endangered Democrats will vote to repeal Obamacare.

Does anyone remember January 2011?

The Republicans held their first vote and it was to repeal Obamacare.  The House bill passed overwhelmingly.   It went to the Senate where Harry Reid and the Party of Treason made sure it died quickly.

After that, the Republican leadership shrugged their collective shoulders, said, “we tried,” then went on to the next item of business which was spending more money than Nancy Pelosi did while she was speaker.

The Republicans in the House were able to return to their districts and tell their voters, “We tried but that damned Harry Reid stopped us.”

Unfortunately far too many people bought that.

If the Republicans were serious about repealing Obamacare, they would have to do more than just a vote.  There are a number of strategies, starting with holding up bills in the House to force the Senate to act.

But the Republican leadership did none of that.  All they wanted was their symbolic vote so they could go home and say, “See we tried.”

Now we face the disaster of a Mitt Romney nomination.

Romney only wants to repeal Obamacare so he can replace it with Romneycare.  If you read his plan, he wants to act just like Obama by trying to repeal Obamacare by executive order instead of having Congress repeal the law.  What Romney should be saying is that he wants the new Republican controlled House and Senate to have a bill repealing Obamacare waiting on him and as soon as he is sworn in, he will sign the bill.

Someone needs to tell Mitt what the Constitution says.

Mitt Romney’s plan is called “Repeal and Replace.”

Here is a plan for the Republicans to consider.  Repeal and let the free market work.

Want to bring down costs?  Figure out ways to make insurance companies compete with each other.  Eliminate the prohibitions against purchasing insurance across state lines.  (Here’s a hint to the Republicans.   That is interstate commerce, which is a power given to the Federal Government.)

Just in case anyone missed it, the big insurance companies do not want competition.  If there is no competition, they can charge what ever they want and do not have to be competitive.  They also do not like lawsuits because they will actually have to pay out damages, which is why people buy insurance to begin with.

In the next few days, we will see how serious the GOP is.  If they are simply going to do another symbolic vote so they can go home and say, “I voted to repeal,” and “Vote against the Democrats because they would not repeal,” then we know where they really are.

A few days ago, I spoke with a major Republican Congressman in DC and I told this Congressman we were sick and tired of the games.  We do not simply want “Votes.”  We want success.  We want to make this happen.

If the Republican leadership only wants to play games, then the people can do that too.

Debra, While I know Jud is not an Obama supporter, far too many "conservatives" feel the best way to impact a Romney administration is by bashing him. Problem is of cource, that a Romney adminstration can only be impacted if he WINS. The continual bashing by the Ron Paul supporters and those in the GOP whose prefered candidate lost, are making it harder for a Romney win.

Rush Limbaugh had it right today, when he said first and formost is to defeat OBAMA, then we can work to fix Romney! (or words to this effect)

Ya know we have to stick together. We have to fight this evil that is opon us.  His ears as you noticed are getting larger and voice schiller.  He is loosing, and his base is falling.  Don't beleive the polls, it happened with Carter and Ronald , and guess who won.

Debrajoe just because a person is paranoid doesnt mean that there isnt anyone out to get them. Seriously? Its the libtard left that sticks its head in the sand and pretends things are ducky. Real people who have real values as most conservatives do dont pretend the world is ducky. We dont believe in participation awards, and were tired of paying for a massive and in effective governing body spending us toward oblivion. Have you not seen what economists are saying: heres one;Nouriel Roubini  an American economist said this recently " My 'Perfect Storm' Scenario Is Unfolding Now" regarding the financial state of the economy here and abroad. This is one of many forecasts that tell us if we keep pretending things are good when they are not is certain to be our destruction. I appreciate Judsons honesty. He is a real person offering factual information in addition to opinions. I dont see that as being negative. I see it as REALISTIC. Geesh Obummer touts his big healthcare bill as modeled after Romneys-hello?? Isnt that enough for you to see Mitt Rinos presidency would be like? Couldnt agree with you more Judson.

The GOP deserves to be bashed.  They are the biggest pile of gutless worms I have ever seen.

At least the Democrats FIGHT for what they believe in - Socialism.  The GOP doesn't fight at all.  They are close to worthless and should be removed from office.  We need to start over with a new party.  I have never been more convinced.

When Obama wins in November, it is time to permanently abandon the GOP.

Only one answer RON PAUL !

If it was possible I would consider but talk like this also will give Obama another term.

Quit the mindless and continuous spamming for the crazy old loser, Dennis.

I understand what you are trying to say Judson, but what else are we to do. Anything other than voting for Romney will be a sure loss and put Obummer back in.

At this point in time, so close to the Nov. election, you are 100% correct, Marianne. Once we boot Odumbo out and usher in a new crop of conservative Senators & Congressmen (hopefully), then we will have 4 years during which we can concentrate on forming a truly conservative political party (call it what you will) to take America back from the career politicians, both Democrat & Republican.

Stop already! Which is worse: Charging, with no proof, what Romney will do or not do, or knowing without any doubt that Obama will fill up the government with extreme lefties?

So you'd rather have 4 more years of Odumbo???? We must be practical. The only choice will be between Odumbo and (presumably) Romney. So, CHOOSE! Well, I guess you could just not vote...but then you lose the moral right to bitch about the result.

Once we get rid of Odumbo, as I said above, "...then we will have 4 years during which we can concentrate on forming a truly conservative political party (call it what you will) to take America back from the career politicians, both Democrat & Republican." THEN we can work to change Washington!

AGREED!!!  We can't fight obama and fight Romney, too.  We will end up divided if we don't get behind Romney.  We need to continue to put conservatives in office who can then sway Romney a little further to the right.

I have seen obama's ad twice on cable and I wanted to throw up.  It was nothing but lies against Romney.  This is what Tea Party conservatives need to be joining together to fight against...not each other!!!  My head is NOT in the sand and I've been fighting since prior to obama's election.  The same with my family..  Enough of the negative talk and let's develop a Tea Party plan that can be conveyed to Bachman and the Tea Party Caucus.  Let's ask the Tea Party Caucus to meet with Romney and express our concerns.  This is how CHANGE (the real and good kind) is made...not throwing out negative comments daily!!!!!!

EDIT:  This reply is to roc29's post to which I am agreeing!!!!
